For reference, to Filtch something is to steal it!! So the Filtched Falcon is the stolen falcon - likely Coveted Falcon, an artifact bird from the same set!!
That's why most people who are learning English as their second language I usually say are better speakers than people who's first language is English. @@maciekwilkosz6377
Man, that UW control opponent casting Wandering Emperor and then immediately regretting all their life decisions when they realized they couldn't target syr ginger anymore was absolutely hilarious! I've never seen Syr Ginger's first ability actually be relevant before lol
The case makes something better than a 4/4 flyer. It makes a 0/0 with 4 +1/+1 counters. This stacks super well with other cards that makes an artifact into an artifact creature with some base defense/power. Such as Zoetic Glyph or Tezzeret or Yoria Declares War.
i wanna see it with consulate dreadnought. with the right hand, its a turn 3 11/15 with flying that can attack immediately. edit: and the right hand being the case, the vehicle, and any other 1 or 0 mana artifact.
I think you could try to slot "zoetic glyph" in this deck. Its a 3 mana enchantment that makes an artifact a 5/4 and when it leaves the battlefield discovers 3. Might be better than Filtched Falcon in many instances, especially against removal.
I feel pretty big brain. Ive been playing this deck for about a week and a half (I just started playing xD). I used Ice Out for the counterspell because it grows gemdrake and also threw in Captain Storm, Cosmium Raider (+1/+1 on pirates when an artifact ETBs, so playing gemdrake with her on the field procs her twice) and Torch the Witness and Korvald and the Noble Thief for mana/artifacts to use and sack! Also cogwork wrestler because he's coggers
Temur artifacts is best artifacts. You want Night of the Sweets Revenge, Dowsing Device, Goose Mother, Gilded Geardrake, Kellan (adventure w/ Simic colors), Tough Cookie, Syr Ginger, etc, etc. Fill in the gaps however you want but thats the main core pieces. I really like Zoetic Glyph, Case of the Filcher Falcon, Doppelgang, and Candy Trail. It can ramp super hard with Night of the Sweet's Revenge and Goose Mother. Sometimes you can use the generated food (from Goose Mother with NotSR and one red mana) to activate Goose Mother to be 20/10 with haste. Other times Tough Cookie, Dowsing Device, and Zoetic Glyphs end games as fast as mono red. Doppelgang can be the ultimate top end card. Opponent played a Phyrexian Obliterater or Vindicator? Turn it on their face. Now I have 3 Obliteraters, 4 Tough Cookies, and 4 Night of the Sweet Revenges.
Honestly every color offers some pretty good additions to the deck. Black gives you bloodtithe harvester, oni-cult anvil, and braids. White gives you warden of the inner sky, dusk rose reliquary, and thousand-moon smithy.
@@Atmapalazzo Thousand Moon Smithy, Buried in the Garden, any enchantments that exile in white really.. with Doppelgang is insane. I don't think there's an upper end but I have a few screenshots of 10ish 40/40 Gnomes. Alchemy Bant with Dedicated Dollmaker and Three Blind Mice combo.. oh dear lord.. good thing that new green "destroy all enchantments and artifacts" split card came in with MKM.. I haven't found a good way to fight against board wipes in Bant Colors outside of Doppelgang'ing creature lands like Restless Vinestalk. Red for Dowsing Device and things like Urabrasks Forge can be great for sideboard vs control decks (imo, just too damn slow vs mono red or boros convoke). Haven't played much Grixis Artifacts (I don't have the wildcards for the lands tbh.) I can imagine with the creature/artifact sacrifice outlets that black has make it go wild with pings and card draw. For Alchemy Temur: Overcooked, Spiteful Banditry, Relics of the Rubblebelt, and Perilous Iteration are a great adds but it becomes far less creature heavy and more midgame combo esque. Temur colors #1.
Urabrask's Forge is also good against UB and Esper midrange shells, which see plenty of play. UB has no answers to one in play, just discard and counters. Esper Legends will have a couple of Lorans but you have lots of juicy targets to bait one out first.
i love pairing the case of the filched falcon with zoetic glyph. with only 3 mana, you can activate the case on your opponent’s turn making a 4/4 flyer, then zoetic glyph on the same artifact, makes it a 9/8 (since the case makes it a 0/0 with counters), and swing with it right away!
Against the odds idea: invasion of amonket+the ixalan gods. When they die, they return transformed. Meaning, if the backside of amonket turns into those gods, it returns transformed, into the backside of amonket. So you basically get a creature with "when this creature dies, return it to the battlefield tapped" Its insanely jank, but it could maybe work in a sac focused shell. Could instakill with altar of dementia... Anyways, I have neither the brainpower nor the wildcards to make this work. But its a really cool combo I'd like to see in action.
I feel like behind the mask could work great in this as it can allow you to swing for 5 on turn 2 while working as a combat trick or even pump spell late game as it effects base power and toughness, plus it makes a creature immune to cut down and can save you from edicts by creating another creature from your token artifacts, that when sacrificed to the edict will grow your other stuff
@@MTGGoldfish You might argue that Case has a better niche use because of the flying; which is the case when you run 0 artifact creatures with flying. There is a reason why one of them is the backbone of the most popular budget deck in standard for almost half an year now; and the other one can't even beat Unctus's Retrofitter for the spot in said deck, because it's a turn slower.
Would there be any point to sacrificing the Falcon case to turn the schooner into a 7/8 flyer, or is having the 4/4 the better option in almost all situations?
To filtch, a verb, means to steal something, particularly something of low value. The card is a reference to the Maltese Falcon, probably the best known noir film of all time
Okay Seth, to filch something, is to steal something, as has been pointed out by others. However, more importantly, the card is a reference to the classic film noir "The Maltese Falcon" starring Humphrey Bogart. If you like classic detective movies, you should definitely watch it, but otherwise, it's probably not worth the time, but it is worth knowing about, since it is an extremely culturally significant film and you've probably referenced it at some point in your life without even knowing it.
i was hopping to find an interesting izzet deck, i think i found one. demand answers is better that what you think, same raw mana value as a clue for an extra card, is not better thrill of posibilities or even red deadly dispute for nothing, i would seriously recomend it at 3 max. kinda hopping to find an interesting case of the ransaked lab izzet or even grixis deck, currently brewing one with juddith carnage conosseur over moxfield, the spell slinger theme goes perfectly
Hi Seth. NoobTube here. Given that it has already been a couple days since release of this video, I don't know if you will see this, but I will post it anyways. I recently created a new deck that I am trying out in Timeless MTGA. I think you would really enjoy this deck. It has ponza, but it also uses a Grinning Ingus + Birgi combo as a wincon. I find it really fun to play and it wrecks a good portion of the meta, especially Zoo and strangely (because most lists run 2-4 basics), Titan Field. It struggles against Mono-Black and Burn, but you can pull through against Burn. Decklist below. Decklist: 4x Birgi, God of Storytelling (KHM) 4x Blood Moon (WOT) 4x Bloodstained Mire (MH3) 4x Deathrite Shaman (RVR) 3x Delighted Halfling (LTR) 4x Devilish Valet (SNC) 4x Forest (MH3) 4x Gamble (SPG) 3x Gilded Goose (LTC) 4x Grinning Ignus (STX) 4x Impact Tremors (WOT) 3x Llanowar Elves (30A) 4x Mountain (BLB) 4x Stomping Ground 3x Windswept Heath (MH3) 4x Wooded Foothills (MH3) Sideboard (you can build a sideboard if you want to play this in Bo3 which I know you enjoy more) 1x Jegantha, the Wellspring
36:51 couldn't you had blocked the Adversary with the 4/4 off the case? Although, I guess, you would've lived just one more turn, and there were no cards in the deck to help you stabilize against mono red drawing three next turn.
Love this! Little low cost creatures like Gleaming Geardrake are some of my favorite cards in Magic. Question. I don't have much experience in standard, but how much longevity do you think this deck has (not nessecarily at a competitive level, maybe just FNM)? Granted, that's a way out and theres new sets between then and now, but I'm still curious how you think it will do after rotation when it loses Voldaren Epicure and some of its dual lands.
not in this decks colors but a real neato synergy is elvish archivist + case of filched falcon. get the counters and draw a card. it's like a cool party trick. but next thing you know you're getting temporarily lockdown'd on the path to peril before an ill timed explosion brings about the sunfall.
As someone just getting into Arena, rare lands feel like such a scam. Also, super cool deck but the video needs more cat! A clawed cylonic rift is a small price to pay.
The rules on tokens in Magic is a bit weird. Technically when they leave the battlefield they go to the graveyard and then disappear, so they trigger things like Syr Ginger and Gleaming Geardrake.
Seth has some of the best deck ideas, I just wish he could play them properly.. I always leave before the end because of the most painful mistakes -or mispronunciations-
14:20 Missed lethal, if you animate the vehicle by the case effect, you get a 4/4 flyer which can be crew pre-damage to into a 7/8 + 2 damages from the drake = game
It doesn't work like that. Read the gatherer page for filched falcon, crewing a vehicle does not reset its P/T, it remains a 0/0 with 4 +1/+1 counters.
Seth has actively degraded his pronunciation of Axonil. He went from at least saying it phonetically to the absolute enigma that is his understanding of the english language
trying not to pull my hair out listening to seth say "axonil" as "axillon" over and over instead of "ash-o-nil" or "ax-o-nil"... no wonder he didn't realize axonil had trample, he doesn't read the cards very carefully x.x I'll feel kinda bad if he has dyslexia or somethin, but I have dyslexia and I try to read things multiple times so I don't mispronounce names lol *grumble grumble* just... try to do better please.
Second game made me miffed. I can't stand when dumbass opponents take like 2 minutes to make the most braindead obvious plays that have literally no other possible options. It's probably my biggest frustration with this game sometimes. I don't know why so many players have executive function disorders or extensive brain damage.
