In this video I spent 5 days building a massive snow cave in my back yard. It took a ton of work to remove all the snow from the inside of this quinzee type shelter. I learned a few things along the way and had a lot of fun during this build. The weather was very cold ranging from 7'F to -27'F. The cold really helped the snow setup and it turned super hard and was super stable. While I was digging it out I kept thinking a different things that could be added to the complete snow cave. It turned out better than I had ever planned. I hope you enjoy this build and thanks for watching and supporting the channel! Ill see you in the next one.

This is very cool. My brother and I did something like this after a blizzard in the late 70's. After the street in front of our house was plowed and driveways cleared, there was 6+ feet of snow in our front yard along the long driveway and street. We built tunnels and rooms all along the many yards, which took quite a few days to dig and lasted a good while until melts reduced everything. Our friends and us spent many days in those snow tunnels and rooms having loads fun.

Uhm actually according to my calculations and quantum physics 🤓It’s technically not an igloo because Igloos are made of blocks it’s a snow cave

You did a great job 👏 ....is it warm inside of it and does the heat from the stove the ice any? Thanks for your answers.

It is actually pretty warm compared to the outside temperatures. Snow is a great insulator and helps keep moisture down inside. Over time the wood stove would cause some issues from melting the snow around it but it worked great for an overnight stay.

I did not use any roof jack. I just used the one main support beam made of snow.
