Good advice. I ran out one year and left my stand empty. I lost a lot of regular customers who found somewhere else to go, and now it's tough to get them back. Always better to have wood to sell than not
That's what I was trying to get at, thank you for reading between the lines. Yes, I agree - keep the stand full and have sellable inventory or run the risk of losing customers. That's my fear that people will see an empty stand and then go to gas station for their bundles and not return again. I have told folks to take one of my business cards and text me beforehand to confirm if I have wood available but that isn't required. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!
@@travisdoesfirewood don't think they would not return if they get it retail. Costs about double. Put up a sign if necessary stating you are "temporarily out of stock. I'm trying to find some. Thank you for understanding and your support, come back next week". In the meantime, bust butt finding some.
Def. a great point, Brian! The trend that I've seen that when I buy split wood, the wood is never at the quality that I prefer...and if I want premium splits and lengths, then the cost goes up. So, in other words, I can't seem to get the best of both worlds - quality firewood for a cheap rate. Luckily, with the wood I've purchased over the last few months (twice now) I can mixed the non-quality wood with better quality splits to make an OK bundle. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!
Absolutely, do whats necessary to keep stands full. As providers of formerly illicit products say, dont burn your own stash. Not really saying that just wanted too😅😅
I missed what species it was. Douglas Fir? I think you did fine on the purchase. Are you sure your moisture meter is correct? Seemed like it was reading high for how the wood sounded.
Correct, Douglas Fir. I think the meter was off somehow. I checked again with another meter and it was mid-20s so I'm not too concerned. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!
