All four of you failed to understand that them saying "a GOAT" and not "the GOAT" simply means that they're saying Sonix is ONE OF the greatest Ultimate Players all time, not exactly THE ABSOLUTE greatest. And if you disagree with that then I have nothing more to say to you. I actually do not like watching Sonix play in bracket, but he is a beast.
3:27 is such a sneaky good play. Sonix positions the homing attack by letting his spin dash go slightly off stage so his double jump pops him straight up. Had he jumped from the ground, he would have launched up and away and the HA would’ve missed (Leo would have been drifting perpendicular to its motion). And the best part is if Leo airdodged it and the HA didn’t lock on, it was facing right and would have landed Sonix on stage.

@@ryanrech107 i genuinely do appreciate every top player (exception of criminals), no matter their playstyle. i especially like looking at players like sonix and captincito because i want inspiration to keep myself calm and patient
Loved it when sonix went, “ Full speed ahead!” And proceeded to do the most INSANE edgeguards to Mkleo that I’ve ever see. GOOD STUFF TO SONIX. HE’S MY GOAT!!!
I was just talking to a couple friends about that, some of the phrases Leo uses are kinda hard to translate in a way they maintain their essence so translating into more proper words is funnier
Leo more comfortable being Pyra again finally, but man this match up always looks rough for Aegis even though it’s supposedly one of the best characters against Sonic
Sonic is a really meta breaking character, there’s no other character that has nearly the same tools that Sonic has, nor players that exploit them the way Sonix does It tends to be an awful experience to watch and play against That being said, whenever Sonix does go in and approach, it can be magic It’s unfortunate Sonix is a very campy player because when he plays aggressive, it is very entertaining
Unfortunately, you can't go aggressive all the time in this game if you pretend to win. Every character does it sometimes. But when a sonic does it, is more noticeable because is the most fastest character
Wdym unfortunate that's how you play sonic lol. Sonix does go kinda crazy though when he does play offensive. That's what makes sonix the best sonic, he knows when to play passively and aggressively
I just picked up the game, loving Sonic so far, but I don't get it. These top players seem to never use those moves on the right joystick. Are they simply too slow and not worth it when people get better at the game? Or very situational?
I can't believe that Sonic vs Aegis is even. Definitely losing for Aegis imo solely due to Sonic having good options against every recovery route against Aegis.
The main issue is that Aegis is hard to put in disadvantage for Sonic. They have range and frame data, which makes it hard to play the game Sonic plays best which is whiff punishing. Every punish has to be extremely tight in order to actually take advantage of your greatest asset against them. This also makes Aegis really hard to kill for Sonic, and Sonic already has killing issues. They also have a very oppressive advantage state that can put a choke hold on Sonic. I think it’s winning Aegis for these reasons Aegis : Neutral Advantage Kill power Range Frame data Mythra also has a higher initial dash which means she can catch him if the player predicts a run back. Sonic : Disadvantage/recovery Damage Straight line speed
The tiers don't really matter or do anything. Top players keep playing Aegis, whether as primary or secondary, and doing pretty good. Look at the Liquipedia page that shows major winners and runners up, and see how many times you can count that foxy redhead. I believe it's 8, about the same as Steve. Kazuya looks like 6, G&W 5, Cloud 3, and so on. The point is that Aegis isn't perfect, but they're a nontrivial fixture in the meta at least for now.
Leo and Sparg0 have both gone back and forth with Sonix in this matchup recently, with big set wins on both the Aegis side and the Sonic side. Maybe a few more on the Aegis side, but we're talking about Leo and Sparg0 here, which is to say the best of the best. It's got to be playable for both Aegis and Sonic. It seems to be more playable for Aegis than for Byleth, given how Byleth is too slow to ever track down Sonic. Cloud can't be all that bad, but it's nicer to have Mythra's speed if Sonic is being evasive. Mythra is one of the few characters in the game that can keep up with him. There is also maybe something nice about Aegis's curving aerial hitboxes if you are going air to air vs. Sonic in just the right way. The offstage vulnerability is a tradeoff that top players like Leo, Sparg0, and Shuton (whose Aegis has a good record against KEN's Sonic) have accepted. Note that Sparg0 also beat KEN's Sonic with Aegis at Kagaribi#10, but it was 3-2, so the matchup seems to be tight but winnable with a few different player combinations.
The reason why sonic didn’t gat his sword Excalibur in smash is because it would be too broken for the fastest character in the game to have even more reach
