I renovated my whole house in a week (on a tight budget)

Two things: Did you great-grandmother immigrate to Australia and bring that chest with her? If so that's quite apt that you've made it the focus of your living area! I've got a piece of furniture that an ancestor brought over when they emigrated from the Old Country across the Pond and it feels more homey than any designer piece could possibly achieve! More importantly CONGRATULATIONS on transforming your cabin from having been virtually unfit for human and canine habitation to a truly homey and comfortable refuge for two-legged and four-legged folks. That's fantastic that you and your friends were able to make this happen! I hope you keep this in mind in the future if you ever run into doldrums when you feel as though you might not get through a challenge because, no matter, nothing can take away from the fact that you DID do something most folks would have considered too daunting! I hope your family enjoyed their new vacation retreat! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!

I'm shocked that you painted the ceiling beams white as well. I think leaving those as well as the brick exposed in their natural form would have added much more character to the space.

I Love the real brick color. It adds charm and character, and history to the cabin. Good choice to leave it.

@Max & Occy Max.... Your guest bedroom looks like it has the exact set up for something I've ALWAYS wanted to do! It looks to have the exact spacing of the beams to accept a platform with the 4 chains up to the beams! A virus 3 "Hanging Bed"!!! (You just build a sturdy platform approximately 1 inch larger than your mattress all the way around on the ground. Then suspend the platform from 1 chain in each of the 4 corners of the platform up to the beams. As tall or short as you prefer!) I truly think it would look quite amazing. BONUS: This look appears to give you more room or make the room look larger than it really is and you have space under the bed for guests to store things while they're visiting. Thus giving them more room. Also... I think black chain would look best! Wether you can purchase it that way, or have to paint it black, I'm completely unsure! Whatever you choose to do, I'm sure it'll look amazing as every step has thus far! Happy Holidays and truly wishing you the most amazing new year EVER!!! Big HUGS!!

I personally love the natural brick on the fireplace -- it adds dimension to the room. I do think it would be nice to add a shelf to the top, like a second mantle, since it doesn't quite make it up to meet the ceiling. You could put some plants up there. If you do feel the need to lighten the brick up, you could always use a limewash instead of plastic paint. It'll retain the texture and some of the base color, and as a bonus there's no off-gassing.

Keeping the brick was a good idea. If you're worried about it looking old, perhaps a bit of cleaning in between the bricks would remove dark spots and make it look better

Max so glad you managed to get a good fit on the respirator in the final scene. Very important to do a positive & negative pressure test to adjust straps accordingly and get a snug fit.

Maybe you could use the cabin as a guest house, it’s lovely. Then build your dream house on another space on your property

My favourite aspect of this whole update is seeing that you've got a sound friendship forming. Long may it last and may there be more on the horizon too. Mobile living is an adventure but having a base for ongoing friendships is a true gift. Enjoy 🙂

You need to remove old termite damage even if there’s no termites because new termites can come into the old housing. Please don’t make the same mistake we did. Take care of it while you can. We had to pay $10,000 just for one wall to be repaired later on.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Max, Occy, and the great friends Jake & Ren, have done a great job on the house. Everything looks more livable and the white makes it more uniform. Having said that, most people don't care for white paint, however, you can always add color with pillows and other decorations. Hey Max, Awesome job on the vans, double decker deck It's amamzing, We have an outdoor shower for the past 30 years and absolutly love it. The cabin reno is amazing as well. Good on you for all your hard work and dedication to all your projects. I have been watching you since the begining of covid, along with Eamon, Bec and the van wives. Love all of your adventures. My heart broke when Lee got her wings. She was such a beautiful soul. I felt like I lost a good friend. You two were magical together. Occy is precious. I'm a Calif native. When I was 19 years young, I opened up a map of the United States, closed my eyes and put my finger down on the map. I landed on Colorado and 1 week later moved to Steamboat Springs, on my own with my Newfoundland & Black lab mix., Orpheus. I lived in campgrounds, and traveled the States in my Truck. Six years with no running water or electricity. I bathed in streams until it got too cold then I would hit up a campground for hot showers. I am 65 yrs young now and looking forward to living in our small motorhome 21 ft. and traveling all through the States and Canada. People think I'm crazy to want to live on the road. When I saw all that you have been through, and had to do do to make the house livable, I could see you had reached the point when it was just too overwelming the amount of work it needed, and, where do you start, right? But watching you put so much work into it, and at every hard long task that you took, you were falling in love with the house, that is now a home on a property that was your dream place to live. You are achieving so much, you did a great job, I am amazed at how much you accomplished with your friends.
