NEW SERIES!
So I became a Director of Football in FM as opposed to a manager. In today's video, I show you what I've been up to over the Summer. And yeah, in true Clayts style, I've not been able to resist spending an absolute shed load of money. Some player sales and a load of transfers in... some of these signings look pretty special! We finish up by watching our opening game of the season and having a little bit of a chat. Enjoy!

@@TheFatihyet WTS is so far in the future it takes much longer to scout and find players. In a save like this which is only a few years in the future, it wouldn't be so difficult.

As a spurs fan, my priority is always to have harry kane retire at the club especially as we start winning the league etc... In the game, especially with the ai managers, it might be smarter to sell him though. I would say it's about whether you want to respect his potential irl legacy or if you want to be cutthroat and prioritize results meta and the new generation of sts. I've seen my ai manager play kane at lw that's how much the ai will force him into the lineup once there are other sts which is crazy.

Wooah loved the episode and the signings . I probably would have sold but tbh if he stays 3rd striker I think it could be a smart move keeping him. Thank you for making the episode longer. You could show us more matches and not only focus so much on transfer markets, those are the moments were we jump of the sofa haha

I would take into consideration where Harry Kane is in the Team Dynamics. On the pitch, money-wise, it makes sense, but you don't want to fracture the locker room by selling him.

Nice one Clayts. I think definitely sell Kane, you play one striker, three top class ones is far too many, plus all the youth coming through. Midfield maybe looks a little light, I’d keep Mac Allister, you don’t won’t Harvey White having to play in cup finals again. And then maybe get rid of one or two more fringe players and you’re good to go. Also, just fyi, Oostende is pronounced Ostend (with a short o). Keep up the good work!

I've also started a game as the Director of Footbal at Ajaxl. It's really fun. I'm currently in the winter transfer window of the first season. When you delegate all the stuff that isn't part of your job description then it's really great.

This save inspired me to do a Brighton version. Currently 4th season in, just won UEL and finished 5th. Marcel Bout is my assistant. UCL pull convinced Bellingham to join for 90mil. I signed Abada for 10mil and sold him for 100mil, which bank rolled Jude. Hoping for a top 4 finish this season and to make it out of the group stage in UCL

I don't know if you can do this in your save, but you could train kane as a mezzala. I did this on my save and he was brilliant. With his great finishing and passing, OK vision and 10 tackling, he does really well especially later in his career.

The best thing you can do is to sign loads of players with small initial outlay and paid the majority in installments for as long as possible. That way your able to snap up as much talent as possible. You will find yourself in a position where the club goes into serious debt. As all the payments will create a serious loss every month. In the second season I got the club into 200/300 mill debt for spurs. The point will come where for a season you can't make any transfers as no budget will be made available. Then the club will go into administration when you can't afford the wages. Then the club will go into a voluntary Arrangement similarly to a bankruptcy. The great thing is that all of the club's 1.5 billion debt for the stadium gets whipped off and an agreement of £200/300 mill of debt has to be paid off over a new agreement over 50 years which is minor. The next season the club was 500 million in the black with a transfer budget of £120 mill. Plus you've got all of the talents developing and can go back and buy new players.

I would leave Kane or Sesko as first choice for first few 4 - 5 games to give Osimhen time to settle and see how he performs from the bench before making him a starter.

Selling Kane would be insanity, if you ask me. He's still world class, and he'll still be world class for years to come with 16 natural fitness in this edition of the game, and he's the only top class homegrown player in the squad. Devine and Edwards are fine backups, but if they're regularly playing in the Champions League because someone is injured and you don't have a full size squad registered, you're in serious trouble.

It's easy to think if you were playing as a manager, you would never sell Kane, due to his club legend status influence and leadership - however, you would be able phase him slowly out of the team. As a DoF, it's not so straightforward - whether lowering his status below Osimhen, as I see you've done, would mean he appears less often remains to be seen

You can not keep Kane with the amount of depth you carry, it will only unsettle the players. Kane’s value will decline if he doesn’t play as well. If you can sell him, sell to a club outside of the prem at max value (PSG or Madrid). You’ve already got Sesko and Osihmen. Gonna be difficult for all the other strikers to fit in unless the system changes again

Personally. I’d sell Kane and I understand how you don’t want to sell a legend for peanuts but I think he’s just going to starve Sesko of playing time. Unless somehow he could play in a midfield role. What a stacked team btw! How good is Porro? Is that an area you could upgrade. Next summer bring us Mbappe or Haaland

What exactly is the point of waiting for Kane's contract to expire? While hoping he is 3rd striker at best so he doesn't steal minutes from others. Just so you can say you haven't sold him? 😅 I'd easily sell even for 30 mil (plus wages saved) in such a situation.

If you can get between 50-70 mill for Harry kane then it's a no grainer. 8 goals last season, if he does in and around the same this season you'll regret not selling. A good goal scorer who is gonna get you 20+ goals this season, could be the difference between getting a champions league spot or europa.

Why doesn't Kane perform well in FM though? It has now become a meme that he never performs in FM. I personally am having a great second season with him after a mediocre first season. He's currently PL's top scorer, but we all know Haaland is inevitable.

Update: Won the league + FA Cup double with Kane winning the PL's golden boot (34 goals) and both player of the year's. I play him as the lone CF(A) in a lopsided 3-4-3.

Great series, its a really enjoyable watch and i look forward to watching. I think the series needs to move along a lot faster with many more games watched per episode. Eventually people will lose interest if its all mostly talking. No way it should be just 1 game for 39 minutes

Sell Kane. The AI playing him as a DLF neuters his attacking output and doesn't suit your system. Your team is scoring way less goals than it should be, this is one of the last season's you can cash in on him and he makes your team worse. Easiest sell in the world
