I think what you helped me accept, is that the difference between a money-making shop such as your example versus my own struggle, is that you really have to conduct research on what people are looking for. The goal is to find that combination of “love doing it” and people searching for it. That combination is crucial so whatever your niche is, creating doesn’t become a chore. Although the same can be said for struggling; staying motivated can become a chore. Thank you for the real life example.

This is happening with all the youtube Etsy videos and honestly, people who watched this video were looking for more details regarding your revenue and how you succeed in the first 3 or 4 months! if you don't want to tell people please change your title!
Can you maybe make a video on the random things about Etsy like how much percentages they take how much you’re really taking home after Etsy fees so you can budget for expansion?
Man this type of stuff makes me discouraged lol. I’ve been doing everything to get sales and I’m seeing all these new shops just blow up instantly. Somebody new in my niche got 700 sales in 3 weeks with 2 week shipping, when I’m right here with 3 day shipping
Don’t be discouraged! Keep practicing your e-comm skills and eventually you’ll improve on your craft. The first couple shops I opened many years ago didn’t work out, but I just kept going and learned new things from each venture. I was hoping this video would inspire & motivate, rather than to discourage :(
Same here I follow advice I’ve spent money on courses, watched countless YT videos and nothing. I’d like someone to actually sit with me and prove that this can happen, essentially I am out of money.
@@Exploreyourmind24 Many people use social media to bring traffic. But in my opinion if you have to use social media, you might as well have your own website to bring traffic. Then it depends on your product. Some things just don't do well on Etsy.
I'm feeling the same, been on Etsy for a year now and not one sale with over 100 products. I guess no likes art these days or maybe they do-just not my designs.
I watched your videos, love them btw, got motivated and went to start my own shop but I couldn't because I'm in a country that's not supported by etsy payments. I recommend researching to see whether your country IS IN THE ETSY PAYMENTS so you don't get disappointed.
I love the mind set and had to subscribe.. Since I just opened my first Esty shop Yesturday with a 75 listings.. its been not even 24 hours and I cant stop refreshing the page until I get my first sale.. I can tell anyone reading this that I have watched many videos in regards to this topic and 90% are the exact same as this. ( not bashing, saying that he knows what he is saying and stop research how to, and starting doing it based of what you see here! I will be doing updates as well on my channel as time goes on if anyone is interested and seeing how a regular smock does. Like This Comment if you want to to report back here in a week or so!
Thanks. I will try this. I'm a digital artist and traditional artist so I'm leading with digital products and commissions on etsy as well print on demand later down the line once I test a few products myself. I'll be launching this month. I don't expect a high volume of sales but it will be good to just start something new.
I a digital artist as well going through cafepress starting within this month as well. Mind my asking my asking how things are going on Etsy? Is it fairly easy navigating being a seller?
How does it just blow up over night like that? There has to be more to it than just setting up and Etsy and putting digital products on your shop.. What's the catch

I would be interested to know how much the Ad spend was to the nearest thousand, I am skeptical of that amount of traffic so fast no matter what niche.
Overall I always appreciate people posting and sharing videos. Now in the start you shared parts of the shop and that's fine and how much you made from it. And you don't always have to show your exact shop we get that. But everything else even though it was detailed is still not enough and I'm constantly finding that from all of these Etsy RU-vid videos. The overall thank you but in a way it was still cliquish
Most likely he is lying. I remember when every single SEO person had their own "how to make money online" courses and Ebooks. But they really only made money from selling the courses and ebooks. I have a strong inclination that these "how to make money" RU-vid videos are basically the same thing.

it's always the same copy and paste video. They're not willing to give away what they did for their store step by step unless it's behind a paywall. You're right that this video is generic and we'd be fools to believe that any of us can make 18k on online orders easily in a month. Not saying it's impossible , but just take the video with a grain of salt. TLDR: just skip through the video. dont sit through the whole thing as it's nothing groundbreaking.
@@Timtimzi fr. at this point i just want someone tell me honestly if it's even possible to make money on etsy. 'cause all of a sudden there is more and more videos of that kind coming up in my yt recommendations on how to make money on etsy and that's already suspicious, why would so many people tell others all their secrets. meanwhile i go to take a look at etsy and even the reviews for each product there look fake.
@@ANNASTASIAUTHOR You can. Lots of people are doing it. Most people won't share their shop because they will get a huge jump in traffic with no sales, which hurts their shop. Plus, they will get their ideas stolen. Most people don't treat Etsy like a business and won't make money. But you can.

I still have couple questions, would be amazing if you could answer them! 1) In the beginning, when you went from 40$ in your first month to 7k+ in 2nd month, was it done without using any ads, happened organically? 2) If not, what was the amount spent on ads to go from 40$ to 7k$? 3) How many digital products were in your shop? One or many from the beginning?

When researching key words, what type of volume do you aim for? I have a bunch of low competition keywords for my niche but the search vol is often only around 100 to 150. Wondering if this is enough or i should be targeting higher competition words (but also higher search vol)?

In 4 days my shop has been opened 1 month and I’ve done 40 sales. Not all organic at all, I’ve done some ads just to test and it has been stressful month, I’m not good with seo at all, no background with it. So I’ve checked your videos and also following you on TikTok, so I started using erank, I think has helped me a bit. Even tho it hasn’t been easy to find a tag that’s not over saturated I’ve used some that are and I’ve been showing up on first page of tag search and that’s awesome, but maybe that’s cause of ads, I don’t know. Some days are dead, and then I start to stress that something isn’t working as it should, next day I can get like the biggest order ever. So for me Etsy is like playing a lottery 😅

Thank you very much for this video, its very helpful. I have a question though. At 10:57 of the video, the options for the mockup are $30 for personal, $35 for commercial and $350 for extended. I assume that in order to sell, you need at least the commercial one. What are the differences between the commercial and the extended commercial? Is it like how many times it can be sold, or how many years the license can be used? thank you
if you use it for your business its commercial, if selling their product is your actual business you need extended commercial, so for example a wedding planner would buy commercial, an Etsy or eBay seller would need to buy the extended commercial
I realized that the secret to making a million is saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks (with the help of my Financial Advisor of course) and made about 396k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded with her again and now I'm rounding up close to a million.
The pandemic came and taught everyone the importance of having multiple stream of income, unfortunately having a nice paying job doesn't mean you are financial secured anymore. So we all need to put in an extra-income earning chance, like investments.

@@pablosmith1747 Be careful not to jump into trading without any proper training because it can be very detrimental. Many folks jump into trading only to suffer great loss at the very beginning. Do not try to imitate a professional traders, better still ask questions. Get the services of a professional stock expert or a licensed broker.

I just started another store selling digital download. Not getting much sales…but target is to hit $100 then $1,000 and $10,000. Of course it need time but looking at your results it’s possible to make it happen. Need to do more homework.

NEED HELP! I got my first sell a couple days ago and realised that I sold with a loss. I have the same prize as the competitors but do not realise how they can go with a profit. I sold the shirt for $ 19,50 with shipping to Sweden for $ 10. The buyer also paid taxes (about $ 7). The production cost for the product from monster digital was $ 10,30, shipping cost $ 10 and VAT about $ 5. After Etsy fees I ended up with a loss. I don’t think I can prize my shirts higher if I want them to sell and I don’t know how I should solve this. I would appreciate a lot if someone could answer and help me.

How do you get traction on new listings? I list products within popular niches using good SEO, and high quality photos, but only receive 1-2 views a day and no sales. Good question. Not many etsy youtubers tell about this. I'm expirienced seller, have a shop for 4 years, more than 1000 sales. Decided to add new type of product in my old shop. Good seo, good photos, descriptions ... no visits at all, more than 20 items in new niche and no visits at all during the month.

Great video, Brandon! Just a quick question. If I am planning to start a store selling canva templates, do you suggest I open a general store selling canva templates for multiple niches OR do you suggest I open a store selling canva templates in 1 niche only for example canava template for online coaches, canva templates for gym owners etc.?
In this case, you can put it all in one shop, however I would start with one type of Canva template first, then slowly expand into the other styles of templates. Reason is because each sub niche requires different types of mock-ups. And it’ll take a looong time to design them all
