Sure, pc has game pass. PS5 does have some exclusives (and physical copies unlike xbox in many cases that may not even get a digital version, and nintendo tax/code in box bs) though I'd only use it for their retro catalog, which kinda undermines the vid. 4:54 remote play lets you do that, just don't buy a portal.
Well, I started gaming from PS4 then to Xbox SX to PS5. Now I finished all PS5 exclusives I feel like getting ripped off of PS5 anti consumer behavior. I could refund any games I don't like on Xbox but In Sony if you download it there is no chance you get your money back and if you complain to them to authority they will simply block your account.
The real problem with gaming on modern consoles extends beyond just decreases in console based exclusives. The modern generation of console gaming features practices ranging from microtransactions, constantly requiring downloads and installments of update patches that takes tens of gigabytes of hard drive space, and worst of all: making certain games unplayable without paying for additional subscriptions or connections to the internet. Because of this, I expect retro gaming to increase in the future whether it's through emulation or collections of old consoles and physical copies of games or both. Especially since more gamers are starting to realize that accessibility to a library of quality games were better in older generations because you just get the games you want and immediately begin playing them limitlessly without having to undergo anti-consumer BS like DRM, microtransactions, etc. as long as you have the right consoles in functional conditions, the correct cables for the video output + power source, and of course a controller to use.
The newest console I play on is a January 2007 PS3 and I get upset over the surprise download walls on its games. Can’t imagine how unbearable that aspect in modern setups would be for me.
You should check retro handheld like Anbernic, they're getting better and cheaper. I'm actually having a lot of fun playing to the PS2/GameCube era with one of those devices.
I am so glad I kept all of my old systems and games dating back to the original NES. I have them hooked up to a quality CRT and it's great. I'll also play plenty of games that I never got a chance to back in the day on emulator too.
@@davidaitken8503 I'm doing virtually the same thing. The original comment we're replying to perfectly articulates the fact game companies today resort to the most despicable and inexcusable anti-consumer practices because their quick cash grabs are more important than consumers' rights.
Stayed last gen console and retro. For me current gen is all about being current gen. Current gen is horrible for me, It's like they killed japanese gaming, killed lone wolf games, killed games based on learning curves. It's just dive into a old shell with new paint. What did they add, micro transactions, 50gb of movie footage in games and non physical games.. All of which are big no no's for me.
I play my Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and GameCube more than my PS5 and Nintendo Switch because the current generation features nothing but an increase of anti-consumer practices like microtransactions, etc. Gamers just want gaming to be as simple as purchasing the games they wish to play and limitlessly enjoying them but companies want control over consumers while satisfying their own greed in the process.
@@atomiswave1971 the thing is your current console is backwards compatible with the last gen and plays the games better than the last gen console does. So why get rid of it. Also you clearly don't play enough games if you think this gen hasnt got any worthwhile games.
@@jjnet123 I buy based on what is advertised. If I don't like what is advertised I don't buy the console. There are about 5 games I might buy. That does not warrant buying a 450 dollar, £ console to me... I have the switch and love it, but ps5 and Xbox are appalling for my tastes. I would add that up until this gen, I bought every console. I have 750 games since 1994
You're not old. I'm old. My first modern console at the time was the Nintendo Entertainment system. I also sold all my modern consoles last year, but for different reasons I think. It's about access to my games. Nintendo wants me to subscribe to a service to rent access to the original Legend of Zelda on the Switch. I've purchased that game five different times in the last 30 years; Once for the NES, once for the Gameboy Advance, once on the Wii virtual console, once for the 3ds virtual console, and once in the NES classic edition. Five different purchases, and they still want me to pay a recurring fee just to rent access on my modern console. Meanwhile I started my Steam account 20 years ago. Fall of 2004 I bought Half Life 2. Today in 2024, I can still launch and play Half Life 2 the same as I could 20 years ago, and I expect in another 20 years I'll still be able to launch and play it. I can play it on my Steam Deck or my desktop, and if I upgrade either later to entirely different devices I can still download and play just fine. Not only can I play my 20 year old Steam games today just fine. (The equivalent of playing your Gamecube games on your Switch.) I could go dig up some floppy disk PC game I bought in the early 90s, plug it into a cheap USB floppy drive and run THAT on my modern PC or Steam Deck. That's like being able to plug your NES cartridges into your Switch. It took me something like 35 years of buying and owning consoles to realize that today, especially with digital distribution, consoles are temporary. When I bought my PS4, it could play none of my PS3 games, nevermind my PS2 and PS1 games. Being able to play those old games relies on maintaining decades old hardware. (Or emulation, which I have no qualms about.) Speaking of emulation, not only can my PC play 40+ years worth of PC games, but I can play 40+ years worth of CONSOLE GAMES too. In the end, consoles are temporary. PC is forever. (And as a contingency plan in the unlikely event that Steam goes under, I feel morally justified in just pirating my legally purchased games anyway.)
@@The8bitbeard bullshit or lie. you can't play 40 yrs old floppy games without emulation and lots of efforts or sometimes hours of troubleshooting. pc is not sunshine and roses, bw compat is a theoretical lie. heck I often have to tweak my 15 yrs old gog games! no, thanks. I love gaming, not troubleshootimg. and yes, nintendo is evil ;)
Miyoo Mini Plus is mine now and it might not be the sexiest thing around but it satisfies my needs nicely. I don't have to pay for a Game Pass sub, worry about stores constantly spamming you with ads to get you to buy stuff, etc.
My gaming laptop crashes twice a day or so. Never had a game console crash on me yet. I'm in agreement that there are ever less reasons to own a gaming console these days, but my gaming consoles turn on quickly and simply work.
I did one better, I didn't even buy current gen consoles 😆 PS4 was the last console I bought. It feels like they don't even want me to buy a series X or PS5.
Handhelds have made a very compelling case to ditch traditional consoles. I still haven't bought into gen 9 yet, but a Steam Deck - especially at the refurbished prices - is likely to be my next "console".
I recommend you guys look into the company GPD. They have been making portable PC's for years and they are pretty powerful in a very small form handheld. I have the GPD WIN 4, but if you want a mini laptop the latest one is the GPD Mini. They both have keyboards and the mouse is easy to maneuver as well with the joysticks.
Had me until the end with the Switch comments. They arent any better. Just half hearted ports and charge a premium. Feel like people get consoles for the convenience. PC elitists need to understand not everyone wants to deal with PC.
Fair. I mentioned the switch because ever since Nintendo killed Yuzu, it’s the only place to play Tears of the Kingdom, Mario RPG, and the remaster of Links Awakening.
I know that's right. A guy argued with me about this on the Xbox subreddit when I said that all these old fighting games that aren't coming to Xbox can easily be emulated and played on damn near anything but you're going to cap and say that oh I had a hard day at work and don't want to tweak stuff on a PC. I was like no man but you have to understand that it's Microsoft's fault why this is happening and to not shoot me the messenger. I get that.
Perfectly understandable. The fact a majority of games (not to mention the most popular titles) for the current generation consoles already contain versions for the previous generation consoles only convinces people to believe upgrading from previous generation consoles to current generation consoles is nothing but a waste of money.
Exactly $500 for pretty much the ps4 pt 2 Lmao just getting a pc handheld is enough for me all I need is my deck gave my switch to my sister and I don’t even use my gaming laptop for gaming anymore after I got the deck
@@Mr._Pollo there's more than just indie games also you can play the whole PS4 Library with enhancements or better performance. If you don't see that as worth it then you probably are burned out from the hobby
@@jjnet123there's no need for a PS5 if he already has a PS4 that can play PS4 games. As for indie games they're on all platforms. Usually on PC before anything else. Switch can also handle them and are more convenient cause you can play them on the go. PS5 is to expensive for the bare minimum it offers in terms of gaming
@@Ssjangel3 yes there is a need for a ps5 it literally runs alot of PS4 games better and it's lower noise and faster loading because of the SSD you all can't be tech enthusiasts if you deny an upgrade over something that is now kinda pointless to own.
I left my console gaming behind last month after seeing the writing on the wall. I'm console gamed since they first came out, I'm a much older casual gamer. I bought a gaming PC last month and enjoy it very much, it's much better and has less red tape and drama. Not going back to Xbox or any console gaming.
Strap in this is gonna be long 😂 switched to PC 4 years ago with a 8940 Dell Prebuilt. 3060 t.i/ I7 10700k. It's only midrange. It had heating issues as I found others complain on the forums. A lot of returns but I stuck with it. I simply opened up 1 side panel and started blasting my cpu/gpu fans and now even with demanding games/overclocked GPU it stays around 50c or less. My GPU technically is only 10% better than consoles but on average is outperforming them by atleast 40%. I sub to console performance testers to compare. My PC runs faster and smoother than 4 years ago since I've been on a constant optimizing journey where my PC just keeps improving. It's very nice being able to play a game like Hellblade 2 60 fps, 4K using DLDSR and then using an emulator like Mame to play a game no longer available. PC is Freedom and Growth.
The only thing I've cared about this generation is Resident Evil Games on PSVR2. I still haven't sold my PS5 solely because I am waiting for Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake to come out for PSVR2.
I believe that the reason why games are on every platform now is the all time increasing development costs (plus never ceasing corporate greed), that makes it so exclusives aren't earning enough. Nintendo also has the advantage on this one cause switch games MOSTLY (TLOZ aside) don't cost as much to make with its inferior graphics. And while I do agree with you, I'll still be a console player mostly because I like to keep things separate. I own 2 gaming PCs cause my job (3D rendering) requires so, but it feels wrong to me to play on the same device that I work on everyday.
@@fuji3d_studio multi platform took off because consoles use standard graphics cards and AMD Intel processors. It's just a pc in a smaller box. Older generation consoles took a very non pc approach to graphics processing meaning ports were much harder.
@@uchennaobi5985 sure, but all the online and fmv footage is all fluff to me. I like arcade games, turn it on, play. I'd rather buy 50 of those than 1 behemoth of a game with a million bugs, online transactions. Online play and constant updates. I know I'm the minority, current gen has moved beyond my sweet spot by a couple of decades.
Im never selling my consoles when i was a kid my stepfather sold my super Nintendo and my Sega Genesis as a adult im just now getting those memories back through my moded wii ps4 & xbox one
The biggest reason for me is that you can’t even buy a game anymore they are never finished filled with bugs you always have to download something stupid and that’s a big dealbreaker for me
This is exactly why I'm selling my Xbox Series S and saving up for a Steam Deck. Probably going to just play on Switch and Steam Deck from here on out.
I gave up on consoles after the PS4. The console was once free to play online when the PS3 was out. The PS4 stopped that and as of 2016 they raised the price of PS+ and I remember the system sounding like a jet engine all the time. Why would i want to a console tjat can barely handle games and sounded like it was gonna die on me while also paying money to the same conpany who made the crappy console just so i play online when it was free. PC offers far more features than any console has had, i have the freedom to make the PC my own, i can make it look how i want, and that Includes the software, and so much more. With crossplay, and us on PC getting exclusive games from xbox and PlayStation. Why would i meed a console?
@@b4rs629 PC and switch are the best combo that I know of. I prefer the steam deck over the switch, but until I can play my switch games on the steam deck its switch for some games. I rip my movies from disc to my own personal server. Best way In my opinion to watch movies from disc. Back them up and save them as back ups.
I literally clicked on this video because I thought he was gonna talk about selling his consoles because he matured and had a spiritual awakening lol. No longer cares about gaming. That's how I am now. I don't care about video games much now in general.
After getting a ps5 (which is basically the ps4 pro 2). I have only bought 6 “ps5 games”, and 4 of those games were released for the ps4 as well. What a let down this generation has been that I have decided that I will get into pc gaming.
Personally, I believe that the fact that Sony and Microsoft are not creating strong exclusives is only a positive factor for us consumers. Take, for example, games that everyone loved but are exclusive and therefore locked on old consoles, or consider the situation where someone with a limited budget has to miss out on great games because they can't afford to own three consoles. I understand the nostalgic attachment to consoles, but it was just an anti-consumer policy. What I think consoles are still good for, and the reason why I believe it's also ethical to sell them, is that they offer an alternative ecosystem to a PC that is more affordable, easier to manage, and provides the guarantee of a long gaming period without the need for upgrades and modifications, knowing that the manufacturer is collaborating with developers to ensure a satisfying gaming experience.
Nintendo is an exception to this, they still develop games for there own console, The switch is powerful enough to run most games (Keyword there is most), and it's cheaper than the PS5/4 and XBox One/X... Not the S however, since it is more competitively priced...
90% of what I play is on the Nintendo Switch. There are so many amazing games I don't know how I'm ever going to get through my backlog. For the occasional game like Elden Ring, EDF6, Wanted Dead, etc. I play on PC. Microsoft and Sony have made themselves completely irrelevant.
Exactly. The only console that's worth it in this generation is the Nintendo Switch. And, honestly, in my opinion, it's the BEST console ever in Nintendo's history, and quite probably the BEST EVER in general. The vast majority of PC, PS5 and Seires X players on the internet have been claiming that "gaming is dead" and that "modern gaming sucks", while Nintendo Switch players are the HAPPIEST they've ever been. I am one of them. The Switch makes you want to play EVERYTHING. I already have 800 games in my collection! I've personaly rated more than 100 of them with 5/5 stars. That's how good the Switch's library is.
Im 37 years old and i've had alot of consoles in my lifetime. New consoles for me just arent worth it. Every game doesn't need to be AAA or Service,Sequel,Remake. I had a PC in 1999 but i still enjoyed my consoles as well. During those times dev's weren't afraid to try new things. In 2021 i purchased a PC and an Ultrawide monitor, i will never go back to New consoles. Better performance and you're not limited to one library. Most people i know on consoles play the same games. GtA,2k,Madden,COD, and they keep buying those same games year after Year. The only console i can see myself buying is the next Nintendo console.
I play mostly retro games. I stopped with consoles at the PS4, it just seems the choice is less and less and most games are built around the in game purchases online model. I have the Switch and I'd buy another when the Switch 2 comes out. Its probably the closest to what older consoles would offer.
I arrived to the same conclusion. I used to be a long time Sony fanboy over all the exclusives they provided but they seem to be going the same route as MS. They don't understand that by making a quick buck by selling their games to PC owners, theyre just handing all of their business to Valve. There's no more incentive now to buy consoles. I'm here for it. Thanks Sony!
Exactly Microsoft is just shooting their entire Xbox brand in the foot and handing thier business to Valve , and even before Gamepass existed Microsoft just simply stopped trying to compete with AAA exclusivity after around 2010 (and they tried to go nintendos route with kinect).
Sony started off well this generation but dropped the ball towards the end of 2022. There haven't been any good single player games since then other than Spider-Man 2 which was arguably a bit bland. Xbox has had it even worse but their showcase got me hyped.
@fionnmaccuill415 Yeah but linking my steam account on my PC to my Steam Deck fixes that perfectly. And even if I wanted a dedicated Steam console for the living rom, you don't need to use Windows. You can install Bazzite onto it and play just like a console without dealing with Windows entirely.
I’m more and more glad I stuck with PC gaming (I do have a NES top loader, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis and a Sega Saturn (with the Fenrir built in).
almost never was an early adopter of consoles. Past the 5th gen I was PC primarily. But I would normally pick up a console mid to lateway through the generation once prices came down to play exclusives. Obviously, there's absolutely no reason to do that this generation
I already felt like the PS4 is where I hang my hat, after three decades of chasing the graphics dragon, I find it more satisfying now to just enjoy a destination, rather than carrying on with the same journey. Over time Im just being given more and more excuses to keep feeling that way, diminishing returns, esg woke politics that hate me for my skin color, lack of games for sure, it goes on.
Last console I owned was an Xbox One. Didn’t see a reason to go beyond that and most of my friends play games that I don’t care for anymore. Now I play Nintendo Switch (for games I want & portability), plus I just purchased a Steamdeck since my laptop was up in age and inconvenient at times. I think I have the best of both worlds now.
The only reason I’m keeping my Xbox X for 3 reasons 1. because I bought it and if I sold it, I’m gonna lose money 2. I do not have a disc drive on my PC so if I wanna watch movies or whatever I have to use my Xbox. 3.GTA 6 that’s it
This is exactly why my ps5 is collecting dust. I’ll stick to my pc. I love the fact pc has Sony exclusives being released, god of war ragnorak next, HELL YEAH! I hated the controller, forbidden west is awesome but my god. Waste of money. Bought it on pc, now I’m happy. Everything Xbox has is basically on pc now also…
I was dead set on buying a gaming PC. But I reminded myself of issues I've had with Windows and Steam. Windows errors, DLL errors, DirectX errors, exe errors, freezes, crashes, blue screen of death. Steam has trouble installing this game, why? Controller works with this game, oh wait it doesn't work in the menus though, WTF? So overall I do like gaming on PC, but it has given me a lot of errors and I can't stand playing without a controller. I also hate ok, install Steam, install EA, install Gog, name and password, verifiy with email code, install each game, adjust graphical and frame rate settings now for whatever game you want to play. ERGH! Way too much work to do. I use to be a heavy COD player, so FPS really did matter for me before, but now I don't like COD anymore, it's the same old stuff every single year, it's gotten old and I will never buy COD ever again. So now I really don't care about FPS as only COD and Battlefield games you needed the good frame rate at all. One more big thing for me is every game I own on Xbox and Steam I already own on PlayStation consoles, therefore why own a gaming PC or Xbox? I have 18 still exclusive Xbox games, but I really don't care about them so much. I own over 500 games across PS12345, while I own 36 on Steam and every one I already own on PS consoles. I own 137 of the same games on PS consoles as Xbox. So Xbox and PC go bye bye, I wasted a ton of money to get those games for sure, but now I've realized that. I've always been a big Sony fan anyway, Sony TV and Sony consoles and Sony speakers on PCs over the years. But overall because of the errors on Windows and Xboxes I'm going Mac and PlayStation only. UNIX on both. Microsoft just seems to be failing lately anyway.
I play only on my Nintendo Switch now that I also sold my PS5 and Xbox Series S. It was a personal declutter thing too, but if I really want to play Sony or Microsoft games, I’ll get a Steam Deck or Switch style tablet that can do what Nintendon’t.
I play a lot of Xbox 360 games that have been updated on an Xbox one. Also still love my PS4, Switch and 3ds. The older handheld systems by Nintendo and Sony are still something I always go back to.
Modern gaming just doesn't hit like it did 5-10 years ago. Maybe it's because I'm pushing closer to my 40's and no games really captivate me anymore, I dunno. But, the last console game I really enjoyed playing was Spider-Man on the PS4....which I sold that console after beating the game, keeping my Xbox One S as a 4K Blu-ray player first, gaming console second. As someone who also has a fairly capable gaming PC still (RTX 2070), I can still play most of these modern games on my PC if I wanted to. That being said, too many games feel like a service as opposed to feeling like an actual game with a story. Needless to say, I've been perfectly fine with my soft-modded PS3, my Xbox One S, my gaming PC, and my Nintendo Switch for each type of gaming need. And I have to say that I'm perfectly fine with that.
I agree with this sentiment. I was on the fence about doing the same and now that I look around me and see I have so many Nintendo Switch games... vs PS5 games... there is definitely a reason for that. My PC. I think I'll be doing the same as you soon. Thanks for helping me understand what I was feeling for the past couple years.
I have a Switch, a New 2DS XL, a PSP and a Retro Emulation Handheld wich is the Anbernic RG35XX-H because I'm always on the go, and don't have the time to play on my PS4 Pro (wich is great). The RG35XX-H is right now my most used device because I mainly play PS1 and GBA games on it because there are soooo many PS1 games I always wanted to play and never got a chance, and the GBA games are perfect for their Pick Up and Play designe. 😊
I remember when Xbox one was coming out and I got an Xbox360 because I wanted to play Minecraft. I didn’t really care about the specs and things but I was glad that it was the E model. ( That was the only spec I was looking for though because of the red ring of death issue with previous Xbox360 models. ) I had that console for 12+ years and still work like a charm. I just love keep retro consoles because those are the time you didn’t have to rely on internet for things other than the update. Some systems have that option if you want to use the internet for things but you didn’t have to. However I do like modern systems because you have the option to be able to play many of games without buying physical copies. ( I just don’t want to collect too many physical copies of games. )
I'll always see console as living room/couch pick up a controller and zone out, VR and Sim rigs are awesome but i dont want to go that far unless i build a PC
As addict gamer I still love playing old pc games. No xbox controller just the old school way keyboard and mouse. until to this day I still play classic games such as The Longest Journey. Its like red wine never goes old.
I still have my PS5 and Series X…I also have a Gaming PC, Switch, Steam Deck OLED, ROG Ally X…emulation handhelds like Odin 2 Mini, etc. All that said, I stopped buying games for Xbox and pretty much have mine to access my catalog of games if I want. I predominantly play on my PS5 as I can never fully get into PC gaming. The PC handhelds helped…but I’ll almost always prefer console.
So I remember for the longest time I played on console. I had a Wii since it came out, but Nintendo didn't really push it very hard to me because there were always pushes for more "hardcore" titles. I got a 360 in 2011, so to say that I built a collection quickly was an understatement. Soon in 2013 to 2014 there was the news of Xbox One. And I didn't get it. I remember Microsoft having stores was trendy and I tried to BS with a rep or two. I wasn't impressed. And wanting to get into tech, my idea of a gateway into the market was building my own PC. Jobs weren't really looking to toss experience and I was into audio production so it sounded like a logical step. Black Friday of 2015 came around, and I figured "maybe I should get a cheap video card. If I like gaming on PC. " This was when steam was getting tons of support on reddit as well. Almost a decade later and I'm still using my PC, upgraded the video card but it's been pretty smooth sailing. I guess I just got too old for console gaming.
Gta 6, Mafia the old country, Gears of war E day.. these 3 are the big upcoming releases that will be just console exclusive for a good amount of time *I believe consoles provide much better performance for a better price. Just buy the game, plug and play.
I only hop on my ps5 to play specific multiplayer games like nba2k because the PC version doesnt support anti cheat. For anything else I play on PC mostly because I dont play games for long sessions. Often I need to browse the web, watch some flix and also get some work done. I think it all comes down to your life and gaming style. There is no one right answer.
You're all good if you're willing to wait for PS5 exclusives but you're also a little jaded. There's no way I could wait to play some of these exclusives that have released this generation. There's plenty to play to distract you. I own what I own to be able to play what I want to play as it becomes available.
Grew up playing games on both NES and Sega Genesis, then moved to N64 & PC. These days I play both retro and modern on every console and handheld I own. I would like to have a PS5, though it's not just the lack of games (that I can get on my PS4) but the price tag, $600.00 Canadian, are you shitting me?!
Yeup, I think I’m also done. Series x will be my final main console. I’ll be sticking with my steam deck and any other releases steam has. I no longer care for the lack luster releases. Indie games and small devs know how to make some amazing games, compared to these triple A companies.
I personally believe it's great that console's now days don't have many exclusives. However one thing I don't understand it is why the have sucreption service in the order to play online. The Truth is i understand why they have this sucreption service what I don't understand how people are okay with pay in the order to play online.
The more I hear about pc gaming, the more I want to jump aboard! I have series X while I had a blast with it! My reason is that I just want customization on all my games to run on one resolution and framerate! 120fps is something you have to see and never look back.
I also have found that the modern controls and controllers have become so complex to use that in many cases I have found games unplayable for me anyway
Now days I just play my steam deck and on older consoles PS2, PS3. Yes I understand people like that blockbuster single player Sony scene but apart from Astro bot, there really isn't anything exciting
My 4 favorite consoles will always be the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and GameCube because of their rich library of games (both exclusives and 3rd party titles). In addition, I can enjoy games on those systems without having to worry about DRM, microtransactions, etc.
I sold modern consoles too. I loved Famicom, PlayStation, Nintendo DSi and PlayStation 4. Current generation is lacking and I have no faith that something change, it's because of social culture I think.
I agree 100%... i did my transition a couple years ago as well after noticing this as you mentioned. I love my consoles though and i kept them as my collectibles. But i only play on PC now. As for the portable PC you mention (ROG Ally) i use a GPD WIN 4. It does everything i want for IT work purposes, and gaming all in one. Cheers!
Some valid arguments but you left out a few key points. The main reason people don't switch to PC is price; a high-end gaming PC costs upwards of £2000 here in the UK which is expensive. Even one that has similar specs to the PS5/Series X will be over a grand. Secondly, it's the ease of use; whilst you can do more with a PC you still need to do regular updates and fiddle around with settings which most gamers aren't interested in. Plus, you have to use mouse and keyboard which is never ideal in a living room environment.
Not really key points bc u can build a PC for far cheaper than that but ppl lazy and it will compete with consoles or outperform them and consoles have more updates, fiddling , installing patches, fixes firmware updates etc and console literally still have to install the game even tho u bought the disc and consoles are forced to deal with the update immediately while PC can choose when to update or bypass it and lol u don't have to use a keyboard and mouse on a PC I can use any controller and mix match them when playing local multiplayer I never use keyboard and I play it in the living room lol who told u this wrong info🤣
@@peezydabeatmonster8112 buddy, trying using some punctuation in your sentences, it makes it a lot easier to read lol. Firstly, "consoles have more updates, fiddling, installing patches, fixes firmware updates" - just no. Everything you said there is on PC. I can't even remember the last time my Series X updated and it usually does when I switch it off anyway. That's another trick up its sleeve that PC doesn't have. Only PS5 forces me to wait to update but it usually takes less than 5 mins to download the patch. You use a controller to navigate Windows? That doesn't sound very practical at all. In fact, I don't know anyone who does that. And why would you use a controller for multiplayer when most PC gamers prefer the fast response of a mouse? Even console gamers use mouse and keyboard for certain FPS games.
@@cun7us last time I checked im not receiving a grade from RU-vid or u to care Poindexter. and firstly PC dont require firmware updates that's your restricted console that does, so that's low iQ and incorrect. and you just proving my point "my switch can update turned off"🤔🤣 yet your original post was debating for Xbox and PS5 dummy not the switch lol u keep exposing yourself. and the fact u think that's a trick big enough for ppl to care about while PC has a million more tricks over the switch tells me u probably failed pros and cons in school as well. A PC can play switch games while a switch will never be able to play PC or anything else bc it's too weak , that's a bigger trick Houdini. And your last paragraph just shows how dumb consoles are making y'all in general only a idiot would assume I'm using a controller to navigate windows while saying what's practical in the same sentence lol.🤔🤣 and when did I say anything about fps games? Stop projecting everybody don't play the same lame games And just bc everybody else use a keyboard I suppose to also when it's other options? Lol You got the top tier follower mindset everybody jump off the bridge u jumping too bc everybody else did lol pathetic
If one has a gaming PC that can handle games at least as well as the modern consoles, then yeah, you probably don't need those consoles. For me personally though, I'm using a gaming laptop. It's really good, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't say it handles as well as a console. In fact, many of the beefier games I have tend to lag or be choppy or whatever. Improving the RAM has helped with that, but it's still there. The games are just more playable now. And I'm always concerned about my laptop overheating. So that's why I still have my Xbox Series S and still play it. The console can handle games better than my laptop, so if I want a smooth gaming experience, especially in a multiplayer game, I'm usually gonna go with my console. That said, I definitely see what you mean, and honestly, it feels like we're in a sort of dark age of gaming. Don't get me wrong, I believe there are some amazing games in development using the latest game development technology these companies could get their hands on, but we still have to wait years for those games to come out, or even hear any updates about them. Despite the countless video games that are available to us, it tends to feel like we've run out of games to play, and so we're desperately waiting for the next game that we can hopefully play for more than a day, and on more than one occasion.
I'm playing my way through the Mainline Zelda series from Ocarina of Time. I'm up to Twilight Princess. Who needs expensive current-gen hardware when these gems can all be played on a hacked Wii I paid $30 for.
I have both gaming pc and ps5 , i enjoy gaming on ps5, because its hassle free just turn on and play(that sounded vulgar 😅), with pc its driver update launcher update, sometimes game stutter even though fps is good enough
The only reason I'd want one of the new systems is old "exclusives" (Castlevania SOTN (Xarcade, or the psp port for the ps5), banjo (+rare replay) ....
Great video my boy!!!!!! Been saying this for years!!!! You are 100% correct about everything you said in the video. I stopped buying xbox games and consoles years ago. Add to th4 fact you have to always be online, digital and gaming as a service like netflix stinks and should die. I see why xbox is a failure, always will be and sony isnt too far behind. Nintendo for life!!!!
Counterpoint, the rising costs of gaming PCs is making consoles an increasingly attractive options for many gamers. Combine this with the reduced need of powerful PCs for everyday work that it makes it less justifiable. Btw I am a pc gamer.
Rising cost ?? Pre built gaming PCs have one but not so much one u build yourself that's the difference consoles have a bigger rising cost in the systems, games 70$-100$, joysticks 70-200$, micro transactions, dlcs, and gotta pay for online every years so you'll never be done paying money and in 5 years console players will have to buy another system and do it again ...and how is your counterpoint about PC " Gaming" but your argument is a reduced need for work 🤔 that sound like something a uniformed console player would say if it's for gaming what does work has to do with it?!??
@@jawsofwaryeah but noticed u named one specific thing for PC and the difference is you can buy a gpu u can actually afford everything console related is the highest it's ever been and its at a set price so if u can't afford it u just won't be able to play and console cost twice as much in the long run if games are 70-100 and joysticks 70-200 and u gotta paying for online every year console players are paying the same amount as a gpu in bout 2 months on top of paying for game passes and subscriptions...consoles are 4 years into this generation and ppl will be buying a new system in a year or 2 and will have to buy it all again at even higher prices thinking short term yield short term results vice versa
@@peezydabeatmonster8112 to get a gpu capable of similar performance to ps5 it is more expensive then you need motherboard cpu cooler peripherals etc. that is going to be several thousand dollars. A lot of people cannot afford that upfront cost. I have a gaming pc and console but I am not most people. Right now you also have optimization issues due to unreal engine stuttering on the cpu side as well.
As a pc, Ps5 and switch owner. I actually barely played Sony 1st party games.I most play on Ps5 cause of playing on my couch and i have like a massive library/ game share my bro library. I really don't buy games since my bro does.
I have a PS5 and a PC right now and i don't plan to sell my console. I use the PS5 to watch blu-rays which is nice as even the PC i bought before my current one 5 years ago didn't come with a disc drive. I can still play all my PS4 games both digital and physical. I like the ''it just works'' aspect of it so many times i've bought a game on PC where i have to edit a config or .ini file to change options just today black myth wukong wouldn't save it had a bug where iit wouldn't save permissions to read/write even though i added ti to my windows permissions. With i've never had any hassle of any kind you just turn it on install the game and play.
I agree with you 100%. The ps5 has been a glorified (expensive) dvd player since I bought it. I’ve had more enjoyment on the switch as well as the steamdeck. My only gripe about the newer handheld tech is that the batteries drain by the second. The 😢anti glare option is a must have option for me after purchasing this latest OLED steam deck model. How is the battery life on the Rog Ally?
The ROG's battery life is kind of all over the place. It's amazing in game that use the 15 watt setting and potentially godawful in games that use the 25 watt turbo mode.
@@GarrettCrespo Good to know. I wanna look into it but it is convenient that the steam deck comes with the steam store. Do you download other software to run your games? Thanks for answering. 🩷
@@nutmeg9593 The Ally actually runs Steam in big picture mode like the Steamdeck and has Xbox game manager built right in. And because (for better or worse) it’s a PC, you can install launchers for most anything. Again, for better or worse (Ubisoft…) 😅
pc prices and windows 11 is ridiculous, also the troubleshooting part and segmentation is annoying. ea desktop, uplay, epic, steam, gog, psn and xlive, cheaters and driverupdates. I still have a pc and bought psvr2 pc adapter recently.... but man, the bugs and troubleshooting for psvr especially ! terrible experience....
When I got the Series X it was around the time PC parts shot up in price dramatically, so I settled only on a Series X for it's better backwards compatibility as well as a Dev mode scene that was happening. I use it as an emulation machine especially for the ps2. been playing Final Fantasy X on XBSX2, HD Texture pack with the original animations broken on the rerelease and retroachievements and having a blast with it. I essentially look at the Series X as a technical upgrade to play my existing games at a better resolution (if it has a one x patch) and better performance. If it only had games that come out this gen I would never have bought it as it's been a terrible generation for games as a whole. I will switch to PC in the future, for now my Series X and Potato PC will do for now and I do have a PS4 Pro on the side as well.
Xbox360 and ps3 where great but there where people crying about how crapy them console where back in the day to this stuff never ends and is nothing new.
That’s true, but have you ever thought about the fact that the 7th generation of consoles will be the last generation where you can play almost all of the games released that generation without needing to rely on servers to download whatever wasn’t on disc? From a preservation perspective, that’s a massive deal!
these are the reasons why i have a modern console 1 its easy and comfortable and i can play on a big tv 2 for me its more fun playing the big games on the ps5 3 my friends 4 i have not played a lot of the PlayStation exclusives and i would rather play them on the ps5 bc u can get a game boost from some of them 5 it runs good and looks good on my big tv
I totally get it! And for some people, that's totally fine! Everyone has their reasons and preferences. This video is mainly to categorize what I've seen and what my opinions are. 😁
@armyxveteran yeah pc plays on big tv but it does not work as simple and easy as a console and just bc it can play on a big tv does not mean it will run well mods are fun i have not played the exclusives so i would rather just play them on console also if you want your games to run good on pc you have to spend a lot especially if you want to play it on a big tv
PS4 is good for now for me, I mostly like retro games, so I do have the following Nes, Snes, N64, Nintendo Gamecube and Nintendo Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Ps1, Ps2, Ps3, Neo Geo MVS consolized and Game Boy Advance consolized. I also have Nvidia Shield TV and Mekotronics. I'm not really interested in a PS5 or Xbox for now, I am waiting on a switch 2 though.
I’m not gonna sell my PS5 and Xbox Series X but I will say I highly doubt I will be buying the next iterations of these consoles when they are released. I probably won’t build a PC either though since these days I’m always working and don’t have time to be glued to a desk to play games. The future for me will likely be portable game systems only
@KD6-3.7.2 probably the best thing the nintendo switch and steam deck are good at. I love the trophy system of Playstation games but many switch games have their own achievements built into them like new pokemon snap.
Thank you for saying it. Not many people on RU-vid inform the young about these points. As a fellow fan of halo that grew up on halo n Xbox I'm so disappointed with MS 343 & the state of the gaming industry. Playing playstation up until the PS3 game cube Gameboy advance & the ds up to he Wii it's crazy when u realize we lived through the best era of gaming. Always found the console wars to be so ridiculous n below me. As gamer I just love games. MS would be the dumbest if they don't jump on having the steam library available on the next gen console.
I do not plan to buy any new consoles from PS or XB but I'm not selling my current ones. I really play my old DSi XL, 3DS and Vita more than anything else and the few new games I'm interested in are on Switch. I really don't care for PC gaming though as I don't like the idea of constantly upgrading and fighting with drivers and I really hate Windows. I know it's been a long time since the Voodoo 2 days but I remember so many battles back then to get games to play so I doubt I will ever go back to PC gaming. Most likely I will mod the rest of the retro consoles I still have lying around and play those for a while.
I think the exclusive argument is weak. They shouldn’t be the primary reason one buys a certain console (Nintendo is an slight exclusion). The services and the platform should be the main thing to bring you over.
i am letting my jailbroken PS5 go for rog ally with 2tb upgraded ssd that a guy offer me. got the damn thing and was soo excited. what a disappointment it was.
