I feel like we have fallen into Barbieception. Barbie becomes doll, Margot Robbie is cast to look like Barbie in the movie, then Mattel makes a Barbie to look like Margot Robbie as Barbie, then Poppen re-paints the Barbie to look MORE like Margot Robbie as Barbie.

I think the fact that you and your mom work together on projects is so great! Even over the distance. That's family goals, to be sure (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡ I also much prefer your take on the doll. They really should have made them fully posable. I imagine a lot of adults who grew up with Barbie want the doll as a display piece. So it would have made more sense.

Your face-ups just keep getting better and better, and your mom’s work is so impressive. (I don’t know how she manages to work at such a small scale.) I will definitely be following her on instagram! Regarding the doll’s body type: I think that it was an intentional decision to give her a more traditional Barbie body, as the movie seems to refer to their odd physiology a few times. To be honest, I would be more disappointed in a made to move Barbie in this case, as the doll is supposed to reflect the Barbie in the film, and in the film she definitely has the more traditional Barbie physiology,

We had absolutely NO Mattel cowgirl “Barbie The Movie” dolls here where I live; New England, USA. I hope that doll, with her sad issues, isn’t a harbinger of the quality to come from Barbie Mattel. Stellar work on this repaint. Much more complimentary to Margot. My tiniest quibble is that there's no photo with the plait on her shoulder. That would have really nailed it. Lovely nonetheless 😊
