When I make my molds I save plastic take out containers. I just pour my silicone right into the containers with the piece I want to mold glued to the bottom. After it cures it pops right out. Sometimes I use a spatula around the edges. Its just like popping a cake out of a pan. And if you want to cut the container its no biggie. No special purchases are necessary. Hope I explained this so you understand.

@@suecampen5791 use only square or rectangle ones, so you can get a spatula underneath of the silicone after it cures. Don't use circular ones. It's not as easy. Have a blessed day!

If you have a mold filled up to the tippy top, don't use alcohol. It thins the resin. Thats why it overflowed on you. I've learned from that mistake many times 😆 I love you Sherry! Keep on crafting girl. Love your channel!

Alcohol does not "thin" the resin. It breaks the surface tension (which causes a slight doming), thus causing the resin to flow over the edge. Alcohol inks will do the same.

@fairyspunfibers9098 yes isopropyl alcohol is commonly used to thin epoxy resin. It breaks the surface tension because it actually thins the resin.

You have probably figured this out since making your first mold making video with the x's and o's, but, as you were putting your blanks down on the tape, I was talking to you through the computer, telling you that they were upside down to how they were supposed to be for the mold. You always want the best side of your blanks facing up as once you pour your mold medium, this will be the bottom of your mold cavities. I hope this makes sense. The colours you used are very pretty. Hi, I think I see what happened. The mold is thin enough that it stretched slightly out of shape when you adjusted it on the board. Thats why the resin pour gave you slightly skewed ornaments. I bet your mold is fine! You did grear! They are BEAUTIFUL!

I love the idea, and the colours you chose, but it looks ( on my screen at least) as if the pearls aren't showing up very well against the white. Perhaps switching the silver over to the white ornament, and putting the pearls and gems on the purple would help them to show up more? All in all, a great video, and I'm looking forward to your next one!

I would try a baby bulb syringe the ones you use to suction infants nose, it’s much stronger than pipettes. It’s so easy to overflow I think everyone has done this more than once.

Sherry the secret to the pipettes, is to start at the very top at the bulb and squeeze all the air out and as you squeeze the air out roll it down like fold it over itself roll it down about halfway then put it into what you want to soak up and as you release that it will suck it all the way up into the top of the pipette it takes a little practice but not that much it took me forever to figure it out and I honestly got the trick from watching Steve McDonald on Steve McDonald arts and crafts channel... if you aren't familiar with him you really should check him out first of all he's like you and me to be honest and that he does all different kinds of crafts and has two different channels and one is dedicated to mostly resin and his other channel is all his other crafts that he does but when it comes to resin and lots of neat little tips and tricks he's got them all, or at least it seems like it. so if you haven't already give him a look. I hope this helps you to master the pipette! it makes getting that excess resin out so much easier and cleaner!!

I really love these! As for your over filling, I believe the problem is that your molds take the one ounce/30 grams, but when you add paste/ink and "fillers", such as glitter, you are adding mass/volume making it more than the 1 oz/30 gram volume of just the resin alone. Also, if you use a flat layer of non-drying clay (use a marble rolling pin with height guides to flatten the clay), then cut to fit your molding side up to it, then place your items you want to mold snug against the clay, it should prevent the silicone from oozing under the items 😊 I do love watching your videos!

The next time you make a mold of that kind of ornament, you could try using an adhesive laminating sheet to stick under the mold. It would help cut down on the cutting and excess wasted silicone. If the ornaments are stuck down there will not be any silicone underneath them to cut away later.

Sherry you said you used 140 grams but you only put 50 of part a and then when the scale went off you were at about 43 of The hardener did you add more of part a and b to bring it up to 140? Not being mean just new to resin and trying to learn. Beautiful mold. Lovin this video. You got this girl. Sherry I think a brush would make it easier than that little makeup sponge to put the glitter on with. Just saying it was easier when i was told by Tiny Pandora.

Most black glitter gets lost in epoxy and looks like tar, unless its halographic, "with that being said" lol walmart brand black Onyx sparkles great under epoxy

I had an epic fail with my let’s resin housing today. I had to go two levels tall for 2 items. It did fine with glue gun, 2 sided adhesive and polymer clay. It was fine. I had to add 2 inches this AM and it leaked, I wasted 48 oz of silicone mole. No idea what went wrong. Totally gun shy now, don’t want to waste any more money.

I would be very careful using items you have purchased from the store to make molds for items you want to sell. The company that created the original owns the copywriter on those items and they can come after you.
