She leans in and whispers "I think the Selfridge's one is winning." Like she doesn't want the other boxes to hear her. 😂 You are so entertaining! Job well done!
It’s wrong to use the word ‘she’ when you use pronouns such as he and she during the conversation or comment which that person is present in, it makes them feel that the conversation is about them, not with them. It really makes an uncomfortable situation for them. Basically it’s rude! I’ve not seen anyone comment this way before but it’s insulting.
Thank you , I'm old enough to be your mother , Im 58 , This truly brought me joy to watch you unbox these so luxurious advent calendars, We lost our youngest child & Only Daughter April ann at age 19 yrs old , Id give anything to spoil her again . God bless you , 🙏 I enjoyed watching & learning about so many high end products, you are a beautiful young lady . Thank you & enjoy every moment of the upcoming holidays. Mrs josette Tharp Montgomery County, Texas 🙏 ♥️
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad suddenly 11 years ago. Christmas was one of his favorite times a year and he loved to spoil my siblings and I. We knew we were lucky and appreciated everything we got. I remember the magic I used to feel when I was a kid and even through college. He is very much missed by me. My mom lives 5 minutes down the street and doesn't care if she ever talks to me or sees me. I hope you have Happy Holidays!
Cheap af over here that’s why. There is a video on RU-vid called opening a USA vs UK art advent calendar. Same story different subject. I’m sure it will be the same across the board no matter what the subject.
its def a thing here in the UK, and the luxury ones are a v competitive market. Our Sephora generally tho is so far pretty poor! Not all the brands we were expecting, no VIB etc sales, no decent samples and any discount codes exclude most of the good/popular brands (sigh)!!
Great video, I live in the UK & each year its a difficult decision which calendar to treat myself to. This year I bought the John Lewis one. So looking forward to opening it in December. 😊
idk about other european countries but here in germany advent calenders are a looong tradition. except when i was a tiny little child i got a chocolate one and now its a little more fancy with makeup brands and all kinds of companies wanting in on it (This year i got one from a local beekeeper with all different flavours of honey!). Some children did get handmade ones with different toys and treats and stationary everyday but my parents both worked full time so it wasnt their priority which i understand. but yeah lots of people make and fill them with 24 surprises for their child, partner, friend etc.
In America, we were used to the advent calendar our parents give that has the little piece of crappy chocolate, and you know it's crappy but you're excited every day to open it.
@swingdancinglolz years ago, Target had an advent calendar of holiday socks, and I begged my dad to get it, and he looked at me and said, "Hell no, I'm not spending $55 on socks when I can pick you out a pack of 24 for $15.99."
Haha! YES! Those cheesy chocolate filled advent calendars they got from some school fund raiser I think? So, you kinda knew you’d get one bc you had to talk your mom into buying it.. it was for a good cause! Lmao! I always had to beg bc my mom would say she’d just get me some good chocolate bars! I wanted that dang calendar tho!
Conserving beauty (from the cult beauty advent calendar) is actually a sustainable Australian brand and they got a really cool concept where all of their products aren't made with water at all hence conserving beauty
I'm in the UK and there are so many high end calendars... There's a fantastic YT channel called Planning with Crystal and she basically buys them all and does really detailed previews... It's dangerous though, I wasn't going to get one this year but ended up buying the Space NK calendar after watching her video 😅 Love seeing an American's reaction to the European stuff xx
I’m in the US and I love her channel. She unboxes ALL of them. Another channel that does is Miss Boux. Both are great at describing everything. The UK really does know how to do these calendars. (I got the Liberty London one and love it).
Every other year I get the advent calendar from either Liberty or Cult and they're always worth it - I spend a LOT of time comparing contents and looking at what I have and making decisions and that's part of the whole thing (alternate years I get a chocolate one). Opening a drawer with a little present to myself every day is so much fun, especially since December here (NL) is so dark and gloomy. Edited to add: this year I went for Cult and have no regrets except that it's so long until December 1.
I do this too…spending a lot of time going over the products vs cost vs shipping and I got the Liberty AC. I love it! It’s beautiful and so well made and the goodies inside are top notch. I look forward to a little present each day.
Welcome to the world of British advent calendars! You’ll start to recognize the high end European brands, and the fillers, very quickly. 😂 It is also really interesting to see what’s popular oversees (I’m Canadian).
Omg After just watching the Ulta vs Sephora video before this one, I laughed SO hard when you pulled out that shitty little mirror to actually use it!! That was perfect! lmao 👏🏻👏🏻💜✨💙✨
I feel like I want to throw a Ladies’ Christmas Party with one of these boxes and do an elephant gift exchange type thing. Everyone gets an assigned number, which is their drawer. Then we open and steal! Think about it - 24 drawers. If you split the cost 24 ways that’s like $10-15/person depending on the box!
Do we have a new advent queen in the mix?!Alexandria Ryans advent season is fun but its a whole new experience with Lauren who is much more knowledgeable about the actual products.
That was amazing! The Cult Beauty had the most stuff I would want to get. Very exciting. I've watched other channels that do British boxes and yes, they are so much better than U.S. boxes. I watched your Ulta and Sephora box unboxing and the Sephora was such total crap! They should be ashamed of themselves for that one. Love British advent calendars so much!
An Advent calendar is always the one gift I get for myself every year. I never know which one to choose so this is helpful! ETA I went with Cult Beauty last year and it was pretty decent.. already seeing some semi-repeats.
@@redss111 Charlotte Tilbury? She has one with fewer days and I’m actually thinking about getting it because there are several specific things in there I’ve wanted to try this year. But the one with the Lisa Eldridge lipstick is temping me because I have yet to try anything from her.
The Selfridges was my favorite by far, and I’m glad because it’s the one I splurged on and decided to buy for myself a few weeks ago lol, but Cult Beauty is a close second for me
I'd probably put the Liberty one last, as perfume preferences are so personal. Body chemistry differs so greatly from individual to individual. Being perfume heavy can drastically drop value if you only like one or two of the perfumes. Skin, hair care and makeup can stretch across more skin tones and types. Not that I can afford any of these though 😆
I’m so glad to see you getting into the advent calendars ❤ Every year I watch Alexandria Ryan unbox 10-25 of them. These are the best I’ve seen in a long time! I bought a look fantastic advent a few years back but the cult beauty one and self ridges ones are really tempting this year!! 😍
@@WillSing4TP it definitely was. I saw they had Christmas crackers with different products and prices too, but didn't get them. I got their beauty egg at Easter for my sister too. They have some great products. 😊
I’m only into the first calendar and these products are just so lovely. Maybe one day I can afford to treat myself to one, but for now I’ll watch Lauren.
I never believed that suggested value of $1300.😂 I've had several small samples of Dr. Sturm products, but I have no idea if they are any good. Also, I hear that the Harrods Advent calendar is really nice. Keep that Luna oil and use it. I think your thoughts on face oil will change. ❤
I use nothing but Dr. Sturm. One, my super sensitive skin can tolerate her products with no trouble, and her calming serum is better and works faster than the steroids the dermatologist prescribed for an allergic reaction. So, there is that. Number two, wow, her products are super effective! The buffered Vit. C and her other acid serums are very gentle and yet work very effectively against fine lines and dark spots, etc. Yes, the brand is super expensive. But I have used La Mer, Guerlain's Orchidee Imperiale, and Sisley and all have worked a little for a while, then blew my face up. So I think Dr. Sturm is well worth the money.
i'm from brazil and we don't have the culture of beauty advent calendars BUT OH GIRL I'M HERE FOR THE 1 HOUR LONG VIDEO, thank you very much (also, this video could've had 10 hours longs and i'll still watch it with a smile on my face)
I live in the uk and I'm legit thinking about buying that Selfridge's one because of this video. I'm really surprised how hit and miss the liberty one is but it almost feels like you're money is going on the packaging and the perfumes. Not bad really if you live perfumes like you do (i do too so i get it - and incidentally, halfeti, in the Selfridge's box, is one of my all time favourites) but it means some of the other days a bit disappointing. But the Selfridge's one was just hit after hit. This was really fun to watch you open these!
Girl your energy in this video was delightful - I really enjoyed this so much and can't wait to see what you open next!:)) PS: Liberty did it for me on their packaging alone!
Ok…I have Cult Beauty coming today, and Selfridges coming tomorrow, both of which I would NEVER have thought of to buy an advent calendar from until this video popped up on my feed, so thank you for that! ❤. My question is, how in holy heck am I going to stop myself from opening them until December?!?! 😂
sephora employee here and i LOVE the calming serum from barbara sturm, for me it’s 100% worth the price. you don’t use a lot so the ounce does go a long way and it’s just such a nice formula. and it’s great for me after shaving or if my skin is just ~going through it~
The UK has great value beauty calendars. I think brands see the value of exposure to new customers. They are getting massive though and so many companies competing in the market. For me the Selfridges is the most attractive to me
The cult calendar was pretty fun! So many products. Wow. You can use facial oil for body or bath. Oils can be used however you want regardless of the title
Even though I can’t afford these, and I don’t feel like this would be my kind of thing even if I did, it was still fun watching you open up these luxury advent calendars. It’s nice to see well crafted advent calendars, and it was like I got to be there with you which gave the little kid in me some serotonin. 😊
Just discovered you Lauren, these calendars are so good. I’m not a huge makeup person but I do love watching the opening of these online. I will be getting one of these for my kid next year.
The US department store calendars are so disappointing, I wouldn't bother. Hopefully, they'll learn. I alternate between SpaceNK, and Liberty. I've had Selfridges the last 3 years. Because I have 3 daughters I'm refilling last years Selfridges calendar with items I've picked up all year for an extra calendar this year. We alternate days.
I don’t think you can compare liberty to the the other two really without either being from the uk or having visited the liberty London store. Cult is more mainstream online beauty and self ridges although being a high end department store is still a lot more commercial and “trendy”. Liberty London is like quintessentially British. The store gives you the same feel stepping into it as the advent calendar box design. Its old and wooden and is feels a bit more luxurious rather than just expensive if that makes any sense at all. It stocks quite quite a few obscure brands and that’s reflected in the calendar. Realistically I’d probably use the contents of the others two more. But liberty is more boujee 😂
Living vicariously through you, Lauren! 😂 These are absolutely beautiful! There have been so many new holiday releases and my wallet is not happy so I’m trying to low buy until Black Friday sales. I will say the European advent calendars are definitely more artistic and beautiful than many of the US ones I’ve seen so far. Thanks for all you do! ❤
I hope you love the Lisa Eldridge Kitten Mischief lipstick. It's one of my most used, and the perfect color for almost any look. This was so fun to watch. Thanks for paying for all of these. Makes me want to order an Advent Calendar.
Sunday rileys good genes is the greatest skincare product on the planet. I got hooked on a tiny little sample in a foil packet several years ago. Instant results. Been a permanent fixture in my routine since. Very pricy but so so so so worth it. Holy grail. Will never be without. I have gotten so many people hooked on it too lmao. I was almost excited as you were when i saw the top as you removed it lmfao
Hair oils are great to use as a mask! Just soak your hair with it, put it up in a gentle pony or bun, waste some time (clean your house, do some laundry, take a walk, whatever), then take a shower & wash it out. It always makes my hair a little less frizzy & dead-looking. Just an idea to help you use up all of those hair oils! 💁🏻♀️
I’m getting joy watching you get joy you are so adorable! I would lose my mind in pure happiness opening any one of those beautiful calendars!!! Love it 😍
OMG Thank You Lauren for spending on these advent calendars and sharing with us. I’ve never seen such an amazing unboxing video. Such a treat to watch!! 🫠
I soooooo enjoyed this video, love your personality!!! I ordered the Harrods Advent Calendar and I love it. I will be getting my advent calendars from the UK from now on, more bang for your buck
@Marycatherinelovescats she is unboxing the Space NK and I'm looking forward to her unboxing. Just like here , Forsure I will be purchasing from UK next year ,
This was an adventure and I loved your enthusiasm and excitement. I fell over laughing about the Larry King hair product. I’m sure this one is a British hair care guy because America’s Larry King had awful old man hair! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The luxury was amazing, especially the Selfridge one!
I love these advent calendars! I know nothing about higher end brands, but I am eyeing that first kit already! Thanks for sharing with us!!! And, I would love to see you review perfume advent calendars! I love learning about perfumes.
i love living vicariously through others as i just get 1 advent calendar every year and its for chocolate or tiny figurines or lego. ngl though that house one was gorgeous and i would say keep that and refill it with things next year for yourself like candy or chocolate for the advent. :) as that packaging was amazing.
Yes ALL THE ADVENTS! My UK friends always get them and even the supermarket ones are freaking amazing! I’m wanting the a Dior one so badly and ooh I’d love to see a perfume one! This is so fun , fun from afar. I spent way too much on all things Halloween!
I live for my Bader skincare. I use The Cream as moisturizer and The Rich Cream as eye/dry area cream and I look like an actual child. Like ppl tell my husband (we are 44/45) that his wife is much too young for him..and he looks great himself! 🙌🏼
This year is the first one I ever splurge and buy a cosmetics advent calendar, got the Cult Beauty one after hesitating sooo much but I think it was worth it
LITERALLY thank you so much right now! Just perfect timing, I needed some chatty LMB to help motivate me through my chores lol. You’re so beautiful and I enjoy every one of your videos. I’m really looking forward to watching this :)
Love this video! I’m from the UK and I’ve bought the Cult Beauty one every year since they started it and they’re sooo good. This year I got Selfridges too! If you do this next year you have to get the Space NK one - they’re just as luxury and amazing and they have so many cool brands.
Pleaseeee get either one of the lush advent calendars!!! I just got the Christmas buds one and I love your honesty and bluntness it makes your react to the items so much better!
some countries celebrate Christmas on the 25th! Uk&Ireland being one of them - on the 24th, you have a nice dinner and all, watch movies, on the 25th, you open all your presents in the morning and fall into a food coma.
Penhaligon had two Royal Warrants, which means they blend fragrances for Prince Philip and King Charles III. Princess Diana's favourite was "Bluebell."
I love how you describe fragrances! With everything you tried, I felt like I knew how it would smell and that is so valuable - thank you! Side note: the first time I smelled Halfeti, I lowkey hated it, but it was absolutely a gateway to a brand that is so friggen expensive but sooooo full of amazing smells
Came here by way of Kackie’s channel and so happy I did! I loved watching you unbox these. Please do more! Also I can imagine my little girl would go bananas over the boxes when I was done lol.
Thoroughly enjoying this video but I'm so sad you had no love for the liberty button mirror 😂 I thought it was so cute, with the illustration, the little pouch and everything. I have a Hello Kitty mirror that's the same size; ngl it makes me feel like a cool girl when I use it lol. It's so handy to just chuck in a small cross-body bag. Blaming that teeny Sephora one for your bad impression of these mirrors 😂 I swear they're more practical and sturdy than they look!
Oh I loved this post! It was fun, exciting, informative! Thank Goodness I have shelves of skin care I haven’t used or I would have wanted the 1st & 3ed box! I bet they get a lot of $$sales$$ from your enthusiasm!
Oh man, this was the best!! I’m recovering from what feels like THE PLAGUE! and I needed this!!! I got an Augustinian Bader full size in Influenster and holy crap!!! So expensive and you can bet I’m going to use and enjoy every last drop! Enjoy your goodies, Lauren! ❤
I’ve been buying these three for years. I save and this is my Christmas present to myself. I love love Europes Advent calendars. I don’t even both with US ones anymore
I buy a lot of advent calendars because I stock up on my year of goodies in one big hit! Have used a few Barbara Sturm products now and have to say.... I don't get it. 👀 The Ordinary has a great hyaluronic acid for $15AUD, and I don't rate the lift serum, Vit C serum or glow drops. Her aloe gel is lovely but is a $100 aloe vera gel... I mean, REALLY?? I use the plant. The free plant in my yard. Mix it in with some niacinamide serum and bam: you've got a luxury aloe gel 😉
I wish advent calendars did more color cosmetics and then just had 2-3 different boxes 🤷 doesn't have to be foundation or something but blush, lip products, brows. Come onnnn lol
The OI shampoo brand from the Liberty calendar is from Davines (pronounced Dove-e-nes). It’s a family owned Italian company from around Bologna that if I recall correctly focuses a lot of sustainability and regenerative agriculture for their materials. I think they have good products but I haven’t found one for my hair type. Also, I don’t really love their very basic scents, I like something less herby in a way. But I recommend trying them and supporting them ❤️
I just love you, Lauren! I had to say that! You’re just the cutest, sweetest thing ever! It really does make my day watching your content. I wish I had a friend like you. ❤
Your excitement came through the camera🎉❤😂 I won't buy any but I don't need to now. I got to open them with you, that's how infectious your joy was! Thank you❤
Can’t believe I’ve watched the whole video, Albeit at 1.5X speed. It was very entertaining. ( don’t have much attention or patience to watch long videos, but this was fun). All 3 are great AC, I think I’d choose Liberty or Selfridges. Liberty has a subscription saving offer, where you pay £20 or maybe £25 each months to save, you get a beauty box every quarter, if I remember correctly and then can spend your saved money on any beauty products, which could be your AC at Christmas. I might do that next year myself.
Good genes is the one high end non prescription product I’ve used that I keep paying that crazy price for. Most everything else I use k beauty and or RX tretinoin.
