One thing you underestimate is how likable you are. Certainly I started watching you for the stimulus checks, but now I just like hearing your voice and listening to your information even if it isn’t earth shattering. There’s a lot of us who are alone and just have our little RU-vid buddies. I love hearing other peoples stories when I like the person. Please share more about you. Here’s an idea. When I watch my keto carnivore nutrition people they would do videos like what I eat in a day or the grocery halls or just a typical day for them. Maybe you could put together a Composition of a typical day in the life for you so we can get to know you better as a person.
Max Maher I’ll sub- but since there’s no guarantee that there’s gonna be a lot of stimulus type info forever, I actually like you interspersing it in these videos. Come to get us used to blending the two types of information and as our world normalizes overtime, will become invested in you as a person over time as well. If you split your information, you may not get as higher numbers in each Channel. If you want I am foot, I would keep sharing your personal story in with this channel so we all can get to know you better here, and only split them when you have a ton of subscribers. RU-vid is a business as well, do you want all the financial benefit you can get from this one channel 1st. Just my feeling since I watch so many RU-vidrs and I see them splitting themselves off like that. Good case in point was Bobby’s perspective. I actually liked hearing some of his mushroom trips as well as his ex vegan and carnivore info all in one place. He split off his channel to be just about psilocybin and the spiritual side, but though I subscribed, nothing much happened over there. I had a better chance of seeing his spiritual mushroom side on his main RU-vid channel. I ended up unsubscribing from the mushroom spiritual channel.

Great video! I had a residential cleaning service 20 years ago and within a year had over 100 clients. Sadly, due to my divorce had to put it to bed, but it was a great experience.

If I buy a pool route and have an employee clean the pools, do I need to be physically located in the same city? Or is it possible to run the business remotely?
Hi Max, really enjoyed your video concerning the purchase, development and eventual sale of your pool business. Fascinating to hear the story. I was an owner of a trucking company in upstate NY. (Live in Wickenburg now) We ran east of the Miss, hired owner operators to reduce direct costs of repairs ,etc. Very profitable and a fair and balanced rate to owners so all were happy and we got our work done with a solid sense of teamwork. Great to hear other stories from business owners. I hear wonderful spirit and super ideas. Much better flexibility in competition as well. Thanks for sharing....."hey, have a profitable day too" 💜
I had a Pool maintnence / repair business in Boca Raton at your age. There were some cool things as you said that I liked about it. I was an underacheiver and never wanted to deal with employees. Big mistake , if your cleaning / repairing 65 + accounts you can get burned out in 2 - 5 years. FL. humidity can be murder . Then you get up one day and just want to walk away. I guess not much has changed. The rule in those days was sell the route for 9 months gross. That was the 80s early 90s .

Thank you for these type of videos. You have the heart of a mentor. My in laws have owned and sold several businesses and my aunt has the heart like you do helping others and entrepreneurship. Its not always glamorous or super high earning many times its the experience you learn.
I also had my first customer as my first pool cleaning just over 3 years ago. I am now very well respected in my area in SW Florida with 52 accounts and holding just because I really don't want to deal with employees or work any more days. I have a monthly revenue just over $5K and work just two days per week. The pool business is where it's at for sure. I often think about cashing out, but I always come back to the same thought...What do I do then. This is too easy only downside is I can never go anywhere because I have to be there each and every week, if I could ever figure out how to find a fill in guy or gal for vacations or sick time I would literally love my business!
@@ericcendejas7505 I live in SW Florida and my accounts are so close together. I optimize each days route so that I am just blocks from the next pool. I have since added my son and we do 25 per day 4 days a week Tuesday thru Friday @ $145 per pool per month. We work from sun up (first light) till about 11 in the morning. We want to expand, but good help is so hard to find down here especially because they really can't miss work. I hope this helps

Great topic! I live here in Florida and I have had a hair salon for over 30 years. I have been practically working my whole life running my biz and have had several stylists in the years. Owning your own biz sounds great but there are always the other side of the coin. You have to make your biz your biz and run it the way you want. P.s. Almost everything was done by adding flyers to doors. After that, word-of-mouth can be a powerful tool. Offer incentives for people to refer you to their nearby friends/family. You've gotta be extra creative while designing your flyers though. Most people immediately throw away flyers without even reading them, so it's important to catch their attention! I like your idea of using google maps to only do homes with pools, however, I literally would do every home. In Arizona, most homes have pools anyways. If I dropped a flyer off at a home that doesn't have a pool, there's always a chance that they'll tell their friend or family member... You never know! If you're in an area where pools are less common, you can always use your Google Maps idea. Good luck out there man!! Oh, and one last piece of advice for anybody running a small business: Answer your darn calls, texts, and emails as quickly as you can. It blows my mind how many businesses are absolutely horrible with communication and then they lose clients.

I do it as a hobby. Pool cleaning . After I paid over $500 for an ag pool opening w chemicals. No more. I do what you do and because of pandemic, people r getting pools. I’m an expert now w 15. Years. How much did u charge for cleaning, opening , closing please advise

Max Maher of course. Most stay with new owners otherwise most pool business wouldn’t exist. I was just wondering about those who leave with new ownership. It’s unavoidable statistic. Are there any particular things you’ve done to minimize number of loss?
Makes me creatively consider that there is some money making need to be met, whatever the economy. I heard of a young kid in India who was not afraid of snakes, and people quickly started paying him to clean snakes out of their houses. By age ten, he had as much money as most men in the village. He then began buying chickens and recruiting help to build henhouses, and so he continued.
Toss some " Shock " into it. But don't swim in it for a few days or your hair will turn green, lol. Can be bought at any pool supply. They may even show you how to test the PH levels yourself . Good luck. Regards Brenda
The only thing that was factually correct about this was the fact that we were business partners. Although, while I spent 43 nights in the hospital he wouldn't put in enough effort to save the company. He is a bad business partner and an even worse brother. #tellthetruth
I’m a pretty good judge of character and I’d say you were the one who was the bad brother. I don’t know what kind of illness you had, but I’m certain Max did the best he could to carry his weight and yours.
