Dammit Rob I've been subbed to your main channel for a while and now you've got me into wanting some cards myself. I thought I kicked the cars habit having gotten rid of my MTG collection, but here we are...ya got me.
Got 3 boxes when they first came out. Couple Raymond, Seider and a YG Clearcut of that goalie.. after all was said and done I paid $240 USD and made about double that. Early Seider was selling for 150+ usd. Dropped below 100 immediately after mine sold.
There's a major assumption you've made. I send about 80-100 cards to PSA each month and the graded total you calculated has lots of variables. The biggest oversight is that not every card is a 10, from my experience with 21-22 S2 (even though I'm sending only cards that look gem mint) the hit rate on a PSA 10 is about 40%. The cost to grade is $30 CAD per card on the slowest return time, you had about 30 cards worth grading so that $600 in expenses. Out of the 20, most likely you are going to get 8 10s back, and assume the rest are 9s (typically similar resale value as a raw for modern). So going by that logic after grading the cards would be worth around 40% at 3040 and the 60% at 1540 giving you a net card value of 2140-1540 your cards were originally worth and you're at 600 profit. 600 you spent on grading so you're at net zero. Grading isn't some magical money maker, and it's a terrible decision to send card you pulled yourself because being pack fresh doesn't mean it's a 10. If you look at 2020-21 Series 1 card almost 70% of them have damaged corners out of the box. The only way to make money from grading is to pick sets that don't have coloured edges or major centering outlines as those can bring you down to a 9 on an otherwise good card. Then you need to select which cards have high hit rates on PSA 10s, a good multiplier on resale value, but yet still a low pop of the card graded. Then you find those cards you selected as a good fit on eBay or local card shows, asses corners/edges (typically easiest) and centering to the best of your ability. Here's a good example, a PSA 10 caufield sells for 5x the price of a raw. Intriguing right? Well only 30% of the cards submitted are getting a 10, whereas with a Brady Tkachuk YG that also gets 5x the price of a raw has a 66% hit rate. Even though both cards sell for 5x the price of a raw you'll get more than double the 10s when submitting Brady Tkachuk vs a Cole Caufield.

Great idea for a video! Very informative for people wondering if they want to try and make a buck buying cards. I have a case of 2022-23 series 1 coming and now I’m even more excited.

@@KMAN_CORNER The comment is fake lol, for attention. Anyone with a Matthews FWA knows what they have. The cheapest that card has been raw is around $800 long before the COVID boom, even if someone bought at the lowest point they paid a considerable amount. If they opened a box, 16-17 SPA at its cheapest 4 years was around $300, anyone spending that amount on a hobby box, especially before covid, knew what they were chasing. And for the "maybe someone pulled it in a box they got as a gift", Matthews FWA were not in boxes, they were redemptions, so if you pulled one, you had to redeem it, I don't think you'd be redeeming a card and have no clue what it is.
Yeah very optimistic pricing :D Mason McTavish graded as a PSA 9 goes for $36 CAD, and that's after the $15USD Grading fee, and then also shipping. For pricing filter on Sold Items on Ebay is best bet for it.
You messed up on the math. it's (72/50) so the probability is 1.44. Anything over 1 is guaranteed in probability. You have a 100% chance at one, and a 44% chance at another one.

Your video title is kind of misleading (maybe you want it to be that way by leaving out some punctuations) as you spent $1500 on a case, not a box. Btw, there's 288 packs in that case, not 284. Just saying...
