For those asking this video was made before I went on vacation (before I had the SM4 and EM10 etc) SM4 would be top of great, and EM10/PILGRIM would be middle of endgame worthy :)
@@jayyaudio Am I assuming correctly then that the 7Hz Aurora is considered better than them due to the genres it really works with? In your IEM ranking list, you did say that the Aurora was genre-specific.
F1 Pros were the first planars I tried, since I was curious about the driver type. I would've loved to have kept them, because I liked the design, sound, and the overall package. Sadly, my ears hard-rejected their fit: no contours/wings + aggressive nozzle angle were making my earlobes go numb after 30-45 minutes consistently. It got so bad, that I wound up returning them and got the original S12, which sounded pretty comparable to me and were way more comfortable (all-day comfort, actually). My 500LM is definitely brighter than my EM6L. The treblehead in me liked it, but after listening to it stock for an hour or two and going over to the EM6L, S12, or other relatively bright set I have, they sounded like warm IEMs lmao. I knew I had a reason to get the mod kit along with my purchase last month. 500 mesh filter + medium sponge for the red nozzle helped bring them in line with my other daily drivers. Pretty happy with them now. Especially like the bass on the LM compared to the EM6L, which I find a little pillowy and stunted, almost like the DD handling the bass on that thing is too fast and doesn't let bass notes decay out all the way or something. Found it hard to believe that set and the LM were supposed to have roughly the same level of bass on the graph.
Yikes man it is hit or miss with the fit sometimes, unlucky this time, but live and learn I guess? Some of the LM definitely do graph brighter than some EM6Ls, mine was the opposite, my LM was less bright than my EM6L, and ya I agree the bass is better on LM, much harder. Thank god for the tuning kits lol
SLIIVO SL-41 are criminally underrated, the full package and build is awesome and worth putting in ENGAME is you're on a budget. If you like warm neutral with good tech and also good for games they really deliver above their price point. They beat P5 in vocal presence /Chopin in treble timbre and rumble / pa02 in bass cleaninless. Smaller shell than pa02 and snug 2-pin recessed connector for everyday carry. It is less layback than Pa02/cklvx but more versatile. Also I got the opportunity to demo 2 HYPE4 and I noticed slight unit variation : One having slight more sub-bass rumble at the cost of some layering in that region the other being more tame for a slight cleaner midbass layering. The more sub-bass set was purchased in Febuary the other was purchased in June 2024.
I finally had the chance to try out the EM10 & Pilgrim in usual my local audio hangout, these are the new winners in the mid-fi market, EM10 is a bit more detailed than Pilgrim, while Pilgrim is quite an intense set (in a good way) that remind me of the Gaea with a bit less aggressive, kinda like a baby Gaea, going from your list, I would put EM10 right on the middle of "Endgame Worthy" while Pilgrim would tie with Hype 4 at the tail end of "Endgame Worthy", maybe put the Hype 4 above the the Pilgrim since it works better as an all-rounder thanks to the bass. But the true stars I've had the chance to try out in the last hangout was the Crimson, very bright but for a merely 4-ba set, the bass is extremely well done with good & meaty texture, not to mention top-tier technicality as well, there's gotta be a lot of R&D going on from Symphonium to be able to achieve such feat, definitely an end-game for sure. Now what I'm more excited is the fact that one of the dude in the circle is about to receive his Annihilator 23 version, I would be able to demo that out in future hangout.
@@jayyaudio indeed Jay, we're only halfway into the year 2024 and so far, things have been great in the mid-fi market, supermix 4, EM10, 7hz Aurora, Pilgrim. Now, with the release of the Storm Regular Edition and possible release of 7th Acoustics Asteria by year end, the battle in the summit-fi segment will be a sight to behold as well bro.
Great video man. I'm torn between buying the Artti r2 and the cca trio, can get them both for ~30$. I like bassy sound and I also want them for gaming. I heard the cca is also good for gaming but I don't know about the R2, there isn't that much info about them. What do you think would be the best option??
Great video! Is the Cadenza 12 in this video the official or pre-production unit? Would the Diva have been 2nd place if not for the poor customer service?
Hi Jay, What would you recommend as a fun and exciting all-rounder, a "one and done"? Chopin or CKLVX? Or should I spend a little more money on the Quintet, Cincotres, or Doscinco for better resolution and technicalities? Are the CKLVX really lacking detail and resolution compared to these slightly more expensive sets? Thank you in advance. You are doing amazing work :)
Hey jay, for fps gaming which iem would u prefer? simgut supermix 4, kiwi ke4, truthear nova, cklv, or the aful performer 5. Long list but they’re all around the same price for me and yeah I’d appreciate some guidance. Open to any other recommendations? :)
Hey Jay! Nice ranking video. By the way, have you had the chance to listen to CCA/KZ's Rhapsody? i know I've been one of those who was hard on the case(bordering on disdain) of KZ, but after hearing a couple of reviewers, who also had no problems shooting KZ down when warranted, giving the Rhapsody props; i decided to also get myself a set. And you know what, they're right. -yup, "hell just froze over", well, at least for this particular KZ/CCA model- This isn't the typical KZ/CCA tuning, and yes, the tuning switches also work. This is indeed a different KZ, with regards to tuning style. I've owned a couple of "flagship" KZs and the Rhapsody is on a different level. This is the first KZ that did well with my Gangstagrass, Adam Calhoun, Movits, Brass Against playlist. It seems to me like, with the other recent releases they've made, like the CCA Hydro and CCA Trio(KZ Vader) that's been getting positive feedbacks, there has been some changes that has taken place within KZ. It could either be a change in attitude or a change in certain key people and positions, or a combination of both. Maybe they're now finally getting tired of the BS drama and issues they consistently keep getting themselves into, and decided to begin getting their act together. Just consider Simgot, for example. They used to be really crappy with their tuning and build. The Simgot that we have now, beginning with the EA500, is a different Simgot. Word on the street is they got acquired by another brand that's on the premium price tier, and basically overhauled Simgot and made it into what it is now. And man! Simgot's been killing it since they came out with the EA500. Now, if KZ keeps this up, and that's a BIG IF, then were looking at a serious price tier disruptor. And they'll be doing something that will be good for the hobby. Specially for those in the hobby who are on limited financial capability. But! I'm still going to continue to be cautious around KZ(and their sub-brands). I still wouldn't recommend blind buying their IEMs(best to listen to reviewer feedbacks first). But, after what I experienced with the Rhapsody, KZ's doing something different; the good kind of different. Hell may have frozen over for me, but only for the Rhapsody; and i still wouldn't skate on that ice, at the moment; hehehe... Again, i'm no audiophile. I'm just someone whose now previous daily driver(yes, the Rhapsody just took over that designation) is the Legato so, you might want to take everything i said here with a couple grains of salt 😉But i sure would also like to hear what you'd think of the CCA Rhapsody and CCA Hydro. Maybe these might even be just good enough to make it on your next tier list. ...and I'm waiting for your collab 😁
@@jayyaudio Maybe you can do just these three: the CCA Hydro, CCA Rhapsody, CCA Trio(KZ Vader). Because these are the ones, at least the most recent ones, where KZ/CCA seems to have done some really good work; or as we would often hear in this hobby, "Punches above their price-point". ...looking forward to hear what your honest, unbiased thoughts will be 😊
Awesome video as always PS, thanks btw for recommending the Sanchai eartips, I got it from the Xuan NV purchase, really liking the seal it gives ♥️ (especially for easily oily ears like mine)
As a female vocal lover, I have a CIEM RSV and a Diva 23, maybe I've reached the endgame for vocals? Looking forward to the CIEM version of the Enigma as an upgrade to the RSV.
Great video but next time please keep in mind to say the manufacturer name before the model name/number. If you aren’t constantly researching the IEMs, you probably don’t know all the models, but with the makers name it is easier to find what you are speaking about.
Hi Jay, where would you put Aune Jasper among these if it was on of the IEMs from current time ? Especially given the oxygen is still listed here. Lol asking the same question everyone cause this is the only decent set I got , yet to get my hands on them though 😅
I have the ew200 saw that linsoul has shozy p20 on sale for 70 usd should I consider them. would moondrop dawn pro be enough to get maximum juice out of them.
@@jayyaudio definitely buying them. ew200 bought of your suggestion loved them, appreciate your work. btw will 150mw balanced output be enough for p20s
Thank you for the tier list jay 😊. Let me ask a normie question xd, which one would be good budget upgrade from salnotes zeros? (irrespective of tuning)
Hello Bro JayyAudio Which IEM can deliver Unforgettable & Sensational Experience when watching Movies between KZ Vader Hi Res VS CCA Trio ? Thank you Bro JayyAudio 🙏👍😁
Hi Jay, did you saw the video of HBB and his review of the CKLVX D41? I am so confused because he destroyed it to the ground, and youmpraise 8t so much, whynis that difference in opinion so huge? It keeps me very hesitating into buying them.
Also wish to know why this is the case. Did HBB get a bad unit with a dead driver or faulty connectors? It's definitely the most confusing IEM on the list.
⭐Thanks for the list. Had to rewind 34 times to decipher the model names from your Asian fast talk. Did you leave all your KZ's at home, lots missing from the list?

@zblus A new Iem because there have been QC issues, and Crin said he went to Moondrop to address it. So, I could kill two birds with one stone by seeing if the QC has gotten better and what the "correct" version sounds like.
Bro can u please make the video where u compare iems to benchmark headphone hd600 available to all...or make a different video for everyone...there is no proper video on youtube which does this...hd600 lasts for years, what do say about iems in similar price category. Circuit boards are a big failure point in multi driver iems....would love to know your views
Totally Apples to Oranges. IEM don't compare at all with full overear Open back cans except on tuning which doesn't account at all for the over all sound Quality
Bro Jayyaudio Please tell me top 3 IEMs under 25 bucks Please tell me top 3 IEMs under 50 bucks Please tell me top 3 IEMs under 75 bucks Please tell me top 3 IEMs under 100 bucks Please tell me top 3 IEMs under 125 bucks Please tell me top 3 IEMs under 15o bucks Thanks --------------- the end ----------------
Got my sm4 finally and I gotta say...I prefer the cca hydro. Sm4 lacks the deep visceral sub bass of the hydro and I have to add 5db to even get close. Vocal timbre is better on the hydro although slightly recessed compared to the sm4 which I can mostly fix with +3db at 500hz on the hydro. Hydro has better instrument separation imo. High end was a bit too much for me on the sm4 and just not really enjoyable. I used spinfit short wide bore tips (don't remember the actual name) on both which I do prefer greatly over the stock tips of either. I also use +3db 80hz low shelf to on the hydro to get a doscinco like bass. Comfort is better on the sm4 as the hydro is pretty large for my ears (I use small tips) and find to need repositioning after awhile. Tldr; sm4 is like dessert, it's sweet sometimes too sweet, lots of flavors not really filling but hits a lot of taste buds. Hydro is like meat and potatoes, it's thick, meaty, satisfying, well seasoned that just leaves me in a food coma
TBH, I think the SA6 MK2's vocals are quite good. But it is true that for female vocals it is not as forward as the conventional tuning of other iems.I personally call the SA6 MK2's vocals "creamy"
