Hi guys.💛 You're either going to be so shocked or you will have seen this coming a mile away. Either way, I quit my teaching job and will be staying home with my daughter next year.
Let's chat about it.
Leave me any questions I didn't answer down below and I will try to answer them in a video soon!
Thank you for always being here + caring about my journey. You all have watched me become a teacher, become a mom, and figure out how to balance both. I hope you stay with me as I figure out this new season of being a stay at home mom/ work from home mom.
I really truly appreciate you so very much. 💛

I am a teacher too. I took a few years off after my kids were born and I am so glad I did. You will not regret this time with your baby! You can always go back to teaching when she is older.

But why would you? Why would you surrender your child to be raised by the government if you had a choice. I say do everything in your power to have that choice! No judgement, just an honest thought!

Emma, I saw this coming the summer after you had Jordan. I saw myself 34 years earlier going having the very same feelings. I was a nurse in the Air Force, in of all areas - the NICU. I had already lost two babies and was pregnant with my third baby, and my husband was an medical intern, also in the Air Force. God blessed us with a healthy baby boy after a complicated pregnancy and delivery, and I fully intended to stay in the military at least until my husband had finished his residency. But after one particularly busy day, when I was picking up our baby after a 15 hour work day, I realized how twisted it was that I was spending my days taking care of other mom's babies, when the baby I had waited for for so long was with a baby sitter. At that moment I knew that my career as a nurse was done, and I was going to be a full time mom. I was so fortunate to have a husband who was 100% supportive of that decision, and 35 years later I have had absolutely no regrets. I got to do things with my son that I would not have been able to had I continued to work, and I have memories that will be with me forever. As it turned out, he was the only child we were blessed with, and I am so grateful that God sent me the message of what my life was meant to be. I'm now the grandmother of two beautiful little girls, and blessed with a daughter in law whom I love with all my heart. So I can tell you with experience, you stick to your guns, ignore the snarky comments some people may make, and you enjoy your time with your daughter. It's going to be the most rewarding job you will ever have, as well as the hardest one.

Amen. More teachers should stop being used and taken advantage of and disrespected in the classroom and focus on their own families and their own value and worth.

I left teaching after 10 years to be more available to my family. I had no idea how much my family needed me to manage our home during this season. You never know the doors the Lord will open if we are obedient to where He is calling us. Good for you! 🙌

When you shifted from teaching content to a different style earlier this year I had a feeling that you would be leaving. I could see how much burnout you were experiencing. I am proud of you for choosing yourself, so often we’re made to feel bad as teachers for picking ourselves but I am so happy for you that your able to chose yourself. Congratulations on your new journey

I resigned from teaching after having my 1st. We were fortunate that financially I could stay home for all 3 of our children. I felt called back to teaching once my youngest was in full time kindergarten. It was during the pandemic and our school was desperate for subs. I started there, then renewed my license. I’m about to finish my 1st year back after 10 years of not teaching. I’m so glad I was able to stay home with my kids when they were little❤

I was a first grade teacher for 12 years. After my third child was born, I quit teaching. It was such a hard decision. I love teaching. She is now 16 and I just got hired as a first grade teacher after all that time off. I am so excited. I enjoyed my time off to be with my kids, but it is time for me to do what I love! Enjoy!

There is a god chance you will be on RU-vid talking about wanting to quit or having recently resigned in a couple years. Teaching (even 1st grade) is almost unmanageable now and very different from 20 years ago even.

Educator turned SAHM here too! You will forever cherish this time you get to spend with her! You’re right - she will only be this little for so long! What a treasure that you get to raise her! Also, how stinking awesome that God gave your hubby a promotion just a few days after your resignation. What an amazing God we serve! He is faithful!!!

Emma - I’m sooooo happy for you 🥺 I was a SAHM for over 10 years. Our situation was different and very challenging, but I’m thankful for all of those years that I got to be with my 2 kids full time. It’s what made sense to me, personally. I’m so glad that Michael got an amazing promotion, and that you’ll be able to have more flexibility and peace of mind. All this to say - you did the right thing. There will be days where you will question your decision because walking by faith is exactly that - by faith. There are no clear signs, but God’s Grace will walk you guys through. He is faithful. Praying for you guys!🙏🏽❤️

I, too, resigned from teaching after the birth of my third child. I was weary of my decision at that time, but, 23 years later, here I am homeschooling my children, adding more children to our family, and enjoying every moment of it. Enjoy this sweet time. And who knows-maybe you will be homeschooling your children, walking with them through the schooling years, and using your teaching degree to bless them.

I was so sad when I saw the title, but overcome with joy for you after watching. My journey was opposite. I was blessed to be a stay at home mom for 20 years when God called me to become a teacher. This is my first year. I did teach pre-K in my home for 4 years previous to this year. What a blessing it was to be home with my children. 3/6 are still living at home, but my youngest is 11. I know God leads our lives. He promised me my kids would be fine if I followed his will and became a full time teacher. I love how we need not fear if we follow the Lord. Your spirituality is what I love about your content.

I just want to tell you I’m soooo happy for you. Going into this school year I was struggling feeling like I wasn’t a good teacher because I didn’t want to have my identity in teaching and I wanted to set boundaries. I have be a subscriber since the beginning and then I saw your video where you set boundaries with your videos making them life style and not teaching, then not showing your daughter, then keep your birth story to yourself, and sharing you faith. You became an inspiration and I’ve loved watching your videos. I am soo happy for you and am excited to see this new chapter in your life.

I am so excited for you, Emma. You will never regret that time you devote to being fully present in your daughter’s life. It is true that staying home might not be for everyone but I am happy you feel like God is calling you to walk away from teaching at this season of your life. I just went back to my teaching job this past school year after being home and I am so grateful when I look back. I know I was there…I was present for all the moments. I think it’s great that you are thinking about still trying to carve out that bit of balance for yourself by subbing. Every decision one makes has it pluses and minuses but getting to truly be there for your little ones…so worth it!

This video came out at the right time, and I feel like this is my sign. I kept telling my husband that something was telling me to leave my job. It's been stressing me out so much. I've been having to work 13.5 hours sometimes. Last week, while my kids were on spring break, it hit me that out of the 12 days they were off, I spent 2 days with them. 😢😢 and now that they're both in school, I feel like a bad mom because I'm always working, and if I'm not, I'm getting calls from work. You made me really want to bring up this conversation back up to my husband. And good luck with everything.

Something feels right about it and honestly, I’m willing to go for the burnout and hardships of teaching if it means I can make an impact in a kids life. I’d definitely take a year off when my kid turns 3 and then go back tho. Those precious memories are too important to miss out on even if you’re trying to make money. There’s other ways. Good for you. To recognize this when you are young and make this type of decision is huge. I was able to stay at home when my kids were young before I went back to teaching. I quit a few years ago. I saw it coming-like a train and I couldn't get out of the way. Like you, I felt like I was spending more time on discipline than actual teaching. Plus, pressures from admin and parents? Recipe for disaster. I told myself in college that if the day ever came that I didn't enjoy teaching, I was done. And that day finally came. No regrets. Now I have a job that involves working with children and planning events; I love it!

She was super supportive and I absolutely felt called to leave, but I’ve been in the same place for 6 years. I loved it, but I’ve been looking forward to going back to school and after having my son, I knew I couldn’t juggle teaching, my own schooling and be the mom I want to be. Year 3 teacher who is quitting as of next year👋🏼 I’ve followed you since the beginning and was honestly sad when the teacher content went away, but lately I’ve been hoping to see more people my age leaving teaching to be at home with their families🩷 God has a purpose and plan in all seasons and I’m so happy for you!

This video is so inspiring. I’m a young Christian myself, I’m 20 and almost done with my second year of college and I’ll have 3 more until I’m able to start teaching. I’m also getting married this year and it has always been in the back of my mind if I will get pregnant during my first years teaching or even during college. It’s something I have thought about but it hasn’t really worried me - my desire to be a teacher is so strong and it is my dream job so I truly hope that it all works out, but I am so glad that you are doing what you are called to do and I know that will be so good for you and your family 🤍

Hi Katie, not sure what state you’re in. There is a lack in teachers. You might be able to teach as you’re finishing college. I’m currently a kindergarten teacher. I feel bad but I might be resigning because I want to be a full time mom. I’ll see what Jesus plans are for me

Thanks for your service as a teacher. Teaching is one of, if not the, most unappreciated position at there is.

As an administrator, who was an elementary teacher for 14 years before going into administration, I totally understand your decision. I was pregnant with my first child my first year teaching, and had those same feelings at the beginning. I had a lot of family support that helped me at the beginning of my career that I think helped me. Thank you for sharing your genuine feelings and for not bashing teaching. You are very fortunate to be able to stay home with your daughter. I wish you the best of luck!!! ❤

I am so happy for you!! You will not regret it 😊 I worked when my kiddos were babies too. When my son turned 4 we felt God leading us to have me stay home for the last year he was home. We took the leap and followed his calling. It was not an easy year money wise but we made it through. When he started kindergarten and I started looking for a new job. The perfect job lined up. I received a big raise and my new job has so much better work life balance. I am so glad we listened to God’s calling because we are in such a better place and I do not know if we would have gotten here if we did not take that leap.

Following your story I could feel your heart going in this direction. I left my corporate job when my daughter (also named Emma Grace ❤) was just 2 yo. I went on to have 2 more children and being home with them was the most special time in my life and theirs. They’re all in middle and HS now (that first baby is graduating this year and leaving for college). 3 years ago I started a new career teaching and it’s the perfect job for a mom of older kiddos. All that to say teaching will always be there if and when you need. Enjoy your baby girl! I promise…the years will pass too quickly for your mama heart ❤.

I am so happy for you! Where God guides, he provides! Totally gave me chillls when you spoke about how God aligned everything perfectly so you could do what you're meant to do. I too am in the education field and this year has definitely been a struggle. Keep doing what you're doing! Looking forward to all of the great content to come ❤
