I have a Harley and a ktm gt. I don’t agree at all with you. I travel 460 mile in one day to visit family on a regular basis as I live in Aberdeenshire and my family live in Nottinghamshire. It’s the best bike I’ve ever had.

I have an SDR which is sporty and the GT which is like a touring bike when you come off the SDR, they are great bikes and so glad i went for them, even if they are big i am only 5,5 and manage fine with a mod or two, if you are thinking of one i say go for it you wont be disappointed

Nay, it is fine. I am 68 and I still ride a 2018 Kawasaki Zed 900 Naked and my new 2023 soft tail standard. stay in the wind it is the fountain of youth. that is a beast of a ride.👍

I have an SDR and you need to ride it to understand, its fantastic, i never was taken by the front end looks but when you ride it you forget all about that

Im about to do the same thing. I have a 2018 heritage classic with a 128. Im waiting for the new Adventure Sports Africa Twin. I’m 5’6” and the AT was out of my reach (pun intended) before but now with the 2024 model year its able to be configured to a seat height of 795mm. Which is completely doable for me.

Easy fix.... Change the rear sprocket to 42 as on the super adventure (stock rear for gt is 38) plus you have 15 more hp

Yes, it is too sporty. For you. No, it is not the identical motor to the Super Adventure. It is almost the same, but the SA is tuned differently. The SA has less peak horsepower (by about 12), and more torque in the lower RPMs. I recently traded my 1290 Super Adventure for a SD GT. The GT is clearly quicker. But, not if you ride it like you would ride a SA. You were consistently running the GT at too low RPMs. The RPMs you were using were well-suited for riding a SA. The GT wants to be at 1000-1500 RPMs higher than the SA for the same type of riding. The GT wants to be kept above 4000 RPMs at a minimum for normal riding with good roll-on performance. If you had done that, instead of often lugging it at 2500 to 3000, you'd have experienced a machine far quicker than a SA. I only let my GT drop to 3500 for steady speed cruising on relatively flat ground. The stock seat is a bit thin for long rides, unless you are a very light person. The stock SA seat on my previous bike was even worse. Fortunately, KTM offer an accessory seat (for both bikes) that is actually all-day comfortable. And by "all day comfortable", I mean a seat that I can ride at least 900 miles in one day and not feel especially sore in the bum region. I am 57 years old. 6'1" tall. I find the GT ergonomics (with the thicker KTM accessory seat, which adds 13mm of seat height) to be very comfortable. Riding all day (450 - 900 miles, depending on where and what type of riding) is no problem. Maybe you should try a yoga class? I don't do them. I curl 16 ounce weights at the pub. But, I don't get sore after a few hours on the GT, either. The KTM SD GT is a SPORT-tourer. If you want a sport-TOURER, the GT is not the bike for you. If you want an Adventure Bike, the GT is not the bike for you. If you want a bike that will carry you comfortably for a long, boring, all-day ride just to get to the twisties, and then shed the luggage and ride just the same as you would on a "proper sportsbike", and then put the luggage back on to make the long, boring ride back home, then the GT is THE bike for you.

No thanks... give me a cruiser with floorboards. I am not a fan of the transformer look. I don't like mid controls at my age. Knees in the breeze for me. Those bikes are for city riding only. If you put down some miles, this bike will not cut it.

Try the new Multistrada Pikes Peak! Pricey, but after you ride one, nothing else will do.

Try a BMW R1250R comfortable and sporty, stick panniers on and tour. Great all rounder

I wasn't impressed. On spec Duke GT has it all. Riding it is different. Engine feels a bit lumpy and there is no real "pull" in the acceleration , compared to MT10, Aprilia Tuono, Hayabusa. Those bikes rips your arms off at 9000rpm. Road contact is very planted. Its like riding with your ass on a skateboard. Super planted but all vibrations and harshness that comes with it. My demo bike has setup "street". Nice bike to ride for 30min. Not riding 5000km through Europe.

Nice bike but not for me at 61😢

You are not too old for it ,but they just don,t work breakdown lots bit like my PAS.
