Definitely adding The Christmas Wish to my list of reads for the holidays. My top Christmas book I got around to this year was ‘Christmas Bookshop’, which is a release from last year but it’s set in a bookshop, in Edinburgh, over December and Xmas. And ultimately, as much as it has a love story to it, the core relationships in it are the main character’s broken relationship with her sister, and her sister’s little kids. Wholesome, funny, festive, and lovely. With a sprinkle of mystery about the bookshop owner.

I am so glad you picked up The Christmas Wish, Lucy, I just read it and loved it - cried and laughed too! I have always been a prolific reader of pretty much anything, but Lindsey Kelk is easily my favourite fiction author for when you need a book to read when you are feeling down because reading her books feel like you're being told a story by a really good friend. I love all of her books because her humour is spot on, she gives the most amazing descriptions and reference points to make you feel like she knows you and what you've been through and they offer the perfect escape. She has a channel on here too. I have all her books and anytime I need to escape and laugh, it's her books I return to over and over. Terry Pratchett and Bill Bryson are also firm favourites. Love your channel Lucy, been watching you for a while because your videos give me the same feeling as Lindsey's books - so thank you!

I love Lindsey Kelk, she's a good writer and super funny. I read the I heart series when I was super young and loved it a lot. I heart New York is the first one and the best one in my opinion. I just quite like the characters she writes. I have not read most of the books she has but I do remember reading one of her earlier ones that just wasn't the best so maybe her latest work is better

I found you from your what i got for xmas video which i watch to get ideas for my kids and i just wanted to say that i really enjoyed it and have watched a couple of other videos of yours including this one - i am moved to comment because I have read a number of these books and REALLY agree with everything you said about “one day in December “ i can’t understand why anyone would write a romantic book about this sort of love triangle - it’s just really sad. I always buy a couple of books each christmas which then come out every year for guests/family to read and this is the only one i have passed on to the charity shop!

I suppose it’s late now….. but the absolutely BEST most lovely, cozy, sparkly Christmas books I’ve read are the Lovelight Farms series by BK Borison set on a Christmas Tree farm. Sooooo magical!! Pop on Taylor Swift’s Christmas Tree Farm (Old Timey Version) and snuggle up for some great reads.❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️🎄❤️ Definitely five candy canes!!! This reminds me of some opening lines I thought of last time you mentioned the "great big guy, tiny little woman" trope. The novel might start out something like this: "Can I reach that for you?" That's a shame re Window Shopping, I wanted to get that last year but it was so difficult to find physically. Merry Little Meet Cute was cute for sure. I read quite a few Christmas ones in Dec, for what you're looking for I would recommend The Christmas Bookshop, The Christmas Escape, Keeping a Christmas Promise (you can probably get all these on sale in The Works) and I would really recommend Midnight in Everwood, if you want snow, Christmas, sweet treats and magic this is definitely the book for you. It's a Nutcracker retelling, which, again, is a classic for Christmastime 🙂

Thank you Lucy! I’ve had One Day in December on my bookcase for years and it’s now likely to remain there a bit longer... For a really gorgeous romance with realistic characters and a lovely pooch I highly recommend Rescue Me By Sarra Manning. She is The Queen of romance for me and always leaves me with a massive smile on my face after finishing her books. Thanks for the F.A.B content over the years - Merry Boxing Day to you! xx

I finished Not just for Christmas by Natalie cox yesterday. It was delightful. Can reccomend. Let it snow was also one I finished last week, it's YA but 3 little stories that all cross over. Nice read as you feel you accomplish something quicker with the end of one story to the next.

My favourite thing is when I start to read a book based on a tiktok rec without reading anything about it, and I go to my bf "oh wait I think they're gonna ****". A few hours later we'll be eating dinner and I'll out of the blue go "oh yeah by the way the book got SMUTTY" and then I describe things in detail in a comedic fashion while we're eating pasta.

Has anyone here read any Charles Dickens besides A Christmas Carol? I read Oliver Twist recently and really struggled with his writing style. I vowed never to read a Dickens again but Lucy is making me want to try A Christmas Carol! Is it any different or better? My problem with Oliver was that the sentences were all about 15 lines long and had 7 commas in

A Christmas Carol is more like a story?tale than a book as we think of them. I find it an easy read and read every Christmas. I just find it gives me some Christmas spirit. I know what you mean about his other books.
