I Saw Walt’s HoloGhost At Disney 100 Exhibition - DIStory Dan 

As uncanny valley as that deepfake projection of Walt is, you know it’s exactly the kind of slightly creepy character technology he would be using if he had access to it. I mean the guy was building life size extremely realistic robot replicas of a bunch of dead presidents lol. And i’m not criticizing it btw I love the cheese just like Dan says ! haha

Holo-Disney looks like a mixture between the real Walt and the Tom Hanks one in Saving Mr. Banks.

Seeing the Snow White Book gave me such a rush of nostalgia. That was my favorite movie growing up! I really hope this exhibit comes to my city.

You're spewin' out gold before you even get to the Disney stuff! As for said Disney stuff, I AM SO JEALOUS! I so hope it tours around my neck of the woods, cuz I wanna see it! This is One Man's Dream on pixie-dust steroids! And whoever was singing to Circle of Life in the background: good for you! Your enthusiasm just made my day!

It’ll be interesting to see what different props are in the European version of the exhibition

Also: we were there on a Saturday and the queue was true Disney fashion. I think we waited longer to get in than we did for anything at the parks in January, lol.

I’ve been living in Japan for a while- but I’m originally from Philly! I had no idea TFI had a Disney 100 exhibit until I saw this video!!! I’ll be back in august so I definitely need to check it out before it moves.

It was so great to see Dan so starstruck by the exhibits. I would have been too ... wow! It was like when I got to tour the Freedom Train in 1976 and I was also starstruck when I saw the Degas exhibit when it was at my local art museum. The chance to see such things with your own eyes is staggering. I'm hoping to tour the Disney Family Museum in San Francisco sometime. I just went on Thursday me and my boyfriend LOVED it! Of course the Walt hologram had me crying and seeing his revisions for the Disneyland plaque really had me emotional lol

You are so right. EVERY park should have a mini museum/exhibit.

Wish the "holographic" Walt Disney used a Pepper's Ghost effect. Maybe that way, it would look less like a projection & more like a hologram. It also looks like they're using AI voice deep-learning to make his voice sound like Walt, not just the deep-fake technology. That's what's adding to the Uncanny Valley effect it's giving off.

I'd need to see it in person to figure out exactly how they made the "hologram" work outside of the AI and audio archives every article I've found talks about (seriously, I want to know how the image is projected since there are multiple ways to do that, not the same audio and image generation everyone seems to be reporting) but based on the fact it's in a dimly lit area against a backdrop, my best guess for how the projection works is that they're using a similar technique you'd get at Vocaloid concerts where the image is projected onto a transparent curved screen. The curved screen is what allows it to be given a slight 3D effect that lets you see the image clearly from multiple angles in front of it which has (unfortunately) given it the title of being a hologram. Again, I don't know if that's actually what's going on here. No articles I've found have mentioned the projection tech and there's only so much I can see from footage of it as opposed to actually being in the room and knowing the whole layout. But I hope this does help. The tech isn't new, like mentioned the same or similar tech has been used before in the likes of Vocaloid concerts and I remember reading about a show that used it with Michael Jackson's image/audio a while back.

I went to go see this last Thursday… I almost cried seeing Walt. While rough around the edges … I was amazed. This whole thing was EVERYTHING. Me and my buddy SMC… we were just struck with awe

I would love to see this same exhibit come to Texas though, honestly. I love the Disney theme parks but at this point, I've been to the parks often enough that this would be more exciting to me. XD

Just saw the london version of the exhibition and it's very similar however there are changes. I believe the Walt hologram looked better in the philedipha (?) version due to it being more of a stage rather then a mounted screen which ruined the illusion a bit. A lot of the materials are the same, but some were different. The European version had the German storybook for snow white and had snow whites costume instead of pinaocho. The American version is also slightly bigger and a few more matierals. We also had the ride car from Mr Toad's wild ride and the Peter pan's flight ride car. I enjoyed the exhibition but I did wish it felt like a historical exhibition rather than the Disney plus advert it felt like at times. The nature bit was literally a corridor though with some screens and paintings. But pretty good, not sure if worth the full peak time price of £33

Also they should also add a wing where they can honour the dead the Disney princesses the ones that done the voice is like snow White Cinderella and aurora that literally gave their lives to Disney, I think they should have something like artificial intelligence mannequin that tell the story of each individual character like what they do in museums when you press a button, that tells your story on history of that person in their case you just ask a question. and they answer it if I can find they can find the actual recordings of the people who done the voice acting at the time they could use that as a part of their programming so you could hear the actual voice actors voice and have their own story told in their own words from the actual voice actresses theirselves icemanx23

When this exhibition comes to Chicago, hopefully I can go and make a daytrip out of it. What a shame the gift shop doesn't sell those old style creepy Mickey and Minnie dolls, though! There was a Disney exhibit several years ago at my state's annual fair where they actually had some for sale. I did not get one, though I begged.
