The corn lady wasn’t greedy as she was not asking you for extra $1, I believe she just wanted a $1 bill as a souvenir or maybe something to show to her kids.. language barrier can be annoying. Anyway, enjoy your trip in Nepal

You might be right about her wanting just a souvenir for her kids. But from my travel experiences in different countries, I had poeple asking me for the same thing many times. Which makes me wonder if they do it all the time with any foreigners they meet. So, mine as well, this lady probably has seen many tourists before him and when she saw Davud's generosity she started to ask for 1 dollar bill, so maybe he will also give her 100 dollars like he did with the 1000 rupees instead of 40.

You could be right as well, but if she was really greedy or a scammer, she could have casually asked for more than 40 rupees(around 35 US cents) for the corn, but she didn’t. And I am pretty sure she really appreciated him for giving her a 1000 rupees($8-$9) as you could tell from her smile. Cheers.

1$ is probably 130 Nepalese rupees. You gave her 1000 already so I believe she was just trying to ask for a dollar as a different currency. I myself usually ask or exchange currencies with new people I meet and collect them.

Hey Davud, Lots of love from India. The corn lady wasn't greedy asking for money. As she might have not got a chance to travel outside of the country, she wanted to keep that as part of remembrance. She wanted to show others what a good customer she had met and also to show others how the dollar looks like.

Hey davud glad to see u back in nepal. The corn lady didnt said she wanted a dollar but what she said was when u offered her a 1000 rupees she was happy and she said its only a dollar for u which u gave her which is not. I am sure that you can find so many good people there in Nepal. Also, I encourage you to try different flavors of MOMO, including veg and chicken, and try different places too - it looks like you like Buffalo Momo, so do not forget to try EVEREST Momo, the old Momo chain in Kathmandu. And please, I want to let you know that the water quality in KTM is not good (this is our unfortunate situation), try to get bottled water every time, except that you will be totally fine.
