You should read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid! I promise you if you liked Daisy Jones and The Six you'll love this one even more. Its the book that got me back into reading and my favorite of all time.
i love the way haley talks about christianity. i’m not a christian and i normally get annoyed by christians pushing their agendas, but the way haley will just say “it’s a christian book, i recommend it if you’re christian” or “he’s a christian author, but it gives a good perspective even if you’re not christian” is just really comforting and doesn’t make me want to roll my eyes. it’s great how it’s there for people who are, but not super in your face. haley got me back into reading and i love her so much 💗💗💗 have a great new years haley + everyone reading book recs: she’s too pretty to burn, field notes on love, boyfriend material (fake dating trope), they both die at the end, six months later, one of us is lying (a good girls guide to murder type of thriller)
Girl, thank to you I get out of a reading slump I've had for literally one year. I don't know what to do to show you my gratitude. Thank you, i love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
just seeing you post about your love for books made me get out of my reading slump! i’m an avid reader who hasn’t read anything good in 5 months! you inspire me thank you!
You seriously just became my favorite booktuber!! I have not come across another book channel with similar convictions to me when it comes to what they consume. Please don’t stop reading or making videos! ♥️
my favorite thing in books is when the name of the book appears in the story making it all make sense it just makes everything come together and it gives you that realization
daisy jones is so amazingggg. haley is rlly making me wanna read the atlas six, its been on my TBR for sooooooo long and im so excited for it but I don't have the patience to wait for the rest of the books ughh.
these book vlogs brought back my same love for books too so thank youuu. Ruthless Elimination of Hurry was my first introduction to John Mark Comer a couple of years ago and he quickly became one of my favorite christian authors. His book Garden City is one of my top books I recommend to EVERYONE.
if you love the inheritance games the author jennifer lynn barnes also has a duology called debutantes. it’s really good and i just finished the second book!! it gets a lil crazy at the end but overall highly recommend.
I love how I started following you like 5 years ago ’cause you were a Christian dancer like me and I used to tell my mom about you, that’s how excited I was about finding your channel! Now I’m an ex dancer as well and got into reading in the past year and when I heard that you were getting into reading as well I was so happy!!
Hey Haley! I recommend Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gail Honeyman. It is heartbreaking and humorous! I think it’s beautifully written and Eleanor is such a likable character.
aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe is my absolute favorite book, i read it one night. I think i’ve peeked you having it in one of your main channel videos but if you haven’t read it yet you definitely should. The writing styling is beautiful and i just love the story line and how much time is covered in those 300 some pages. It really shows you the blossoming of their romance
i read redeeming love because u recommended it in an earlier video and i LOVEDDDD it. dudeee it was so powerful, i got a bit fed up at points but just such a powerful and great book.
addie larue was slow because she lived 300 years and her life was slow. it's supposed to make you feel like you're living at her pace and like it took you 300 years to get through it.
I kinda feel like like even if the point was good and a creative choice, If the book is straight up boring/tedious to get through, I’m not gonna appreciate it no matter what the thought process was behind the artistic choice. Just my opinion tho
I love rewatching this video when its a slow day at work bc as she gets faster throughout the video I start working faster as well 😅 I love her videos!
i'm not a big reader, but after following your reading journey i really wanted to start read myself so i got myself a book and i started now in december! i struggle with reading and mix words up so i use a long time reading something, but i still try because you inspire me! thank you so much
i highly recommend reading hunger games series or legend series they are both pretty easy to read and as someone who has not always been a reader they drew me in so much with lots of action and light romance
I would really recommend the book ' where the crawdads sing' if you like romance but with really good writing and the 'one of us is lying' series which doesn't have as good writing but is still really good (in my opinion) and btw you have literally made my reading list so long and I love your content
okay i COMPLETELY agree with the wall of winnepeg and me, but PLEASE read hands down by her because it is SO MUCH BETTTER!!! literally you can connect with the characters so much more
you should read The Six Crimsion Cranes! by Elizabeth Lim. its a fantasy but with a sub plot of romance with a unexpected ending, its a really easy read and my favorite book
Also, could you do a video about how reading more has impacted your life? such as are you sleep more? do you find yourself on your phone less? and you doing mentally better all around?
please read one of us is lying and one of us is next! it’s kinda like a high school murder mystery and it also has multi-perspective! I feel like it’s an easy read that’s also very good
I recommend The Summer I turned pretty series. It’s about frankly friends who summer on the cape. It’s childhood best friends to lovers and there’s a long triangle. It’s being made a tv show too rn!! I also recommend the Selection series it’s hard to explain but it’s like the bachelorette but wholesome. It deals with different classes and royalty. The Light we lost is also a beautiful book based on the right person the wrong time trope. It spans over a long period of time reminds me of Normal people. Which you also should read!
I would recommend reading 5 feet apart. It was an amazing book and I think you would enjoy reading it. It has some romance and sadness in it at the same time. It was really engaging and it was a fast read.
I'm skeptical about reading that because I couldn't get into the book 'All This Time' by the same author. But I heard 5 feet apart was so good and I'm so tempted
i truly love a lot of the books that you have loved! some of my favorites in 2021, were the seven husbands of evelyn hugo, renegades trilogy, the shatter me series, heartless
Hey Haley! I just found your channel around Christmas and have binged so much of your content! I have gotten so many good book ideas from you already and can't wait for more in the new year! Thank you
Why almost all the books in a world are not interests me??? They're all names are boring and lacking values. Take a look at it yourself: " 21st cigarette ", " Man and a beer ", " Her tea cup and a sea ", " How to paint my window ", " A train by the beach ", " Why men needs to be with men all their life ", " Socks on a laundry ", " How to get your girfriend's friend ", Leaving my spouse ", " How to catch a fish anywhere ", " Juan's dog ", " Throw me the ball ", " People that play soccer ", " Last drink ", " How to accept the old age ", " Hey, George! ", etc. WTH??? Am I a alien or you all feel like me?
I just finished Dial A for Aunties!! I see it in the background there👀 You should definitely read it!! An easy, fun, quick read that isn’t just romance
my favourite books this year were: legendborn - tracy deonn (ya fantasy with romance subplot) the flatshare - beth o'leary (super cute romance) instructions for dancing - nicola yoon (short ya romance)
I agree with so many of your reviews! I recommend The Guest List by Lucy Foley. It’s a murder mystery and switches between the perspectives of 5 suspects. I definitely don’t think it’s perfect but I would love to hear what you think about it!
hey haley! i would recommend reading “What Alice Forgot” by Liane Moriarty! It’s a contemporary book with a romance subplot and I think you would really like it! 🥰
So excited to read Redeeming Love hopefully soon! I got the book for my grandpas Christmas present and he said it was one of the best books he ever read. I read The Masterpiece and really loved it so I got him that for his birthday and he just finished and loved it. I need to read more Francine Rivers and Christian romance in general
If you haven't tried anything by Beth O'Leary's yet I highly recommend them for a warm, easy to read romance 🥰 the Flat Share was my fave but The Switch was wonderful too!!
I would recommend the switch by beth o'leary!! it's kind of like the movie The Holiday but the characters are so well crafted and it's very lighthearted and easy to read!!
I see you got Dial A for Aunties there, you should really pick it up soon! It is my last book of the year and it was just so much fun and extreme in the best possible way
Six of Crows took me a couple tries to get through but I finally finished it then I decided to get the second book as an Audio book and I ripped through it and now it's on my top tier, idk man just something about the character arches coming together in the end, kaz's development in particular and ofc the kaz/inej romance *chef's kiss*
I had the same experience…few attempts for the first book then got hooked and then zipped through the second book and just honestly became one of my favourite book series ever!
Fell in love with reading again when I was 19, 23 now and it's crazy how I just stopped reading in my earlier teens. I love all your recommendations and defo read books simply because you recommended them, apart from ugly love I didn't think it was that great lool so that's probably the only place we disagree lol
Wow, her take on Vicious is really interesting and, in my opinion, a tad concerning. I'm always a bit taken aback when someone's world view is so narrow they can't stomach any sort of media that challenges their own beliefs. Eli's religious justification of murder was not portrayed positively in the novel, in fact by book 2 in the series he is the clear antagonist. Schwab uses his character and the extreme example of murder to critique the general trend in society of using religion to justify one's behaviour, while also commenting on the inherent judgement rooted in organized religion. None of this is anti-Christian or anti-religion in general - it's just a choice made by the author to provoke thought and reflection. If you are firm in your belief, reading this probably won't change your mind at all, but it may allow you to see things from a different perspective, just momentarily. Obviously she doesn't need to like the book, but the reasons she gave are concerning to me, as I think it's important that everyone - regardless of personal beliefs - consumes media that challenges them, expands their world view, and elicits thought and questioning. This is an essential part of growth. That's just my take.
when is it that she talks ab vicious? i’m currently reading it! i don’t follow haley anymore bc i used to follow her when i was younger but her new book content just isn’t for me and i prefer other booktube creators, but i’m still curious about what she had to say about the book!
I had the same reaction. It's fine to not like a book, but if you push it away because it depicts a realistic example of a person of faith committing violence, that's disappointing. It's okay for a book to make you uncomfortable; it will help you learn more about yourself and where you actually stand in your beliefs. A lot of Christians might be good people, but in my opinion you can't be a completely good religious person if you deny or ignore the horrors your religion has inflicted on the world. However, I think Haley is young and maybe a little naive, but she has a good heart and an open mind and I believe that she will learn to recognize when something is a legitimate critique of the violent impact many religious people have had on the world, and so become stronger and more grounded in the good things about her faith.
I think you are missing the point of what she’s saying. Stories like this don’t really sway our belief, its just makes us uncomfortable or sad or even angry to be reading about a character that turned something beautiful that changed our lives into something so hateful. The book is just not something she wants to read, and it sounds like something I don’t want to either. It doesn’t make her naive and her spiritual growth has nothing do with her intellectual growth so I don’t think her being young has anything to do with it either. I could be wrong about haley’s take but this is my opinion, anyway love your recs haley!!✌️😊
When she was talking about this book I took at as her giving an example of a theme that shows this book was a lot darker than she thought. It seems she doesn’t like darker books and a lot of the books she likes and reads are lighthearted romance. While I do think you can grow and learn from media that makes you uncomfortable, I don’t think it’s essential to read books that challenge you. I don’t think there’s anything concerning with wanting to read light hearted books that don’t require much thought.
I think you would really enjoy reading Mitch Alboms book they are super quick and i personally love his writing style and he is an amazing story teller my 3 favs are 1. The 5 people you meet in heaven 2. For one more day 3. Tuesdays with Morrie (I don't usually enjoy male authors books but he is one of the rare few i like) *** PSA: i cried in all of them haha
Ok girl I neeeeeed you to read ONE OF US IS LYING it is a murder mystery with some love sprinkled in and I’m absolutely obsessed it got be into reading and I’m about to read the sequel truuuust me girl it’s great! Edit: Also I love you so much u always make my day better❤️❤️
One of us is lying got me into reading then I went and read the good girls guide to murder series then the inheritance game series and then a lot of book tok videos and if it wasn't for one of us is lying idk where I would be today seeing as reading is a part of my daily routine. All time favourite books
i just finished Love & Other Words!! loved it, thanks for the rec! did you know that Christina Lauren isn't actually a real person... it's two people named Christina Hobbs & Lauren Billings!! love the way they write together!
i understand what you mean about the colleen hoover books despite my deep passionate love for her writing lol. I think you should read hopeless because that book felt like more of a deep intricate story especially at the end. it is a bit of a slow burn so that’s something to keep in mind but i absolutely loved it and i think it is the book you should read if you think you don’t like colleen hoover :)
