You've totally taken me back to my dorm days (mid 90s) - we didn't have cable (for TV) or electricity (for computers) - the building was renovated in like the 60s. I totally feel this expansion with all my nerdy little heart!

Does anyone else like small places? Big places scare me. I feel like it'll all just collapse onto me. You know how Asia based youtubers will be like, "Omg it is SO small in here 😭" I would LOVE that. It's cozy. I'm pretty neat so it wouldn't be much to clean up and it's fun to make use of limited space

Totally agree about the npc clothing thing, it was a blast to have everything messy but made by the sims, not clutter and also, they never did their laundry and it was disgusting in their dorm rooms because the clothes smelled so I didn’t go in there

My friend started out in freshmen dorms at our 4 year school (I lived alone off campus because I was a junior) And she shared a small room with two other girls that was actually meant for 2 people but they just shoved an extra bed in there. Two of the roommates had to share a desk and a dresser and a closet.

My best friend and I went to the same college, and our families were about an hour and a half away. Every weekend without fail, her parents would come pick her up and take her home where her mom would do her laundry. And SO many people had no idea had to do laundry.

the college experience has always some mold involved, it's what keeps us humble.

I'm currently sharing a room with 2 other people in a room that is smaller than the rooms in the dorm. 3 girls= 3 beds, 3 desks, 3 dressers, 3 closets. It is so crowded and its insane sometimes trying to walk around each other. I'm also a freshman in college so it makes sense. But I can't believe you had a single and I have a triple. We also don't have a private bathroom. We have a communal bathroom that is shared with the entire floor that has 3 stalls, 3 showers and 3 sinks. I'd definitely take this fake dorm over my real one.

I was an RA, and I can confirm that you are correct about college freshmen. We regularly had to evacuate the building for microwave fires because people didn’t put water in their macaroni/ramen.

Somehow this is still nicer than my dorm that I'm literally in right now and I'm not even in the cheapest ones on campus lmao

I love this build is reminds me of my college! Literally everything was green from the carpet to the chairs even on the walls had like green lines running down the bottom.

Oh the memories of playing The Sims 3 University Life.. Yup, the dorm roommates were so messy and stinky, left piles of clothes and dirty dishes everywhere. At some point I bought Bonehilda’s coffin and then she kept the whole dorm clean. I miss Bonehilda.

Ohhh. Speaking of people not knowing how to do laundry, we had people who broke machines cause they would put the laundry pods in the detergent dispenser. They had to put up signs everywhere.

Kayla, freshman year I had a room with two other girls, one bunk and one single, and I shared a desk and a closet with the single bed girl. I also shared a hallway bathroom with a 100 other girls on my floor. Whenever you describe what you imagine is a dorm nightmare, I feel I relate too hard.

Ommmgggg. That bathroom! My high school's colours were green and gold, so of course our bathroom stalls were green and had that awful grey floor, and your bathroom just gave me some crazy flashbacks!

Maybe also with the fancier one, add another floor to make the dorms on the top and the commons on the bottom

Love your videos. U should totally try playing Sims 2 university. Or even open for business. Both of those packs were my fav and u had control of the whole building and neighborhood. Nothing was a shell or untouchable. I loved it. It really doesn’t even feel old. I challenge u to try it and make a video!

I really wish they made it a whole building, like with all two/three floors usable. They missed out on a lot of opportunity there. Like RA rooms, laundry room, study spaces / game room. even if they weren't completely usable... I'd still like to be able to walk around. Also like meetings with RAs how they do in real life. I think there's a lot of cute little details they totally missed out on.

when i rebuilt these dorms i accidentally made them able to house 36 sims in total (16 bedroom, 8 on the top//8 on the bottom, each room was able to house 2 sims) so when i played it was eerily empty. i also had a sim get pregnant in college and she ended up having a vampire baby bc of the lot trait

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had to live in crappy dorms. And for most of my college time I had to live with a roommate.

in my dorm freshman year we had a hall bathroom and all the tiles were that color green so i can appreciate this

when Kayak started talking about college freshman not doing stuff... she made me realize one of the biggest reasons I’m going to a local community college my freshman year is because I cannot live on my own HELP ME

When I watch these sims 4 videos I get sad cause I can’t really afford sims or a computer to launch the game on but I still love watching these videos

Man my "dorm" was an expensive apartment. Had a laundry, 2 rooms and 2 bathroom and a living room, a kitchen and a balcony. Had our under ground parking spots with swimming pools and a gym. The small gym offered free yoga and stuff. Back in college freshman year.

why is kayla’s idea of a gross dorm still better than my first year halls??

personally I'm not a fan of how you are not allowed to place an oven because in the uk you would have like a communal kitchen and you have to cook your own food and then some rooms have an en-suite bathroom

I was so shocked when I moved my Sim in to the dorm and was like "wait, WHY IS EVERY ROOM A SHARED ROOM??" My uni had one building with shared rooms, and even those were split level so each person had their bed, desk and wardrobe on a different floor. Needless to say I promptly hit Ctrl Shift C and edited the hell out of the dorms in game!

5:18 someone in my dorm didn’t do laundry for TWO AND A HALF MONTHS. They got sick and their roomate ended up washing their sheets for them.

9 pm est is *2 am* in the UK. I have a maths test tomorrow and i cant decide whats more important. Watching Kayla's stream or sleeping...

I can't imagine how nice it would be to have a single dorm and a dorm hall without hall bathrooms. I remember waking up one morning and going to brush my teeth only to discover someone had stood on top of the sink counters and taking a shit on the counter. And the time someone shit in the shower and left the water on so the drain got clogged and the entire bathroom flooded with poop water. I can't wait to get this pack and build my dorm experience. Even these smaller dorms are way too big. Areas to sit and study? no. Areas to cook? no. A room bigger than a closet? no.

I share my college room with two others. One of them is a neat freak which works well for all of us. BUT GET THIS, we have no dining areas at all. We have kitchens which are stinky af where food is served 4 times a day and then we just go sit on beds and eat. A nighmare tbh but I have gotten so used to that and just being crammed in tinny spaces with friends (roomates, floormates, plus all the houses around us are just students so its plenty fun) that now that I am stuck back at home because of covid it kind of sucks a lot But hey at least I am living vicariously through sims and kayla

if you havent done the other dorm yet - you should do that one suite style (shared common area + private rooms)

I don't build a lot, but this pack really makes me want to build. I want to mess around with the dorm rooms. It seems really fun! I can't wait to get this pack
