I ranked every Durham University College so you dont have to

Somehow this popped into my recommendations, 12 years after I left Josephine Butler, I couldn't resist hearing your thoughts. I'm pleased JB made it to 'average'. It's probably changed a lot since I was there. However having your own personal power shower, large shared kitchen (per 6 people) and an aircraft hangar for a bar, suited me perfectly. Back then Ustinov was next door to JB, where Stephenson is now and it was kept separate as Ustinov has always been post-grad only. I can't even imagine how diminished the university experience must be due to Covid, hopefully that will improve soon.

Completely forgot to submit my college ranking and ended up getting allocated to Collingwood. I'm not at all a sporty person and I wanted a bit more of a historic college but seeing you put it in the creme de la creme makes me more excited about going there :)

I live at Ustinov and was waiting for the ranking, was about to hate you lol but seriously Ustinov as a postgraduate is a great place, clean, organized and has a great view. It's usually calm as everyone is trying to hit some books.

An important thing to consider, is whether you can afford to live out of college in your second year, because if you can't I think Castle and St Hild and Bede's ranking should change drastically (especially hild bede their facilities outside of first year are shocking). I live in Durham and I see people from Hild & Bede walking by the duel-carriage way to commute in because that's how far out the second/third year's accommodation is. I think he's put St Aidan's as irrelevant people essentially, no one wants to walk up the massive staircase to get there, but once you're up there its a really nice college actually! But yeah, obviously don't take one or two opinions over your own research. I'd say Collingwood is the best hill college, Mary's is also great for sport, Trevelyan is great for music but VERY small. St Chad's is the best of the Bailey colleges.

I go to Durham and just want to say you have to factor whether you want to have shared room or not. A lot of popular Bailey colleges have shared rooms which some people don’t like but it might be your thing. Hill colleges are a safe bet if you want a room to yourself :)

As someone at Castle I can say that personally I wouldn't apply here! That's probably controversial but realistically you'll end up in accommodation somewhere irrelevant, with only a slight chance of actually being in the castle

Tfw you're a low-income immigrant from the poorest part of the UK, and Hatfield is your 1st choice... I mean, I'm sure I'll do fine anyhow. As it stands my choices after that are Castle, St Chad's, St John's, St Cuthberts, St Hild & St Bede, and after that it gets increasingly irrelevant as the rest was just done to get Trevalyan to the very bottom of the list.
