I'll just randomly think about the Toys R US scene where she's just yelling at him from across the store. Wait until you get to the Crayola Factory episode
fun fact: kate (being a nurse and having connections) started fertility treatment after only a few months of trying instead of the usual over a year. the reason for this is very important bc if you give someone fertility treatments when they don’t really need them you end up with multiples. kate is very lucky all of them lived, very rarely does someone get pregnant with that many children and have them all be born healthy. could have been very dangerous for the both of them.
Fun fact: fertility treatments are well known to come with increased instances of multiple births for ANYONE who conceives that way. Another "fun fact:" it has been said that Kate was diagnosed with PCOS - a condition that very commonly affects a woman's ability to ovulate regularly and causes difficulty conceiving. Specialists do consider such things when recommending treatments. Her condition probably had more to do with it than her "connections." I fricken hate Kate Gosselin, but I also can't stand when people spread misinformation about medical interventions or speak on other people's health as if they know everything about them.
Also I haven't watched this show since I was a kid but I do remember her saying in the show that they were pregnant with seven and lost one during the pregnancy, how grateful she was the other ones made it. Im not a fan of her but yeah no need to spread misinformation
When I watched this as a kid I didn't register how young Jon and Kate were. They were getting fertility treatments to have the twins at 24 years old? And having 8 children before 30? Wild.
I was in high school and I remember some kids discussing it one day at lunch. I remember a guy saying how he thought Kate was such a bitch, but some girl chimed in and said, "well, you'd have to be if you have eight kids!"
I remember watching Jon and Kate Plus Eight as a kid. I also remember not liking Kate because she seemed mean and stressful to be around. Years later I learned wasn't wrong about her.
They had to work overtime to make John seem like the bad guy. They hated eachother so badly!! Im genuinely confused why they even got pregnant a second time
I didn't have that. I only had to have a nebulizer treatment only maybe 3 times in my life. I didn't have asthma or anything and I was born 4-5 weeks earlier than the sextuplets. I also had a VP shunt placed when I was born and then replaced when I was 3 due to hydrocephalus.
@@Supersoccerchicwell you were a single baby in a womb and had space to grow your lungs, even if you were early. Comparing that to having to share not only space but nutrients with 5 other babies, and well, it's not surprising at least one or more had asthma problems. It's not uncommon foe multiples, even if it's just twins, to at least have one baby be not as developed or smaller than their sibling. You can't really compare your single baby self with 6 baby in one womb. Lol
The ToysRus fight would've went way more smoothly if Kate let Jon explain what he was doing (I think he was distracting them so they wouldn't ask "Is this toy for me" etc.)
Yeah and no children should "obey" their parents. They should listen but NEVER obey. Children are not put on this earth to obey their parents like dogs.
@@arrowverselover100 Yeah and if I ever adopt or have kids, they will not be taught to "obey". They will be taught to listen, express their feelings and be allowed to tell me why they're upset instead of just shutting down.
@@Supersoccerchic Idk if you watched the "Shiny Happy People" documentary, but it's about the Duggars and something that is said is that Michelle would say to the kids when they act up "Do you want encourgement" which was hitting them. That word should never be associated with that and no parent should be hitting their kids. We now know why the kids were so well-behaved. They were terrified of getting "encourgement."
Kate seems OCD or something. Like to the point she should have gotten help, like therapy. it's okay to have mental health problems it's not okay to allow that to effect other people. Glad John got away and hope Colin is okay! She legit shoved him into a mental hospital.
That's not OCD, it's narcissism. I know people throw those terms around casually these days, but her behavior legitimately appears to be controlling and manipulative, among demonstrating other narcissistic traits. Being a perfectionist about cleanliness and organization isn't the same as having OCD. Honestly, narcissism is also a hell of a lot more damaging to those around you than OCD.
@@cassie1264thank you, i have OCD that goes through severe stag3s, especially postpartum, and it’s got nothing to do with cleaning or controlling my spouse and kids lol
She's not OCD she just can't stand when things aren't about her and only her. So she acts like a See You Next Tuesday because she thrives on any kind of attention, including negetive.
@@cassie1264no? i have ocd and also a personality disorder and its literally gross to act like one is worse, esp when youre talking how bad it is to not be the one with the disorder. narcissistics are not bad people. us with personality disorders will never be free from this bs. at this point im more scared of being around neurotypical ppl bc they just hate us for existing
@@littleprettyfairy they never said they were bad people, however they were pointing out the negative symptoms that go along with narcissistic personality disorder that Kate in fact does display. No one said anything about you personally.
American Girl doll enthusiast here. The program that the family saw at the American Girl Place was not a movie, but rather a live musical. It was called the Circle of Friends and it is a sequel to the first American Girl Musical, The American Girls Revue. You all probably don't give a shit about this info dump, but I like to take any chance I get to talk about American Girl. Nevertheless, the more I look back at this show, the more I resent Kate and her overall aura. Her passive aggressiveness, her maltreatment of Collin, her ugly hairstyle that every evangelical soccer mom had in the late 00's, she's just such an unpleasant person. I really worry for her kids now.
It’s the way I remember every scene vividly. This show was on when I was a teen and I was obsessed. I’ll be honest, I was on Kate’s side for some time bc I think their home life (in some indirect ways) reflected my own and I thought it was normal. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized how problematic her behavior was. Esp once they announced their divorce, my opinion on her had changed completely. Now I watch back on the show and I feel bad for John. Not that he is 100% innocent but they really painted him to be the bad guy
as someone who grew up without cable, this is one of many shows that absolutely fascinated me! this is such an entertaining way to satisfy my curiosity!! can’t wait to watch the rest of the series and all the rest of the videos on your channel!!
While I do think Kate is nuts, the cleaning lady not touching areas that were specified is a big deal, since her services are being paid for. I would never pay someone for a job that isn’t done correctly or isn’t done at all.
The cleaning lady thing bothered me. It would be close to impossible to work with that many people in the house. Also we don’t know how many hours were paid for. You can’t clean every surface of an entire house throughly without a full days work.
As a kid I was always amazed at Kate’s organization skills. Just wait for the crayola factory episode and the road trip to Disney episodes or even the 4th of July at the beach episodes.
At least they didn't name their multiples all confusing alliteration kind of names, like sticking with one first letter or something... Also, didn't a lot of TLC's shows start on Discovery? Like, I'm pretty sure the Duggars were originally a documentary show about having 16 kids or something???
Kate gets a lot of flack, and I understand why, but I think I’d be a little unhinged if I had 8 children. I have two under 3 and can get snappy sometimes. I try SO hard not to be, but we all have our moments. Honestly the only thing I judged in this episode is Jon telling Cara to pee her pants.
I don’t think it’s wrong for a couple to decide to try for more kids if they want more than 2. I’m assuming she didn’t expect to end up with sextuplets. You’re right that she chose to have more kids, but that take seems so invalidating to how it feels to be a parent in general. Yes, I chose my kids, yes I love them, and no, I’m not always mom of the year, but I always try.
Her kids have actively said they don't have a relationship with her and she even sent one of them to military school for no good reason. I think that's more so what people are judging her on.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the rest of the Jon & Kate seasons and Kate plus 8 seasons. Also, what do you think about 19 and counting or Jersey Shore
Here's a sad fact. Jon Gosselin said in an interview on the Dr. Oz Show, the christmas episode for season 1 was not actually filmed in the month of December, it was filmed during the summer time. He said that he could not remember exactly why the producers chose to to do this, but he felt really bad that when actual Christmas did come - they couldn't celebrate it.
Yeah because they spent too much money in the summer. That's terrible but that's always what happens in reality shows, unless you specifically tell them when to film. It's like with Table for 12, they only filmed on school holidays and summer, that's it.
I heard the christmas episode wasnt filmed on Christmas so Kate told the kids it was christmas to get their reactions. I think the picture/video of the tree was taken by Kate or Jon. I know they were young but I'm sure they knew what christmas was so if its true its beyond messed up
Yeah and you even see on the calendar in the episode, it's actually six days before Christmas. It's the 19th or 20th so, six or 5 days before Christmas.
Read KATE GOSSELIN: How She Fooled The World: The Rise And Fall Of A Reality TV Queen. It's mostly conspiracy theories by an ex-paparazzi and friend of Jon's, but the coincidences are insane.
Listen, as someone who gets extremely uncomfortable when being watched and who, quite honestly, borderline forgets how to function while being watched...I totally understand John referencing them being filmed while dealing with a stressful situation. 😂
Once when I was babysitting my nephews, I put them down for their 2 hr nap. But because I had been watching them since 5 in the morning I fell asleep too and we all slept for 6 hours. Haha.
@@danixxgreen You truly have no idea what the word "thriving" means, do you? The person meant that at least all the kids are alive and don't have a severe disability like cerebral palsy or something of that nature.
@@SupersoccerchicI think the lack of thriving came later in life from growing up on camera AND having your parents messy relationship being public info. Also they were definitely abused as many of the kids have come forward with.
Agree. It makes me sad to see old episodes where the little ones just wanted to play in mud (like kids do) and she freaked out because they were getting dirty! And 2 year olds are always sticky or dirty! 😂
I hated that with that episode of cleaning and organizing the garage, Kate and Jon agreed that if the kids that came down after their nap, which was two to three hours long, they decided to put them back in their cribs for 45 minutes. That's an insane punishment.
I’m glad they were such a toxic couple and they chose to pump out so many kids that’s so great, i literally cannot stand kate. she is responsible for just about everything her poor kids went thru.
I would watch this show all the time. However, by season 4, it was almost unwatchable for me. I was in my early 20s by the time the show aired, and the more the show went, the more I got annoyed with Kate. I kept wondering how Jon was staying with her.
@@danixxgreen I used to be able to tell the differece between them when I watched, but now, I forget how to tell the difference other than Aaden having glasses.
I was a preschool teacher & had 8-12 two year olds along with another teacher to help. It is hard work! It’s much easier with very strict routines & engaging activities to occupy their time and lots of running and toddling around outside to make them tired lol! We had a routine where they nap 2 hours a day at the same time everyday. It was hard work, but eventually they all followed the routine everyday and they actually loved having things organized like that. Little kids love routines! Me and my co-teacher were besties so it made things fun. I can’t imagine hating each other and being filmed 😣 also we got to clock out at the end of 8 hour shift. I would go insane if I had to do that 24/7 😭😭😭
I used to watch this show because our family had 9 kids (9 pregnancies) and my mom was a lot like kate (neat freak/controlling) and my dad is asian... (we didn't have a happy childhood tho) but knowing what i know now about the show (kate only wanted babies with someone "not Caucasian" because she wanted them to not look like her, she purposely got pregnant with multiples and shopped for reality TV show, she a**sed colin, etc) It just makes me sad to see it. 1st season the sextuplets were sooooo adorable!!!
I’d guess the discomfort you feel around the word ‘obey’ may not just be with its association to religious parents using it, but more for the inherently controlling nature of it. It’s a key feature of authoritarian parenting (and, while there’s not necessarily any ‘right’ way to parent, especially with the vastly different contexts families find themselves in, a lot of more progressive people in Western cultures would prefer the ‘authoritative’ style of parenting, where you’re assertive with your kids but also warm and spend time talking to kids about rules, the reasons for them, etc.)
The episode where the twins had their headshots done, I liked the episode, but I didn't really like the fact that Alexis had to stay home with the boys. They could've made it into a girls outing, but I guess Nana Janet said that they couldn't take alexis
Sorry “obey” is a weird word for you, but it simply means to follow. Following a command or guidance. We are supposed to obey our parents. However, she is abusive many times so that is different.
Kate is seriously a control freak and needs to take a break from humanity to learn how to talk to people. She is so condescending and sarcastic to John constantly. I do believe her personality is the same.
that's not fair for the grouchy and being filmed though. he could just mean that he's self conscious about it or he feels like it reflects badly on him.
Kate and John must have been pretty wealthy to afford a housekeeper and go through IVF for both sets of their multiples. Seeing Kate's giant pregnant belly with the sextuplets, it's pretty terrifying! Maybe that's an overreaction! I really don't like Kate and John's bickering, I really can't stand John! He's made out to be the better and good parent now, but looking back, he's just as insufferable as Kate.
Amanda, those pinecones are a part of the park’s ecosystem and the animals that live there need them for food. It is against park rules to take pinecones out of the park. “Leave No Trace” includes leaving behind what you find
@@amandap8214 It’s laughable to not understand private property vs. a national park that over 1.5 million people visit per year. If every family with small children brought home pinecones, that could lead to a major issue.
