The letter "E" is important for code breaking. If you do a frequency analysis on a substitution cipher, it is easy to figure out what symbols are used as code for the letter "E." This is simple code breaking, but it's best to start with the fundamentals. These books, that omit the letter "E", always remind codebreakers to expect the unexpected when people really want to keep secrets hidden.

It’s amazing how humans can form strings of words without utilizing a particular symbol! I was actually trying to find an annotation that don’t contain this particular symbol! That author also had a fallacy or two in his writing, but it’s still fascinating!

I resisted this book because 1) it’s gimmicky, and 2) I’m very suspicious that AI was involved/utilized. However, I was curious so I’m glad you read and reviewed it. Thank you.

i LOVE meta stories like that! idk why but it just itches my brain the rigth way, i just rewatched a let's play for a video game where the narator turns out to be the villain (if you know, you know) and i'm OBSESSED

this reminds me of a book i drew/wrote when I was in first grade where everyone was aware of the narrator and just got one. The main character didn't want one so she kinda ran away and broke the narration of the book, and the mom had to go find her daughter with only dialogue I think. I didn't get very far in writing it b/c I was eight and writing stuff only in dialogue is basically impossible. I have no idea where the heck this book went but istg I had silly little pictures of it and I wonder how I thought of it lol

What this reminded of was in Gilmore Girls when Rory met the life and death brigade for the first time and they would not use the letter e.

I’m so glad you mentioned Ella Minnow Pea! It was a big deal at the time. Not Oprah book club big deal like The Many Lives of Mamma Love, but readers were definitely talking about it and loving it. For some reason I always associate it with a book that was released around the same time called Balzac and the little Chinese Seamstress. They have nothing to do with one another but I remember they would always be on the same display table.
