I don't really have an opinion but some people say Spurs need defense and shooting around Victor and Topic doesn't bring that. Plus the Spurs already are number one team in the league assists/game so these people think Topic wouldn't be such a good fit.

As a Kentucky fan, he is a microwave, can get hot and then nobody can guard him but he does take bad shots if his shots are falling. When he isn’t making his shots, he forces everything. He is an awful defender and at times lacked any type of effort on the defensive end.

Thumbs up for Mikusa, lol. Rob Dillingham's number 1 on my board for the Spurs. His shot creation and shooting are good ways to get him on the floor and develop his passing and defensive chops. He can really help open things up for Wemby. To me, Rob's a younger, more moldable Anfernee Simons, which means he has a chance to develop good on-court habits that the other smaller guards haven't.

Ron Holland, Rob Dillingham and Stephon Castle are the 3 i really want in this draft, any of them or a combination would be amazing. 2 elite, athletic POA + defensive prospects and the best shot creator/movement shooter in the class who can create for others a bit is exactly what the team needs.

But unfortunately I don’t believe he’d be the best fit for our Spurs. If we’re going in the direction of a point guard with our 1st round pick I’d much rather draft Nikola Topic. Nikola is a 6’6 natural facilitator which would be a significantly better fit. If the Raptors 7th round pick pans out I’d like to get Risacher or Sarr . Although I understand that they’ll probably go sooner in the draft and Matas Buzelis or Tidjane Salaun are more realistic.

He’s an interesting prospect. Ppl saying he’s got star potential but I kinda see it as spark plug bench guy. I mean hell look at what Pop did to Devonte Graham. Still this draft is wide open and a guard who can open up the floor for Vic making TOUGH jumpers is enticing.

I would say this, lack of effort, or not having the right mind to defend, can all be fixed, especially under the Spurs' coaching staff. What you can't fix is the size and length, that's why Tre Jones is never a good defender besides the efforts he puts in. Rob definitely has the edge over Tre,Trae, Reed, and other small guards his size, which is the length I've been talking about. You don't see a 6'1~6'2 guy having a 7' wingspan all the time, it's almost as rare as Wemby's wingspan in comparison.

We definitely getting rob dillingham but think they going to grab first nikola topic=manu 2.0 from 2-6 pick and rob dillingham=tony parker 2.0 at 7th pick 🔥🙌❤️perfect draft you get top two pg's of draft class to pair with wemby/spurs then they draft jaylon tyson another big guard that can handle ball and microwave scorer 🔥💯❤️maybe get juan nunez if we miss out on nikola topic and draft risacher instead but rob dillingham definitely is a spur 💯next year definitely think he can be better than ja marant he is more focused and was better player than him in college and was coming off the bench 😳

topic has a size and passing advantage but rob will be a much better scorer, idk I’m torn between the two. If I’m being honest I’d prefer a 3 and d wing like riasacher I feel like he fits our team perfectly, I wouldn’t be mad about buzelis either, he has even more size, I just think riasacher might be the safer pick. If Toronto conveys then I think we should get a guard

I would say it works better if we have good shooters surrounding Topic and Victor,but sadly only Devin is considered a good shooter on our starting lineup now.

If somebody that small became an elite player in the league it is because they have a skill or trait that sets them apart from the other players. Curry, Nash, Spida, Parker, Morant… Those guys are unicorns. And I do not see that elite skill or trait in Dillingham. He fits more into category with guys like Anfernee Simons, Lou Will, Malik Monk. And I would not spend a top 7 pick on that.

Actually, I disagree with your last sentence. "Anfernee Simons, Lou Will, Malik Monk" are far better than most of the prospects' ceiling in this one, that's how bad it is... The potential top 2 pick Risacher, is not better than Taylor Hendricks who was drafted at 9th last season... Taylor was only a projected 3&D, while Risacher is a worse version of him. So if we draft a guy in those players' category in a small small year like this with a 7th pick, it's a steal. You need to get rid of the idea of drafting an elite player in this draft, it's not realistic... If I have to pick one Sarr could be the "Elite" defender, probably still a worse version of JJJ.

@@Leo-nc3yx I would agree with this take two years ago. But with new CBA teams have to be even more cautious with their money allocation to be able to contend longterm. Basically I would rather pay an ordinary 3&D player than those guys even though the ordinary 3&D guys is slightly worse. Guys like Rob are fine to have as long as they are cheap. Knicks with Quickley are great example of this.

Clan, unfortunately, your take doesn't persuade me. I agree his passing ability may be able to improve, but he'll be a defensive liability. I know you say you can try to hide him, but playoff coaches aren't dumb. They'll attack him. Furthermore, if defensive effort is an issue, do you want to invest a FRP in that? I feel like players, in terms of innate qualities like effort, are who they are.

Reed Sheppard or Stephon Castle. I want nothing to do with Topic. In comparison Sheppard is miles ahead when it comes to shooting and is already a better defender than Topic. Castle is not as good a passer or passing IQ as Topic, but he can pass and is miles ahead when it comes to defense, speed and athleticism.

The problem with Reed's defense will always come down to size... He can be a good college defender but got eaten alive in the league,a 6'2 guy with a 6'3 wingspan? Plus he isn't the most athletic compared to most,so I don't think his defensive upsides will transfer well.

Rob Dilli can go! Please go look at some of his advanced metrics. He is an excellent facilitator and a deadly shooter! It’s a toss up between him and Topic. He’s a better shooter, driver and defender than Topic. Topic has a better first step and facilitator than Rob. I don’t understand what people are watching. Plenty of draft info out there about Rob. Please watch and read. He’s probably the best scorer in the draft.

@@CLANtheSPURSfan Pop definitely needs to fix those if they draft him, if he can't then get rid of him like Luka. However, I would rather bet on his offensive upsides + being able to fix the defensive problem, I mean a 7' wingspan is no joke. Based on the interview he ain't arrogant, which means his attitude is fixable. I do believe if he can put in some work on the other end, he can be a stealing machine if he utilizes his length right, kinda like Blake Wesley.
