While visiting Iceland, I ran out of time because I didn’t accurately gauge how far everything was from one another. However, I have no regrets because what I did see was incredible. In this video, I compiled a list of 5 places you must see while in Iceland. This list is in no particular order. It’s just random.
First on the list is Reynisfjara or the Black Sand Beach. This place is gorgeous and one of my favorite places I visited. If you plan to visit this place, just bare in mind it’s pretty far from Reykjavik so make sure you have enough time to visit.
Second on the list is the Blue Lagoon. I have to admit, I wasn’t too keen on going to this place initially. I knew that it was a place that everyone visited when they came to Iceland so for me that was an automatic turn off. Despite my reservations for going, I decided to give it a try and I was so glad I did. Yes, Blue Lagoon is a tourist trip, but I came away feeling like it was every bit worth the money. The Blue Lagoon is very close to Reykjavik. I would recommend going at the beginning of your trip or tours the end.
Third on the list is Fjadrargljufur Canyon. This is one bad azz canyon. Just bare in mind that if you visit in the winter, you may not be able to see much of the canyon if you like to get out and hike to explore the place. In the winter, it can get pretty Icey and you may not give very far if you don’t have crampons. Also, Fjadrargljufur is very far from Reykjavik (4 hours plus drive) so plan accordingly.
Forth on the list is Gullfoss. This is pretty standard when it comes to places to visit. It’s along the Golden Circle so it’s relatively easy to get to. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from Reykjavik. Despite being standard, it really is an impressive series of waterfalls and you won’t be disappointed.
Last but not least is Strokkur Geyser. This geyser is pretty darn amazing and it will not disappoint you when you see it. It’s easy to get to. Strokkur is neighbors with Gullfoss so you can easily do both in a day.
