I Reacted To The Craziest Pokedex Entries 

In my opinion the best dex entry is Alolan Ninetales Ultra Sun entry: “The Reason it guides people to the mountain’s base is because it wants them to hurry up and leave.”

My favorite pokédex entry is swablu's "For some reason, it likes to land on people’s heads softly and act like it’s a hat." I just find it super adorable

I love a lot of the entries in legends arceus since they are very clearly written by Laventon and show his personality, like how he talks about not understanding porygon's biology because the game takes place in the past before technology has developed.

I think my favorite one is Sudowoodo from Arceus where it says “even kids know it’s not a real tree”

My favorite Pokédex entry is the one on snorlax in legends arceus. It says, "This glutton appears in villages without warning and devours the entirety of their rice granaries-such occurrences have long been counted among the gravest of disasters."

8:39 and imagine that in gen 9, they actually followed up on this entry and gave Primeape an evolution whose literal method is using a move called RAGE Fist enough times that Primeape basically dies and becomes a fighting/ghost type (the first non-mythical fighting/ghost type, btw). That is amazing how they're building off pokedex entries to give new evolutions to pokemon.

I love how according to the Pokédex, Lampent is the Pokémon equivalent of the saying: “If you own a cat and you die, your cat will just eat you.” I also love how in Sword it’s referred to as “an emissary of death”. Edit: My favourite specific Pokédex entry is Cherubi’s from Legends Arceus. Where it claims that when it evolves it drops the ball of nutrients from its body for other Pokémon to feed on. It’s actually a very wholesome entry that foreshadows Cherrim’s nature (or more so ability) as a Pokémon that exists to assist other Pokémon.

Change: In Legends: Arceus, the Indian Elephant mentioned in Raichu's Pokedex entry was changed to say Copperajah.

Kadabra's always stands out to me. "It happened one morning, a child with extrasensory abilities woke up as a Kadabra." Why the hell is this so damn casual?????

One of altaria’s Pokédex entries is that when it makes friends with a human, it wraps its cloud wings around them and hums a peaceful melody. This is the reason it’s my favourite Pokemon, it’s just so wholesome

My personal favorite is Porygon Z in Legends Arceus, I just think it’s funny how worried it makes Laventon.

10:04 Macargo is one of my favorite pokedex entires, but it's because it says that any water that makes contact with it evaporates. WELL THAN WHY IS IT 4 TIMES WEAK TO WATER

One of my favorite entries comes from Alcremie's Gigantamax form in Pokémon Shield just because of how insanely ridiculous it is. "It launches swarms of missiles, each made of cream and loaded with 100,000 kilocalories. Get hit by one, and your head will swim."

Some of my favorite recent entries are for the various forms of Rotom in PLA. It's fun seeing that Laventon clearly has no grasp as to what the modern appliances Rotom possesses are, so he just guesses what they are (mostly as strange variants of things he is familiar with)

My favorite dex entry is golissopod's shield entry where it mentions that it and grapploct hunt each other and have an epic fight to the death in a sunken ship, where the winner eats the loser.

Spectrier from Sword: “It probes its surroundings with its senses, save one - it doesn’t use its sense of sight. Spectrier’s kicks are said to separate soul from body.”

I was expecting Litwick's entry to be the one about its flame burning brighter and eerier when it consumes a child's soul.

My favorite pokedex entry is Dracovish's Sword Entry: "Powerful legs and jaws made it the apex predator of its time. Its own overhunting of its prey was what drove it to extinction."

My favorite Pokedex entry was for either Sandyghast or Palosand, don't remember which. But it said something along the lines of "Any who grab its shovel will be possessed and forced to build up the pokemon and make it larger." Something like that. What can I say? I love the possession/mind control angle.

Someone had apparently did some math regarding Magikarp splashing over a mountain. They apparently found that should it do that, it can easily reach terminal velocity and with it's mass, can pulverize someone that is unfortunately in that Magikarp's landing zone

Gourgeist has some of my favorites, there's a different one for each size. Small pretend to be kids to take adults to the afterlife, large pretend to be adults taking kids to the afterlife, and super sized will just take anyone LOL Average size are just chillin. The wails are said to be souls suffering in the afterlife. Also all of the sizes sing as it strangles its prey so that's cool.

Bewear in Moon: “This Pokemon has a habit of hugging its companions. Many trainers have left this world after their spines were squashed by its hug.” And in Sword: “Once it accepts you as a friend, it tries to show affection with a hug. Letting you do that is dangerous-it could easily shatter your bones.” I always thought Stufful and Bewear are adorable but my god they can kill you. Also forgot to mention that Stufful’s Shield entry says that its cute flailing can snap large trees.

John: “what else other than clefairy and clefable has the moon turned into living Pokémon? Lunatone: Am I a joke to you?

I just imagine Drampa with a can full of gas and a hand full of matches like “gonna bully my boy Jimmy, eh? Not today!”

I like hisuian typhlosian’s entry, it’s wholesome and it’s entry may have made it my favorite starter in legends arceus. “Said to purify lost, forsaken souls with its flames and guide them to the afterlife. I believe its form has been influenced by the energy of the sacred mountain towering at Hisui's center.”

My favorite is Relicanth's Ultra Moon Dex entry because it is apparently the perfect lifeform

My favorite is Golurk’s Pokédex entry from Ultra Moon “When the seal on its chest is removed, it rages indiscriminately, turning the whole town around it into a mountain of rubble.”

I really like Rhyperior's Pokémon go entry,it says that" it will fill it's empty palms with rocks and uses its muscles to shoot them out, sometimes,geodude are shot out of it's palms."

Especially how Sudowoodo is popular among the elderly. That made me laugh. 🤣

Yes, most Megas are in pain. Glalie's Sun/Moon entries "The excess energy from Mega Evolution spilled over from its mouth, breaking its jaw. It spews endless blizzards." and "It envelops prey in its mouth, freezing them instantly. But its jaw is dislocated, so it's unable to eat them."

My favourite entry is gengar's, the "give up." one. There's just something so terrifying in this. Sure, there's a lot of killing people pokemons but you can avoid most of them when you have enough knowledge (like staying away from drifloons, being careful with mimikyu's), are a threat when you're already dying (like lampent) or just kills you before you can think of it/feel any pain (like crobat). With gengar everything's fine and suddenly you can feel he's near. You know you're probably dying soon and there's nothing you can do. Also we know how playful usually is gengar. Who knows how much he might follow you, hiding in the shadows, laughing at you before ending your life. I just love all about him

One of my favorite Sw/Sh entries is for Dusknoir. “…swallows its target whole. The soul is the only thing eaten. Dusknoir disgorges the body before departing.” Why didn’t Dusknoir from Gen 4 Mystery Dungeon try that?

My absolute favourite Dex entry is from FireRed, and it's of Geodude. "Its round form makes it easy to pick up. Some people have used them to hurl at each other in a snowball fight." Like, WHAT if you throw a ROCK during a Snowball fight, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!

I like chandelure's pokemon Y dex entry: " The spirits burned up in its ominous flame lose their way and wander this world forever"

my fav is probably rowlets ultra moon entry that says it loves cramped spaces and uses its trainers pockets or bag as a nest. its a callback to the anime and ash's rowlet loving his backpack

One of my favorite pokedex entries comes frome swampered In leaf green. To paraphrase, Its rock hard arms can destroy anything, it builds its nest in the most beautiful place ever. I just find the sheer contrast between these two sentences so funny Also zoroark has a weird one from shield, it basically says that lonely trainers tell zoroark to show them illusions to ease there burden

Real-world references were okay in Gen I because the only region that existed was named after a real-world location as well, so it fit back then. They're progressively replacing all real-world references for their pokémon-world equivalents on the dex entries. Raichu's "Indian Elephant" got replaced by "Copperajah". They'll probably replace "Eiffel Tower" for "Prism Tower" if Ponyta's dex entry ever gets used again.

My favorite Pokédex entry is Rhyperior’s where it talks about it shooting geodude or roggenrola from its hands.

I''ve been a huge fan of ghost types ever since the ghastly line was introduced in the anime. My particular favorite dex entries come from Gourgeist. In XY/ORAS, Gourgeist wander the streets during the new moon singing. If you hear it you'll be cursed. In SW/SH, If the Gourgeist is small it will pretend to be a child and if an adult falls for the act, it'll take them to the afterlife. The opposite is true for large Gourgeist, it will pretend to be an adult and lead children to the afterlife. BUT my favorite is the entry for Super Sized Gourgeist in Sword "Supersized Gourgeist aren't picky. They will forcefully drag anyone off to the afterlife."

I´m not completely sure but I think the dex entry for Sudowoodo may be a reference to the fact that taking care of Bonsai trees is a pretty popular hobby among japanese elderly people.

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the Pokédex is controlled by Rotom, and Rotom is a prankster spirit, meaning that a lot of the Pokédex entries are probably it pranking us.

My favorite Pokédex entry is the one where it says Grimer was made from X-rays from the moon, it just makes no sense and I love it

Even though sliggoo’s entry is cursed, the goomy line (especially goodra) are my favorite Pokémon so I still love the little derp that is sliggoo

I like 3 pokedex entries and 1 of them is Greninja's pokedex entry:It appears and vanishes with a ninja’s grace. It toys with its enemies using swift movements, while slicing them with throwing stars of sharpest water. 2nd is smeargle"s pokedex entry :A special fluid oozes from the tip of its tail. It paints the fluid everywhere to mark its territory.

Funny that Primeape's evolution is a nod to that dex entry. Annihilape is part Ghost, so it's literally a dead Primeape that died from anger

I have to go with my favorite Pokémon Dagonite for my favorite dex entry. This coming from its sun and moon dex entry, Incur the wrath of this normally calm pokemon at your peril, because it will smash everything to smithereens before its satisfied. Which is so different then its normal dex entries where it mentions that it saves people from drowning and is such a kindhearted pokemon. Its just so funny and ridiculous

Slowbro: Slowpoke became Slowbro when a Shellder bit on to its tail. Sweet flavors seeping from the tail make the shellder feel as if lif is a dream. Slowpoke: Slow-witted and oblivious, this Pokémon won’t feel any pain if it’s tail gets eaten. It won’t notice when it’s tail grows back, either.

some of my fav dex entries, i cant chose one favortite lol: Umbreon (sun) - "When this Pokemon becomes angry, its pores secrete a poisonous sweat, which it sprays at its opponent's eyes." Luxray (black/white) - "It can see clearly through walls to track down its prey and seek its lost young." Magikarp (soulsilver) - "A Magikarp living for many years can leap a mountain using Splash. The move remains useless, though." these are the ones i can remember also bonus to Cacturne entry in the video, it doesnt seem as bad with the one entry but i must relay knowledge that scars me to this day: (Sapphire) "If a traveler is going through a desert in the thick of night, Cacturne will follow in a ragtag group. The pokemon are biding their time, waiting for the traveler to tire and become incapable of moving." doesnt sound as bad but lets pair it with a different entry (FireRed/LeafGreen) - "It lives in deserts. It becomes active at night when it hunts for prey exhausted from the desert's heat." _its hunting people_

The gengar entry makes sense because when you die in the tower (with ghost marrowak) you turn into a ghastly so the gengar has been dead for so long it evolved from a ghastly to gengar and most likely kills people to turn them into a ghastly to use as a traveling companion because then they can go places at the same pace so no one gets left behind on their travels Good luck gengar

So I guess that makes Frosslass a Serial *chiller.* 😎

I have 2 favourite Pokédex entries but they have to go together to make sense, they’re both for Legends Arceus Teddiursa: “It licks its paws because of the sweet honey that has soaked into them. It is cunning, stealing into the nests of Combee and taking for itself the honey that the Combee have amassed.” And then Vespiquen: “Commands its subjects to build its hive. It will dispatch any interlopers who dare sneak into its nest and use them as nourishment for itself.” This is obviously very horrifying but it’s also really interesting to me, I really love a Vespiquen thanks to a really positive experience I had with it in a mono bug run I did and this just adds to its badassness, irl queen bees literally have to fight to the death to see who gets to be queen and it’s very likely the same happens here

Another gem from Shield: Galarian Darmanitan - Zen Form: “Darmanitan takes this form when enraged, it wont stop spewing flames until its rage has settled, even its body starts to melt.” So basically in this form, when its angry, it burns everything down that it kills itself from intense heat.

QOTD: my favourite pokedex entry of all time is pidove's shield entry: “It’s forgetful and not very bright, but many Trainers love it anyway for its friendliness and sincerity.” because that's just me, it's just a little bird me also pidove's german name is dusselgurr which basically translates to sillycoo (affectionate) or goofcoo (affectionate)

My favorite pokedex entry is Honchkrow's from Soul Silver: "It is Merciless by nature. It is said that it will never forgive the mistakes of it's murkrow followers." To briefly summarize, if a murkrow fails to bring food, the honchkrow will hunt it down, and possibly, kill it.

heres a couple pokemon that have contradicting dex entries araquanid "It delivers headbutts with the water bubble on its head. Small Pokemon get sucked into the bubble, where they drown." "Despite what its appearance suggests,it cares for others. If it finds vulnerable, weak Pokemon, it protectively brings them into its water bubble." Magikarp "A Magikarp living for many years can leap a mountain using Splash. The move remains useless, though." "An underpowered,pathetic Pokemon. It may jump high on rare occasions,but never more than seven feet."

My favorite is Ultra Moon Paras: “The mushrooms, known as tochukaso, are controlling the bug. Even if the bug bugs the mushrooms, they tell it to bug off.”

So, I knew about Parasect, but I really grew to like my paras in let's go pikachu because of its cute eyes. When it evolved, ot lost its pupils and I realized the mushroom has just eaten the bug and it bulging out the eye holes. It was a super creepy realization.

My favorites are: "It's very friendly toward people. If you grow close to it, Goodra will hug you with its sticky, slime-covered body. Don't get mad."ーGoodra, Ultra Sun AND "Flygon whips up a sandstorm by flapping its wings. The wings create a series of notes that sound like singing. Because the 'singing' is the only thing that can be heard in a sandstorm, this Pokémon is said to be the desert spirit."ーFlygon, S/AS

Try reading through the Pokémon handbook (galar) and see those entries. Every page will creep you out. Try starting with Gengar. Or look between agislash’s entry in both the alola and galar ones. It turns from a Pokémon that lives with kings to mind controlling people and Pokémon to force them to make kingdoms. Weird.

The first one is kind of debunked. The “Indian Elephant” is Copperajah. An updated version of this dex entry I think is in Legends Arceus

There seems to be an alarming number of children who got lost and died in the forest. Actually, there are an alarming number of Pokemon that are actually spirits of people possessing things in general. Maybe a version of Paras/Parasect that grows a garden on its back. Maybe you could occasionally get berries from it? Gengar's entry is in keeping with the Mystery Dungeon series.

QOTD: My favorite pokedex entry is Gardevoir and Gallade. I love Gardevoir who see the future and protect its trusted trainer. I love Gallade who is honorable warrior who seek out those who need help and aid them in battle.

in SwSh Hattrem's entry says: "If you bring strong emotions of any kind towards this Pokemon, it will silence you violently" And I think that is scarily relatable...

oh that parasect thing is a concept im doing for my fan game, except its a branch evo for paras. if you have it hold the fungicide item when it gets to evo level, it will become the new pokemon (no name yet)

Heedless of its own safety, Zoroark attacks its nemeses with a bitter energy so intense, it lacerates Zoroark's own body.” I just find who’s amusing because this is a children’s game that made a Pokémon that is too angry to die

I faintly remember Banette's dex said it was a toy that was thrown away and now after the original owner for revenge.

A entry i think is pretty weird is sylveon’s entry in arceus since in previous entries it states how sylveon is able to calm pokemon with its ribbonlike “feelers” but arceus says that they are instead ribbon shaped organs. Pretty disturbing for an eeveelution entry. Ps: If im reading the entry wrong please let me know

My favorite Pokédex entry is the one for Latios and Latias “It flys through the sky faster than a fighter jet” normally, this wouldn’t be funny but Latios and Latias have a base speed stat slower than Purugly.

Joltik is not only my favorite pokemon, but it said to be found on the butts of wild Yampers

My personal favorite is what you get when you put together M-Salamence's original SM Dex entries: It bisects anyone and anything in its flight path (the Dex specifies ANYONE tho) and it has a reputation of turning on its own Trainer, to the point it is called the blood-soaked crescent. So, you have a fair chance of dying MESSILY if you Mega Evolve your Salamence. Jeezus.

About that Dusclop picture it's from the movie Jirachi: Wish Maker, the first pokemon movie with May and Max, if you were wondering. ^^

I’ve always been under the impression that mega evolution (and also dynamaxing but I’m not actually sure if I got that idea from the game) cause Pokémon a significant amount of pain, and therefore refused to use it

of cause mega evolutions have all painful dex entries. the entire point of megas is that the pokemon gets filled up with so much energy that it literally rips apart the body and explodes out.
