I also agree! So much happiness when listening and singing along. I am 73 and if I hear a Beatles song that I haven’t heard for awhile I still can sing along! Smiling all the way!
Greetings from Germany . In Hamburg there are also regular memorial concerts for John Lennon or the Beatles. The Beatles are loved everywhere like Mozart or Beethoven. Well done you New Yorkers 😍
This was FABulous!!!!! Everybody coming together honoring John Lennon. He's probably looking down and smiling at all of these fine people. Brought tears to my eyes because it was so touching and they all sang beautifully. A song that came from the BEST band on the planet...The Beatles, which I saw TWICE in person when I was a kid at two of their concerts in Chicago!!! John we love you, we miss you😢Rock them in heaven🤘🎸 Peace and Love☮❤🌼
if there´s one song (among others) that symbolizes what The Beatles were is this song. No matter how down or sad or deppresed I am there's no way that I listen to this song and not change my mood to absolute joy and happiness. Thank you Beatles and thank you all of you at Strawberry Fields in NYC for making me happy today...one more time !!
@Obnebur IV.4 - soulrubber I hope you're doing ok... Tears started flowing when the song began...I was crying for the human dichotomy of being as one in musical harmony, and blowing each other to bits in anger and hate... I cling to the music, love and harmony ☮🕊
Yep. This song and many others would have been a hit for many other bands. All My Loving? Forget about it, it would have been a hit for many groups too.
Well done, I grew up with the Beatles, and this song is so magical. When I hear it I feel a combination of melancholy in the pit of my stomach, and joy that a song as brilliant as this even exists.
One of my favourites. This puts me in that space, when the Beatles were at their absolute peak, in 1964. The world had gone mad for them and still really didn’t know what it had! Songs like this one just blew people away. That they were writing this stuff themselves and of such a quality, was not easy to take in. Again, the sheer joy of Beatlemania runs throughout this tune. So lovely to see people celebrating John and The Beatles, so many years later. You were wrong Grandad! They lasted longer than 6 months!
@@japsley6172 I wish I could say yes it is ! .. but I can't .. I am not John White of Wrexham ... All the best to you - if I may say again, that was a great comment, it really struck a chord with me.
I remember when the Beatles were going to appear on the Ed Sullivan Show for the first time in 1964 my Grandmother kept calling us up and kept reminding us DONT FORGET TO SEE THE BEATLES. GREATEST GROUP OF ALL TIME HANDS DOWN. THEIR MUSIC IS TIMELESS. I'M SURE THEY WILL STILL BE PLAYING THE BEATLES 100 YEARS FROM NOW.
@@thebeatlesnyc Yes the music we had back then was AWESOME. The Beatles, the Stones,Led Zeppelin,The Who,Jimi Hendrix, Ten Years After, Steppenwolf, the Doors, the Chambers Brothers. I can go on and on. Be well my friend and keep listening to the GREAT MUSIC FROM THE 60's.
This is amazing and almost made me cry to see all those people who still love John and the Beatles after all these years! I hope my children's children's children will still be singing these songs and love them just like I do! I'm proud of you guys in NYC for doing this!
I AM crying right now. My parents grew up with this music, I'm loving it and my 10 year old son is a huge fan on The Beatles. Life is temporary, love is forever.
This is how the world should always be. just imagine if people could always be like this. Peace and Love, nothing to kill or die for. 42 years after John's death and he is still bringing people together in a loving way. I miss the man.
I am from Britain and i just love these beautiful tributes to the fabulous Beatles...i recignise very familiar faces who turn up year in year out and long may they continue x
Sitting at home after a long shift at 12.40 am ,with a few Beers in ENGLAND and this Restores my faith in Humanity. Thank you the REAL PEOPLE OF AMERICA 🇺🇸.. FREEEEEDOM ⭐️🌞⭐️🌞❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏻😎.. And God bless you and THE BEATLES..❤️⭐️🌞👍🏻😎❤️❤️
This is such a joyful moment captured for posterity. I even like the videographer's off key singing. It just illustrates that community spirit. The music of the Beatles is for everyone. Even those who can't find the right notes. "The angels value enthusiasm over perfection," to paraphrase Charles Ives.
There should be an annual day celebrating the Beatles like this because popular music exploded world wide once these 4 guys from Merseyside became the most influential musicians ever. Without them, teenage years would still be grey and flat and we would still wearing suits like our fathers. Gathering together and having a good old sing song of the Beatles classics no matter what your musical level is, looks fantastic.
@@Macca1000001 l agree, but the Beatles brought music through for the next generation and so forth where as Elvis etc. were already established for the older youths.
@@Macca1000001 Perhaps, but how many are still rocking out like this to any of the above mentioned? Almost 60 years later their music is still relevant.
What can I say...Fantastic! The players and the crowd just nailed it, perfection. What a great atmosphere and a beautiful tribute to a very talented John Lennon. Wish I’d been there with you ❤🇬🇧
This was awesome, the thing that struck me more than anything is the majority of people in this video weren’t born when John Lennon was alive, it shows the influence the Beatles have over the music of today and the appreciation young people have of John and the Beatles ❤
The magic of music is like that. People today still "sweat" Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven. The music of The Beatles will easily last as long, even if the bulk of rock music fades into the "unremembered" category. John & Paul, and to a lesser extent, George, found a way to write a great volume of songs, each of high quality. I'd suppose that a great many bands would love to have written songs as good as The Beatles worst dozen examples.
@@jimcharles9705 100% the other thing that struck me was this song was an album track from 1965 and young people knew all the words which is amazing, I can’t imagine in 57 years time 25 year olds knowing the words of a modern album track
@@richardsiebert7858 the real Strawberry Field was an orphanage John used to visit as a child. His aunt didn’t like him going there and he’d always reply, “why Mimi, they can’t hang you for it”. (It’s in the lyrics). The garden was a refuge for him. There is a Salvation Army centre there now with a small exhibition about John.
@@stephenbrown4211 Many thanks for your message Stephen. SFF is my favourite ever piece of music, next to 'Imagine', and I've stood outside the gates on more than one occasion. There is now a cafe there which you have to pre-book? He took care of his Aunt Mimi by buying her a large house in Sandbanks, Dorset. Best wishes.
Defines an era……represents a place in time that takes one back in an instant like no other music can ……A time when life was simpler and far more innocent than today. It was a time when the future that lay ahead clearly brimmed with promise for the Beatles and for us all ! They changed everything in the music world ! ♥️ ! Wonderful ! Wish I were there to see this in person !
My mom was so cool she took me and sister’s to see the Beatles in1964 at the Hollywood bowl and 1968 at dodger stadium I will never forget thank you mom see you in heaven ❤️🙏much love for Beatle fan’s never met a bad one❤️all you need is love❤️
Think how awesome this is that your life and music meant so much to so many people that even after 40 plus years after your death people gather to sing and laugh together to celebrate your life and everything that you left behind. What a great gift of your life to others you never met. Priceless
It's amazing how it pleases me to see young people, who wouldn't even be born until long after John's passing, enjoying this great music, and seeing how much it means to people like myself, who were around during its heyday.
Cool. My favorite Beatles song ever since I saw A Hard Day's Night when in came out. I was six years old and almost 60 years later, this brings back memories.
My son bought himself a guitar over the Holidays. His goal is to learn as many Beatles songs he can play so we can go to be part of the love in NYC. We will see you in October 2024!!
Impressive to hear these talented young people doing this Beatles rendition that got me through some tough times in the Army. Awesome music & voices & directing!!!❤
So Sorry to all of you. I wish I would've stayed quiet because my singing is awful haha but I got too excited and couldn't help it. One of my favorite songs for sure!!
Don't worry about it! Take it from one of the musicians who was actually there that day: none of us brought our A-game 100% of the time (I for one made plenty of flubs during this song alone). That was never the main objective; it was to honor the birth of a man who created a body of music that inspired us all in some way, and to simultaneously have as much collective fun together as possible doing so. If you had fun, then mission accomplished. I know I did, and I was far from the only one. Furthermore, I think your singing adds an air of authenticity to the recording: 10/9 and 12/8 at Strawberry Fields aren't some sort of beauty contest, nor are they intended for concerts where a handful of people play and everyone else listens. They are two out of a small handful of days in the year when anyone and everyone is encouraged to sing along with the more dedicated musicians, regardless of skill or talent. I think John (who himself was always insecure to some degree about his own musicianship and singing abilities) would've appreciated that very much. You did a great job capturing and contributing to the moment, and we all hope to see you again on 12/8. I've seen a lot of clips from that day, and yours are among the best for my money. God bless you.
@@charliefreeman947 You're so right! It's not about perfection. It's about honoring a legend and having fun along the way. His(and The Beatles) music unites all of us! A big and diverse family that I love being part of it. You and all of the musicians were Amazing like always!! THANKS to every one of you for being there playing and singing with all your heart for hours!! And for sure I will be back on 12/08. 10/09 and 12/08 are probably my favorite days of the year! Thank you Charlie for your words and God Bless you too! Peace and Love!
