Ah, good old first time in Subnautica. Filling inventory with mushrooms, being scared of stalkers and wasting time and resources with the airpipes. We all made those mistakes.
The last two I watched they both kept saying they wished they had some type of light, one of them while they were holding an unlit flare in their hand. I'm excited to see if the flare gets used in this one. I didn't make that specific mistake but I made plenty!
I was bursting in laughter seeing you immediately going to the ship and to your doom😂. You're also one of the few Subnautica players smart enough to use your fire extinguisher as a speed boost
@@abeeinspaceYeah it launches you straight backwards. I once saw somebody panic and yeet themselves out of the way by blasting a Reaper in the face with it.
I absolutely LOVE subnautica, it is my favorite game of all time, it has so many layers and is a beautiful game, I immediately subscribed and am SO excited to watch your raw reaction to everyone. Maybe if you like it as much as I do, you can play the sequel
While some plants can be planted for later harvesting, most of the seeds you're collecting are nothing but clutter in your inventory. (which is limited in the early game) Normally what you want to do is decide what you need, what resources you need to make that, then go out and try to find them. I'd start with trying to make bleach based water. When you can't find what you need, you need to go deeper. Silver and lead are found a little deeper than what you've been going. Look for deep caves in the creepvines. Some of the later game stuff is so deep you need a submarine to get to it. Also, brain corals give off oxygen and let you recharge your air tank underwater. Most fish are also easier to catch at night and bladderfish are much easier to see at night. The good news is that those stalker fish are NOT everywhere. Their normal habitat is the creepvines. The bad news is that they're pretty low level predators compared to what else is out there. lol. They're pretty easy to manage though. Swim toward them and strafe to the side. They can't turn very sharp. Also, you swim faster with your hands empty. I think it's B to put away your current tool. To use an air pump, just put your face close to the end of the pipe and you'll start to take on air. To use brain coral, just hover above it and wait for the bubbles. Don't push any buttons for either. Good job in figuring out how to use a spare air tank at 39:33, but don't forget you need to swap it again on the surface to refill it for later. The green bar graph on the side of stuff in inventory indicates charge level or freshness for food. If you want to do a deep excursion, make a bunch of spare tanks and put them in your inventory. If you find good loot, you can always drop the empties since they're pretty cheap to make. Also, when you say it's dark and you need a flashlight, what you really mean is that you need light. Don't forget that you had flares in the beginning and can make more with cave sulfer. (You can usually outswim the crashfish in a straight line and take almost no damage so cave sulfer is pretty easy to get. Some hostile fish are attracted to light, so flares can be handy even after you get a flashlight. I love watching new people play Subnautica. It's such an awesome game.
While hiding in the pod is probably the most sensible reaction to a warning of a “quantum detonation”, you missed a very pretty Aurora explosion animation. I suggest searching for a video. 👍 Very entertaining playthrough so far, I hope you complete it!
Tipp: You swim faster with empty hands. Tipp 2: Swim under water, not above sea level. The number 1 rule of Subnautica: Scan everything, read all entries in the PDA's databank.
@@MusaM8 But you see nothing and miss everything of interest. Besides - that only applies anyway until you get the seaglide - as soon as you have the seaglide you swim a lot faster under water because the seaglide stops functioning at the surface.
0:11 - *“One thing you should know about me: I'm terrified of the ocean.”* Ah, but then why play _Subnautica?_ This is the game for people who _don't_ have Thalassophobia but would like to _become_ terrified of the water. That's what it's good at. If you bring your _own_ fear of the ocean, that's like going to a restaurant when you're already completely full. 😉
Ohh, Subnautica is one of the most interesting, immersive games that I know. The atmosphere and ambiance is just so well done, and the soundtrack compliments each biome as well. The soundscape of what you hear is probably the most contributing factor to the whole experience. And then a story, that I cannot say anything about, because the story completely lives from experiencing it blind without knowing. Have fun! Subnautica is not just "that underwater big fish game". There's a lot more to find it once you start exploring and advancing the story and listening to the voice logs that you find.
Really enjoyed this first ep. My advice: Scan -everything- Read -everything-. Think like an anthropologist/detective/explorer. The game rewards curiosity and bravery. Good Luck!
Thank you SO much for the advice, I definitely made some progress in the next episode after realising I needed to be scanning more things! Loving the game so far
There's a bug in the game if you attack Stalkers and damage them, they will swim towards the origin of the map, which usually is very close to your life pod. Only way to "fix" the issue is to kill the Stalkers.
Ah! I loved my time in Subnautica. Watching someone else trying to figure it out all over again is very fun to watch. The fact that you held onto the explosive fish almost cause me to spit out of drink.
There is a trick with the Stalkers you might notice if you can observe them for a while. Give them some metal scraps and it will keep them occupied for a while.
That was a great start and I'm looking forward to watching your continued adventure! I had to confront my own fears to make it through Subnautica (which is totally worth it), so here's some spoiler free advice that helped me. Despite what it may look like, most of the creatures are not out to get you. Scan everything you can and read the PDA entries; often there are hints about about a creature's behaviour that will let you avoid confrontation. Also you are completely safe from external threats in your lifepod and any other base you construct. I built lots of tiny bases around the map so that i could easily duck in, calm down, and remind myself it's just a game.
hahah loved this! you really had me going at 39:30 when you were 0 seconds away from no oxygen and then went 'hang on, i have this' and restored it underwater haah
Subnautica: I tell you nothing! But you can READ READ READ PDA. Then collect and find things to try and make something. Then use that to improve and make something new. Then you use that something new to go Deeper and Deeper until you Go up instead!
Gotta say, I appreciate the effort to avoid profanity. I know that different cultures and sub-cultures have different views on it and have different trends in what is normal. As someone who prefers less profanity, thanks. Anyway, I love a blind playthrough of Subnautica. Have fun!
Have you encountered the ghost levitation yet I get completely by accident, I went into the echo dead zone next thing I know my sea moth got knocked out of the water I was in there deep so I was really hit hard the hull was at 13% when I came to
Sometimes I click on these videos just to see how long it takes the player to realise that putting away your active equipment allows you to swim faster, because we've all tried swimming with a drink in our hand at some point... but at least you didn't walk straight into the fire in the lifepod, seen a few people do that.
Just saw this on my RU-vid homepage :) Subnautica is probably in my top 3 of my favorite games of all time. Its ambience, story and music are amazing! I'm intrigued to see how you'll manage with your fear of the ocean. So if you need any tips, I'm here for the ride! :D
the ocean freaks me out which is ironic considering i live on the coast of australia but the more you play, the more comfortable and used certain areas you get. best of luck with this!
You’re doing pretty swell job catching on. Don’t worry too much about those stalkers they’re such goobers! Keep an eye out for debris from this ship. They can have parts of equipment you can scan to unlock the blueprints to craft them, like the seaglide or submarine. If you’re looking for silver, keep an eye out for sandstone outcrops. They’re found in the kelp forest and red grassy plateaus nearby! Cheers
That was a shit ton of gasopods in 1 location. 7-8 near the pod i never seen more then 3 maybe 4 and they werent even that close to the pod to begin with.
A player with Thalassophobia is playing "Subnautica"? Consider this game to be a long therapy session as you explore the Safe Shallows. Note: More Thalssophobes have "gotten Alterra's bill" than any other kind of player. Explore, make basic tools, read your PDA and Scan Everything.
Thank you for the tips! I felt like I couldn't think straight because of how high my anxiety was so I have been struggling to wrap my head around the game mechanics but I think I am finally beginning to understand everything a little more now :D
I hope you end up doing a full playthrough, this is my favorite game and my first time watching you play but I LOVE seeing people play it for the first time, definitely subscribing!
youtube recommended part 4 of this series to me, decided to start with part one instead. i've seen sooo many people play this, stoked to see your experience too :)
I mean... come on, the tablet literally tells you to refer to the database for your first steps. Given, new game and hectic finding out the controls... but very few streamers who played or are playing subnautica follow the pretty much planned out "start sequence". So did (or didn't) i. Don't really know how i survived my first ever playthrough 😁 Oh, and sleeping is simple... Just build a base with a bed in it 😋
such a small advice. 1. swim with empty hands or use a sea glider (you swim faster) 2. don't collect anything you can't use 3. when you stream a video, reduce your image to the minimum possible and place it in the upper left corner where it does not interfere with anything 4. if you are not sure, ask for advice
