I don't know if you solved traing your chickens but this may work for you, if not. Try to pick a time that you can stick to everyday in the evening and feed your chickens at that same time everyday, inside their enclosure. Eventually they will know the time for feeding and gi the enclosure. Hope that helps. Happy farming 🙂

We put our chickens in the run at 4:00 pm to keep the wild life away. I call them in with treats. They free range from 5:00am - 4:00pm. They go into the coop at dusk.

I just call my chickies with some treats around 4pm! My neighborhood fox usually wakes up around 5pm!

So happy you are back to making videos. My soil is healthy due directly to the things I have learned from you. When I need to entice my chickens into the coop early, I entice them with treats. Primarily canned corn. I drop a few kernels as I walk them to the coop and then toss a handful in and shut the door behind the ladies. My dog had a two month chronic ear infection that responded to and finally cleared with a prescription antiseptic liquid called VertraSeb TRIS ear flush. It is 0.1% ketoconazole and 0.01% phytosphingosine HCI. She gets a dose before/after a bath, or contact with water. She’s never had another infection with this easy regime.

It’s interesting you put a straw mulch down …we get so many slugs I need to remove all weeds , dead matter etc as it becomes a slug hiding place 🥴🥴 Beautiful flowers ❤❤❤

Hi! My chickens come out in the morning, but I call them back in at about 3.30/4pm with some corn (they only get corn in the evening, so they come running for it. But if tge Fox knows where the birds are you might want to keep them in for a while as he will be back until he's had them all! Also just a heads up I had straw down as a mulch around my dahlias, too. But I've had to remove it as it was harbouring the slugs! And they were decimating them.

Hi Sarah! Thank you for showing the compost process -- very interesting. I never had a dog with ear infection but have heard that adjusting the diet can help? It helped my arthritic Aussie dog with his flare-ups. Also seems like your fox might help with your rabbit problem if you can protect the chickens. Glad you are sounding less discouraged lately 😊❤

One problem you may find with using straw as mulch, makes great hiding places for slugs and snails 🐌

Praying for a quick recovery for your pupster...a neighbor just trapped a fox in our area - they can really wreak havoc when they set up shop. But glad to see you making bouquets (beautiful - glad you sold out)...I've enjoyed watching common flower farm who pulls material from shrubs and trees when the flower beds aren't always cooperating - love that idea, and makes just as beautiful bouquets and arrangements

I love your compost setup. im just a home gardener. Even i can use that wire cage set up. Also just wanted to say that I watched the birds sit on top of my fence and swoop in to eat the bad bugs on my strawflower. So I now make sure to have lots of posts whether I need them or not. They make great perches for birds and, where I am, little lizards that eat a lot of bugs.

Invest in a swan. You could do a goose, but a goose would be more of an alarm. Otherwise training is going to be your best bet if you want a non-lethal solution. I'd suggest trap/release... But if it is a mother fox, you may inadvertently impact her kits.

I'm so pleaed you are more upbeat and ready to go after an awful winter. I have lost a lot of seedlings of both flowers and veg this spring, so I'm making (hopefully better) plans for next year. Great to see you back.

Hopefully your dahlias will make some nice tubers you can lift in November so you won’t have to spend all that dosh next year. Watch out for earwigs! They love dahlias and will munch holes in the leaves. Sounds like you need to get out the shotgun for the fox, but not for the earwigs, you can make traps for them.

@@bloomandgray I love the look of it!! Was it just regular asparagus or the fern type? I'm sure I've seen the climbing variety in other international flower vlogs but wasn't sure if it would grow outside in the uk temps x

Someone!! I suspect a pine martin or mink 🤷‍♀️ took at least one of my chickens in the last 12 hours!! My girls free range across 3 fields, ours and the ones either side of us (sometime leaving a gift in the barn next door 😏) I don’t want them locked up, I want them to have the freedom to go where they want, although I am not happy that someone is using our girls as food, I appreciate that they are part of the food chain and everyone has a place in this world, this is the deal I have made with the devil!! I hope your wee dog makes a recovery, it’s a worry when they are not well Love that you are back making videos, I have missed you, looking forward to seeing more

Happy to see you making real progress again. Can't wait to see which dahlias you have chosen and how they will grow. Chooks will be vulnerable night and day now one has been taken unfortunately. 🐓 Has Rob seen the latest from the 'Bowler hat farmer' or yesterday's interview by 'Richard Vobes ' both of which are highlighting the recent weather patterns and how farmers and growers are being affected. Have a great holiday....
