I Sold My AP Jumbo 15202st!!! Why? 

You doubled your money and gave your friend the opportunity to own his grail watch. Winners all round. A very generous thing to do on your behalf, but friendship over greed is always a winner.

The AP's tapisserie dials are so elegant and classy. The skeleton though is another level I am sure to look at. What an incredible open movement and workmanship. Refreshing to hear the outgoing movements of the collection. It's easy to imagine your friend is very happy and it brings joy to our hearts to hear that. To make the comparison with cars, AP is like McLaren whereas Rolex is more like Mercedes. McLaren make great sports cars and when you have the ultimate model, the others can't bring the same special feeling. Mercedes on the other hand has sports cars as well as more practical models. That makes the different models good or special in their own respective way. You'll drive/wear whatever model from that brand is best suited for the occasion.

Good move on your part you've not only doubled you money but made a close friend very happy and as you say you've got the skeleton which is all the AP you need well done and congratulations to your friend 👏

Wonderful story both the journey and the outcome. So many lessons to be gained here. My eyes were wide open when I saw the title of this video in my notifications.....but! I am of the same opinion as yourself, the skeleton is more than sufficient (so nice to see it again here!). For me, it would be an easy choice between the two. I think if I had them both, only the skeleton would get worn which would be a shame. I also admire what you did for you friend. Doubling your money after enjoying the watch is a solid result but then making a friends dream come true is worth so much more than the extra pennies you could of got. And yes, watches should be worn and enjoyed. Such a shame that so many people don't want to wear them out of fear of scratching, losing or whatever. Definitely post the outgoings to the collection too, great idea!

A wise move, if a watch doesn't "Sing" to you you any more its time to move it on and buy one that excites you again.

The AP skeleton is my favourite out of your collection, and too me that’s the holy grail watch and having 3 or more submariners is too much duplication as well. Looking forward too the next purchase! Really enjoy your channel take care ! 😊

I disagree. I always wear the watch in question for 7 consecutive days before deciding on whether or not to sell. Figure out and remember why I fell in love with it to begin with. That’s the only way you can be sure.

The Code 11.59 really puts the Royal Oak into perspective. The Royal Oak really looks like a 70s watch now. The skeletonised version gives it a kind of retro futuristic look and kind of makes it more durably timeless not to mention fascinating to look at.

Very great story selling it to a close friend. Imo the AP is the perfect watch in terms of business/professional environment BUT you also have the Nautilus so it's a very understandable decision.😊

I'm a big RO fan, but I sold my 15202 to invest in the RO Supersonnerie. It's kinda the same, only a little thicker! I miss the 15202, though.

I understand, and you were right. I'll never own such a watch, a SS Rolex sports model is all I can afford and I'm happy with that, but a watch that doesn't get worn should indeed be passed along to someone who will.

I totally agree with you view that watch collecting is a journey, there are no mistakes. The SD43 Rolex made me fall out of love with the Omega PO but i am giving it one more try before refining it. beside the double balanced wheel... the 15202 is just meh. The current market prices, you could have gotten more than 2x what you sold for. But respect that you helped your friend.

I talked to my AP AD in Paris last June and he told already at that time that they are discontinuing this model and not even waste time to be on the list but to go for the 15500, which I did.
