2 things Firstly check your lane arrows on the bus roads around the outside. Secondly you need an invisible path through the parking lots to the pedestrian area park because currently nobody can access it
I'm a big fan of invisible paths - I even used them before I found that mod (you can hide the pavement paths under other pavement). Getting pedestrians walking in areas they shouldn't is just so cool. I wish I could find a 'loitering' invisible tile piece, that would simulate how people hang around parks, etc. There are just so many place we could use those.
@@thesheq5023 I actually found several different types thanks to you... and who says you never learn anything good off of social media? 😁 Thanks Again!
Your new neighbourhood could really use a Tube station and there's a line running right underneath already. There are going to be loys of people and you've reduced the number of possible ways in with the retaining wall. I look forward to how you finish it because it serves as a way to accomplish modern infill while reducing car dependence. Unless commercial and office space is coming later, workers, at least those who aren't still working from home are going to need to commute out and in daily.
I almost cannot believe that public transit wasn't added. But I am sure that it was the plan for the next episode anyway. Somtimes i just wish that I could pause the video, and just zoom into that same game you're in, and just fly around and play around your builds. Blightea on the Wold is my most favourite map for sure. Please never stop building it.
Hindle Park sits right over an underground line, it would be a perfect candidate for either a small station or perhaps a public transport hub with a Park and Ride to service the nearby estates.
Hey Biffa, Great you managed to save this city, it is your masterwork and we all love it :) Here's the feedback :) 13.12 Have the path go up to the new area. 29:42 Name for the district: Rooibos Rising
As a fellow Brit this is my favourite series that you've done. As we both know however, to make that high density area authentic to the UK, you need to add some abandoned shopping trolleys, graffiti and some bars on the windows of the service buildings :-)
yeah I lived off one of those in Portsmouth many years ago. Concreate pub and church with community centre, abandoned car/ van/ motorbike, kids on off road scramblers (with no helmets but "kevlar" tracksuits and hoddies.) and today especially throwing fireworks and nicking cans/ crates of cider from the local shops.
You should add a pedestrian path on that large retaining wall and connect it to the pedestrian bridge by the roundabout. Then bring that path into the area you built up in this video.
Woohoo! The park filled with grass at 6:56 was one of my assets. Super excited that you showed it even if you mixed it in with the excellent Vilguards parks. 😊
Another great one Biffa! Some suggestions for you. Happy if you use none of them! 1. School fields! Lots of space on this build behind the schools for tennis courts, football, rugby and cricket pitches (all very British!). 2. could do with a corner shop, takeaways and pub near the flats. Often seen together! 3. A heritage railway. The UK has loads of history with railways. Steam or conventionally powered etc. 4. How about a country ford (I know how you love playing with water😂😂) is a very British countryside thing. Even if vehicles don’t use it. 5. Graffiti, post boxes, electrical cabinets & telephone boxes. All random and all British! 6. Royal Mail? Can’t have a British map and no postal service! 7. Service station, only accessible via the motorway. Ie, whole junction on and off, petrol station, commercial, perhaps a road service building? 8. Roadworks! Temporary traffic lights/signs/holes in the road etc. 9. Last one. Community centres. Scout halls (& camp sites), guide halls, boys brigade, st.John etc. they all need to meet etc. Keep going Biffa. You do some great stuff, I am hooked yet don’t play the game! Many thanks, Matt
Hello Biffa, another nice build... Thanks... At 13:31 it would be nice to wiggle the pedestrian path from the Roundabout up to to the new area. Maybe it can go up along the wall...
Biffa's cities all have this irreproducable vibe that just looks so nice. Everything is done to such a pleasingly high standard, you can't leave the channel without wondering what's next.
I have LOVED the Flowery Passages by Vilgard for years. They and Miyagi's Side Yards are excellent ways to improve land value and park-related happiness. Glad you did a high-density build--I need inspiration for that sort of thing.
Amazing as usual ! I envision a "commercial path" along the retaining wall. Something like a promenade with little shops and restaurants with a nice view on the city.
You went so ham with the parking; I almost thought you were building an American city. If the area has good public transit, it will be fine without this much parking. A metro connection would do very nicely for a high density area like this along with bus routes connecting to nearby areas.
@30:30 -- You'd have quite a lot of fun with the city I sent you a while ago, haha. I believe it goes between 13-18% with despawning OFF. Tips: Game loads but is so old, need to replace metro stations and check the rails for that connexion bug (you need to "move it" a few inches so they reconnect). Oh turn off parking AI too, didnt know what it was and does not need to be checked... And I use boreal without the "farmlands" theme (dunno why but map hangs with Farmlands enabled). Quite the challenge, even with what I have learned ;-)
Hi Biffa. Great looking new area. Just a couple of things the maisonettes round the central park I think would have 32 households, 16 front and 16 at the back, also maybe put some low density commercial between the bigger flats. Or plop some pub or little play ground assets between them. Where I live (in a flat). We have a pub and shop and even a Day care 200 yards away. Anyway loved the episode and LMAO at that traffic.
Hello Biffa, I recently enjoyed a visit to the UK and with my cities skylines glasses on I spotted 2 traffic things I wanted to share with you. Near larger cities you see often roundabouts with traffic lights. I can imagine the roundabout was not working very well with increased traffic and instead of rebuilding the roundabout to a crossing with traffic lights, the local government decided to combine the two options. Sometimes only lights to go on the roundabout, sometimes on just 1 leg or sometimes on the roundabout itself. Maybe this is a nice option for you to experiment with. The other thing I spotted were the extremely high trucks, as high as doubledecker busses. We don't see that kind of trucks in The Netherlands, I think most of the bridges might be to low. Maybe there are some assets to find for Blightea.
The amount of time you spend decorating is mind blowing. Well done. And I know you're not a tunnel enthusiast Biffa, but I can imagine a tunnel entrance from the side of the high wall to this area as well.
I feel like the 2 sets of bigger high-rise developments (around the 26:00 mark) would maybe have their own little play area or so - you know the kind of thing the developer includes to stick in the brochure to make it sound appealing, but it inevitably ends up being a bit crap, unused, and ultimately vandalised and the developer/housing association/landlord is too cheap to maintain/replace it. Or maybe something like a basketball court, or small skate park or... I know you've got the main park area nearby, it just feels like something you'd find there anyway, the kind of 'it's useless but it makes the planning application look good' thing.
A very British looking addition Biffa. And an excellent boost to the population! Still somewhat lacking in football pitches and that school area would benefit from having at least one. Great that Blightea is working again... of course, I'm biased but it's definitely my fave build. Closely followed by New Zealand! Really is a shame they don't have British themes on PS4 version.
you cant even get over 50??? you’d almost have to be purposefully ignorant of any information he gives out in the videos to not even do some basic changes and stay over 50
Check out guides discussing "road hierarchy" in Cities Skylines. Implementing good road hierarchy is much more effective (and more important imo) than just "lane mathematics". After that, consider mass transit options with a focus on getting sims to where they need to go (homes to shops/jobs).
@@endizza You can still use a lot of his advice to not cause traffic build ups. Intersection cramming, use of traffic circles, lane mathematics when applicable, etc.
An idea maybe for you, as the mayor of the city, maybe create the Biffa residence. Even if its just one house in the middle of the field. Love your videos, keep them coming!
I had a moment where I was like "biffa the traffic!" *keeps building* "BIFFA THE TRAFFIC" *keeps building* I was on edge waiting for you to notice lmao. Love your content!
"Council under scrutiny by government inspectors after approval of 'ugly' retaining wall. Local resident Billy Sharp commented, 'We used to be able to walk on that hill - now it's been levelled, and the wall blocks our access.' Mrs Edna Sharp added, 'It's just ugly.'" - Blightea Gazette, Nov 6, 2022
I absolutely love watching you develop new areas like that. It's a completely relaxing experience (for us viewers, that is, not for you necessarily) 🙂I was quite shocked when you showed the traffic flow percentage, though. Didn't see that coming ...😅
Maybe it would be worth adding in a metro stop in that area along with a small bit of commensal. Just because as you keep adding more homes there it could really mess with traffic and a bus mite not be as useful.
Now we have the Great Wall of Blightea. I find the amount of flattening too much at this point. This robs lots of character from the districts and is highly unrealistic imho.
Im not sure if you’ve selected a name for the park already but since it looks very much like Regent part (with the london Zoo) in London you can call it RegenTea Park
The national network railway line nearby would be a great place for a parkway station so that this area has access to rail services for both your local services and the National network. Considering the 81 tiles this could become a real life Clapham Junction.
Great council eatate. Looking forward to the terraces that'll surround it. I think even some semi detached houses would work, assuming they looked rugged enough, i feel like that area should stick to a very council estate vibe rather than a posh area. A football pitch and some basketball courts would work as well, i suppose near the school. Maybe use some of Rik's shops from his council estate high street collection, not the main town high street, i believe he has housing small high street models with flats on top too, a pub would also be nice.
Was wondering when you were going to go taller. I live in Croydon and we have 3 skyscrapers in the town centre and several 30 storey towers which have been built over the last decade to increase the residential population of the town centre. Across London there's supposed to be a few hundred 30+ storey residential towers planned to help to increase the density.
Would it be a good idea to stick a metro & maybe some busstops in the area before you start building a large high density area to minimize the influx of move-in traffic? Even if it ends up in the wrong place after your area is built you could always move/delete it later..
Looks great! In reality though a dense neighbourhood would be right where there are services (i.e. near the train station), not just pop up out of nowhere. There needs to be public transport.
a suggestion: you could plopcommercial buildings on the ground floor of high rise residential. in the UK, i think there aren't many specialised buildings only for residential, especially for a high-rise district.
Since there are a lot of Americans/Canadians playing this game, I would also look for "condo" in Find It! (or the steam work shop). There are quite a few great looking models, and I am betting some of those might also work in a British style city.....
Hi Biffa im a Big fan. You should try and recreate the road layout of Redditch (Worcestershire) the highways and roundabouts were a 'special' layout to help with traffic so its quite unique, we even have our own calendar of roundabouts because there are so many lol
Biffa: "I made a big mistake with not building enough housing and now I have very little room left, so I need to fix that." Proceeds to build a large park........
Elder care building I would like to put on separate road, parallel to the one you use, and add some (small) parking and make building less visible using trees, bushes etc.
The retaining wall you put in the new area there is a roundabout with pedestrian crossing above could a path be placed from it to the top of the retaining wall for kids to get access to the schools 👍🏻🇬🇧
I would love to see the housing complex from the amazing tv show "Misfits" in your city. It's the Southmere Lakeside complex in Thamesmead South, London.
I was wondering, with all these parkings going on, is there a mod that gives underground parking in Cities: Skylines? Because we usually have these in Switzerland, built either directly under under the buildings (sometimes several stories deep) or next to the buildings, but mostly as closed parking space.
When it was just a park, I can see (maybe) not having a service point. With housing, the service point is necessary because it also provides other services like garbage.
If I didnt see completely wrong the metro runs right underneath the new area so a nice metro station could help moving the people around and reduce the traffic. I personally love the metro in my town. The most used public transportation.
