I want to say "dude... you have so many pets", but the truth is you do a phenomenal job at giving them each an enriching life. And like you said, you are in a position where you're able to do this, it's amazing. I've seen the cage items you buy, they're high quality items... thanks for caring so damn much Alyssa!

Hi Alyssa, don't throw the cages away. Firstly, they can be used as emergency cages because they are so easy to set up and sturdy, and can be carried. This can be handy when you quickly need to separate your pigs, when you need a carrier for longer trips, or when something else happened and you need to leave your apartment with your animals. Secondly, the basses (plastic bottom) are great litter boxes. They are big enough for large haystacks and then still leave enough room for you piggies to comfortably eat or lay together. My piggies live in a DIY cage with an store-bought cage as a litter box. I also have 2 extra emergency store-bought cages in storage.

Those pigs probably thought they died and went to the summer land. Lol. I love that you got them and they are definitely in good hands. I hope they adjust fast. ❤️

So I have a 4x2 c&c cage but I’m really think about getting a 6x2 for my two guinea pigs. But Idont have much room I’m getting a tall dresser so I still don’t know if I have enough room….What do I do…??

I can’t explain the RAGE that I feel looking at the enclosures those poor Guinea pigs have had to live in, that’s not even lack of education that’s literally just deliberate cruelty, it’s common sense that an animal that size needs a bigger enclosure, it’s called google as well, if you don’t know what to feed an animal, GOOGLE IT! I’m so happy you’re taking them in their gonna have such lovely lives with you! 💕💕 rant over 😂

I LOVE the care and commitment you give to your herd. I know you didn't set out to have so many guinea pigs, but they're all so lucky to have you as their owner! Taking care of two guinea pigs is a lot of work already, so I can't imagine how much time and energy you must spend on them now!

This is one of the best things I've seen in a while. I can't stand the cages they were in but I love that you rescued them. They'll have a wonderful life now.

I had also got a guinea pig from someone who’s cage looked exactly like that pink cage and he had no hay, terrible food choice, no hides, wood shavings, it was crazy! and now he’s always popcorning and living his best life with me!

I feel the same way about Bettas. Good, ethical sellers give their little fish a big beautiful tank to stay in and they are healthy and well taken care of until they get an owner But the ones at a pet store get a cup and it KILLS ME. I know, in the end, the money is going to those horrible people but I can't stand the idea of not taking in one of those poor fish to give them a nice home and happy life. My baby girl Mabel had terrible fin rot and was pale white when I picked her up, but was still swimming around with so much spirit. Now she is in a nice big 10 gallon and her fins have grown back a beautiful Peraly white and her red coloring on her head is coming in beautifully. She is so happy!

That's a petsmart cage. Just had the worst experience at Petsmart but I do remember that cage being there.

I have so much respect for you for rescuing these pigs ❤️ I dont have pigs myself, but I can understand and feel the anger at improper care. I'm sorry you'll probably get shit for taking them in since people have nothing better to do with their time, but it's clear to the rest of us that you are giving them SO much care and love. I hope one of the possible pairs is able to bond!!

hi I want to build a 5x2 c&c cage with storage for my pigs but I can’t find any good grids on Amazon so can you put a link to 12x12 c&c grids by the way I need 39 grids to make the cage so I’d rather more than that

I just wanna say thank you so much for rescuing those babies. I don't know how people can be so cruel to animals. But all I know is that they are in the best home they could possibly be in. ❤️ I can't wait to see how happy they will be!

Hi!! You just inspired me to go look for Guinea pigs to rescue. Also have you ever looked into going to your local farm store and getting square bales of hay? They are so much cheaper I would definitely look into it! Great video!

Aww.. Coffee and Beans are so cute..l I can’t believe Coffee is older because he seems to have lots of energy and spunk… love that he kept flipping the food bowl… If Coffee is 3 1/2 - 4 yo then his nails will be thicker than all of your others… they may also curve more or be weirdly straight or misshapen…. Boy that Saskia can tell you the age of the guinea pig in like 2 seconds… I love her videos. We took in 2 male guinea pigs like 7 months ago… I couldn’t believe they came in the same size cage as your new boys! Two in the one small cage! They fought and humped and rumble strutted for the week it took us to order and receive their new cage…. Ours is a 2x4 but I wish it was even bigger.. they still sometimes drive each other crazy…. I don’t know how people can look at the size of the guinea pigs and the small cages and not think to themselves hmmm.. this is wrong.. (even if the pet store employees try to get you to buy them…)

This is so exciting! Congrats on your new pets!! Those old cages make me so upset, I’m glad they both have proper care now. My guinea pig Willow looks almost exactly like Beans. She has the same coloring and the black eye liner look too. My piggie Maple also has a weird tag or bite mark on her right ear, so maybe it’s common? She’s had it all her life. It’s so funny how Beans sleeps on top of his hidey lol. And the pet room looks stunning too!! Awesome video 💜😁

You should keep the cage as a medical/bonding cage for rats! I’ve used old cages for emergency travel too, like when we had to evacuate during the Oregon wildfires last year with my rats/guinea pigs/mouse (and dogs and cats but they didn’t go in small animal cages lmao ). Moral of the story is these cages can be super useful for medical and emergency cages lol

Bruh! I thought it would be actual pigs and dont go telling me, OH GUINEA PIGS ARE CALLED PIGS SOMETIMES i thought it was an actual pig because the emoji in the title.

It's sad that we have to have people "rescuing" pets from these situations- when it all could have been avoided with just a lil research. As an example, If I had a kid who wanted a pet hamster- I would challenge them to first "teach" me how they are supposed to be cared for (I would ofc double check everything) and if they give me enough correct intel I would consider it (probably would get it for them, but not as a "I want you to learn responsibility" from caring for it, rather as a companion. To teach them love and compassion for their pet and that its a part of the family now.) I've heard too many stories of parents getting a puppy for their kid and leaving it completely in the care of the said kid- Even if the dog was for the kid, its still a part of the whole family and not just a extra chore for said kid to learn "responsibly" from, when the parents don't even seem to understand its even MORE irresponsible of them to do so...

It makes me so sad that pet shops recommend these cages. When I was very young one of my guinea pigs lived a lot longer than the others, and so my parents brought her inside to live with us (they used to all live in a big hutch together with a proper run etc). Not only was she on her own, but her cage was the same size as that. I guess this was the days when people didn't really google things/ google wasn't really a big thing, and our vet told my parents the cage was fine so they believed him!!! These days though I cannot understand why people don't just google this things? It's so much easier to research proper pet care these days. I still feel so bad about it but I was just a kid. I'd love to rescue some guinea pigs someday to make up for it.

The first Guinea pig cage is the cage I have, it should be a temporary cage. Also, my Guinea pigs are still 2 or 3 months old. How old are the Guinea pigs?

I don't understand how people just get pets without doing ANY research. Like: "oh its a cute tiny pet for my child" and then they end up realising it isn't a pet that you just feed pellets and water to. Like ugh I hate people T^T

You doing a great job with the guinea pigs. God so cramped cages they lived before. Not much space to run. Those who get animals should read before they get them. What do you do with the animals then? Do you keep them to yourself or do you resell them to a much better home? It would have been fun to find out.

I got my pair of bonded girls from Guinea pig finder. Very poor conditions and poor diet. Their poops were so pale they were almost white. Now they are spoiled rotten in a 2x5 c&c and healthy poops!

I have the glass flat edge by Kaytee, I love them. Learned that they work better put in the corner on the inside of the cage.

Don't trash the food, put it out for birds. Wild birds will love it. Looks like pine littler.

Not sure if you are still finding that your new piggies are not liking the veggies but I just wanted to share my experience. My piggies had no interest is really any veggie so I ended up chopping it very finely and sprinkling a little bit on top of their pellets. After a few days of that I noticed they were intentionally eating the veggies off of the pellets and started giving them bigger pieces. Once they were eating the lettuce, introducing the rest of the veggies was much easier and just required cutting it into small pieces and mixing it with lettuce. They now take any vegetable I give them first try. I also just wanted to say the new piggies are so cute and I’m so glad you were able to rescue them and provide them so much joy.

I worked at PetSmart and the guinea pigs would sometimes come in with a hole in their ear. Not sure why🤷‍♀️ possibly bc they got bit before they came in.

I think aside from people not doing enough research beforehand, the pet shops have a big responsibility with this problem. Most of the people getting these animals are getting them from chain pet shops where the animals are already in miniature display tanks. The staff will reccomend these tiny enclosures for sale and will suggest out of date care and sadly most people will trust it as if its coming from an expert. Also a lot of the cage brands have their own "care guides" online which obviously spout nonsense and promote their own cages and a lot of people seem to trust it as well.

I had mine in the store cages for their entire lives; which luckily they (separately) lived to be liek 5 years and I literally can’t imagine doing that my babies who are in the the recommended sizes now and feed them veggies/hay everyday

Those cages make me soooooo mad! Im on a rehoming group on Facebook and I see thse cages all the time. I try to tell people that they need bigger cages but they just get so defensive and say their cage is big enough.
