If you’re interested in more details of my experience, it was great. The download speeds are consistently over 100mbit/s, but uploads haven’t really gotten much higher than the teens in my experience. That being said, this is a solution for people who are using a cell-based connection out in the middle of nowhere, and this is actually, and i hate this term, a game-changer.
Other than some outages that should have been on the weekend if they were planned, it’s been very reliable. Only in the heaviest of storms does it fade a bit.

I have had Starlink for 3 weeks in NW Montana - it has been pathetically slow 90% of the time. All installation criteria are perfectly met - clear sky etc. I have the ethernet adapter and bypassed the SL internal modem. Still 30 or less download. I have a ticket with SL but as yet no response. Not certain what I will do - maybe sell it.

Hooked. Liked. Subscribed, even if your Starlink year is over. Commenting: SL is the best...unless there's something better. I just got it a week ago, after putting a deposit down a year ago. So I'm in the deliriously happy stage. I haven't encountered the shortcomings you did, but it's only been a damn week. Congrats on being at the right place and time for fiber.

Yeah! I remember when I first got it... only time in my adult life I felt like a kid on Christmas morning! I maybe could have qualified my "complaints" better since overall was more reliable than my old DSL connection which was hard wired into our house... so was an incredible year with starlink.

Starlink will only get better. It is still in it’s infancy. Gen 2 Starlink is a much more powerful system. Let’s not all forget Starlink just came out beta and only Gen 2 is considered retail product.

Upload didn’t change much but its tolerance of obstructions and download speed consistently improved

What would you say your average upload speed was over your ownership period?

The last few times I checked before unplugging it was around 10 up. But I think a good average would be more like 20 up. This is all from memory but will do a speed check once the account is finished transferring to my friend.

Hello, just one remqark for the person who complains about remote school 90 min offline connection. Can you just say if you got starklink WHILE it was in BETA phase or not because this is huge difference. I'm not a starlink fanboy or so but just for like any other service, you have agreements and by taking starlink while in beta phase there were never any official commitment stating the speed or the reliability.... so complaining for it is like acting as someone not reading the contract but well, still good to share the info anyway

So I’m not allowed to talk about downtime? I literally said “Starlink has been great.” Would you have preferred to not have that information? Like I said, I think Starlink’s uptime has been great. It was much better than my previous service.

Starlink doesn't work with Instagram and maybe Facebook... That doesn't even make sense. Unless Instagram is deliberately throttling starlink users to make it look bad... Which wouldn't surprise me, but I doubt.

It works intermittently. Lots of Reddit threads on it.
