Dawn, so glad to see your video blog, God is good and I prayed for a successful surgery. Vanderbilt saved my life and my dads twice ( although he has passed now) they are miracle workers there. Congratulations on your transplant. I pray that the side effects are manageable. I've had 2 kidney transplants and just put the 3rd on hold. I've been on dialysis 37 years and just put my 3rd transplant on hold.

I’m so happy for you. I myself am not on the machine anymore because it just wasn’t pulling out fluids as much as it should I was restarting a lot. So now I do Hemo Dialysis and I’m scheduled to get the fistula in my left arm in March hopefully there’s beds available.

Watching this vlog brought back such memories! I was there the entire time when my mom had her kidney transplant at Vanderbilt. I remember that floor that hospital chair/bed for the plus one....the window, walking the floor, how the room looked etc etc

Congratulations on your new Kidney.. I had a Kidney Transplant Sept 1, 2013. It will be 10 years this year! Wow, 3:31 from 13+ years on dialysis to now going on 10 years with my new kidney. What a journey!! I was on Hemodialysis for the first 2 years then got my tube inserted for PD. I stayed on that for over 10 years then one day coming out of the shower I got my tube caught in the towel and pulled… Ouch is all I can say, This almost destroyed me, having to go back on Hemodialysis was my worst nightmare. I had no choice, so I stayed on that for almost 2 years. It came to the point where I was crying every time they connected me to that machine,and this was not like me at all, I was always a happy and smiling person..The doctor would make their rounds to every patient and when it came to be my turn, I told them that I can feel myself dying, I’ve had enough, it’s been long enough and I have been on dialysis the longest from any other patient here. The very next morning I got the call…. Come down to the hospital. Then on Sept 1, 2013 I was no longer a prisoner to that Hemo machine..Because I was on PD for so many years it caused calcification around my intestines and organs. So I’m on a high dose of prednisone.. Have you had any issues since your transplant? Thank you for sharing your journey and I hope you didn’t mind me sharing a bit of mine.. take care!

Wow your in Nashville. Im just a couple of minutes up the road and I’m getting really close to getting prepped for dialysis. My kidney function is around 8% and I’m trying to stay strong for me and my family. Glad you received a kidney. How long were you on donor list

God bless you with post transplant health .. .My son is working in Pittsburgh , hardly 33 yrs , developed CKD after Covid.He may need dialysis after some yrs .BP is maitaining and Sr.Creayinine is 3.2 mg..

How much did the post transplant medication cost per month?

I have a question: So, they hook you up with a new kidney. Why don't you still need dialysis until your kidney is incorporated into your body with healing? I wouldn't think it would just boom! work right away. So I'm very curious.
