I think Nihilego might be my favourite. Being translucent, and vaguely human-shaped despite being very visibly empty just gives it this level of eerieness beyond any other Ultra Beast

Guzzlord is probably the most terrifying if it was real. We've seen in Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon and the anime that it ate the entirety of another dimension. Imagine it came to our world and there's nothing we can do as it just consumes entire countries.

The Ultra Beasts are my favourite group of Pokémon. I just love how weird and (obviously) alien they are. I really hope we get more of them in the eventual Sun and Moon remakes or Legends Necrozma.

I just realized since it only says that Buzzwole is common, but doesn’t say it is a weak Pokémon in their universe. So my theory is that it is common in their world the same way you would consider us common. We are on every continent and we are top of the food chain in most of them.

I actually like all of the UB’s, some more than others obviously, but I didn’t expect that when I played through Alola. My top five being 1. Stakataka 2. Blacephalon 3. Nihilego 4. Buzzwole 5. Guzzlord. I know nobody really cares, but who doesn’t love making a top 5? Lol

I love the idea that summoning a city-eating demonic monstrosity constantly screaming in hunger and agony from an alternate dimension is still “coming out ahead” to the scientist.

Kartana is definately one of my favorites. I know this list didn't take anything in the anime into account, but I think its really neat that Kartana is one of the few Pokemon that can actually speak.

Every Ultra Beast is a hit for me, especially Naganadel and Blacephalon. Former is literally a dragon-hornet, an incredibly cool combo, and the latter’s literally It’s Pennywise. Man is “slithering” up to people just to blow up its head.

The ultra beasts are such an interesting concept I hope gets brought up. The idea of a Pokémon multiverse/galaxy is way too interesting.

I Love Blacephalon so much, it's incredible. It's a clown/jester thingy, I LOVE CLOWN/JESTER THINGS. And not only that, it is also, freaky as hell, you'll be standing next to one and dude explodes, you get spooked as hell, you'll be thinking the thing just unalived itself but next thing you know, my guy grows a new head and is now doing a little jig.

Yay, you did one of my suggestions 😊 Even though Buzzwole easily has my favourite design out of all of the Ultra Beasts, Nihlego is my favourite beasty period due to it being one of the few non-legendary Pokemon to play a major role in one of the games stories. I also love how up to interpretation its motivations and abilities are. Does it desire companionship or sustenance in the form of organic life. Does it corrupt people or rip their filters to shreds? Is it truly aware of the things it does or is it acting purely out of instinct? I will definitely say though, I absolutely despise how much of a tease the Mother Beast Lusamine form was. We could’ve had a true boss fight in Pokemon for the first time in years since Kyurem Black/White, but instead we got... a slightly harder version of the fight we had against her half an hour ago. I would’ve happily ate up all those forced tutorials and unskippable cutscenes if it meant having a cool, innovative boss fight but oh well. At least the concept was used well enough in the anime.

I like Celesteela and her references because I'm a massive nerd like that. And considering all the Ultra Beasts are references to classic science fiction stories and tropes it's nice to see the story represented. The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter is considered to be one of the oldest science fiction stories still around today and is the oldest surviving monogatari. We don't have an exact date for when it was written but the earliest known performance of the story is somewhere around 900 AD iirc so it's at least that old. If you don't know the story Studio Ghibli actually turned it into an animated movie some time ago under the name "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya" and its a damn good adaptation.

I don’t know if regional forms for the UBs makes sense. They’re not native to Alola to begin with, so I don’t see why any region would really change them any more than Alola did.

Every Ultra Beast is an absolute banger of a design and I’m honestly extremely upset we probably won’t get more of em. Paradox Pokémon kinda feel similar but just aren’t weird enough and are tied to pre-existing Pokémon unlike UBS like Blacephalon who are their own wacky beasts

I just recently learned that Blacephalon was a thing after my friend was showing me his Showdown mono Ghost team. I liked Alola a lot and I thought I caught all the Ultra Beasts, but I swear I've never seen that thing in my life. Must've mogged me so hard it full MiB wiped my memory after encountering it.

Celesteela is a favorite of mine and so is Phermosa's design. The others to me are ok, but Guzzlord and that mouth though.

The pub would also have a rival in Alolan Meowth's Nightclub, where some episodes would also take place for a change of scenery. TL;DR: I pitched an entire show off of a running gag and I honestly wish it were real.

Nihilego's my favorite for a similar uncanny valley-styled reason. Sea jellies are already crazy weird, so coating one in glass and molding it into a mannequin's infected Halloween hat is a genius design choice. It's not a head with tentacles, it's all negative space... because you're the one supplying the head. Hence the sick Latin name "I am nothing." It needs YOU to exist on its behalf. There's a reason why it's my third-favorite Pokemon of all time. Only Crobat and a flying lawnmower can out-cool this parasitic art installation. Not to mention it's the one Poison-Type that can Toxic a family relationship.
