You need an evenly woven fabric on which to work Hardanger. This means it needs the same number of threads in both directions. However, that number can vary.
Oslo, a fabric with 22 threads per inch, is the most commonly used. If you want something a little more delicate, you can choose either 28 or 32 count linens.

I'm new to the world of embroidery and am very impressed with this style/design & a number of other designs in your other videos. One thing i would love though (as im not a very imaginative person) is some recommendations/ideas of how or where to use the designs you show. Coz as i said i really like them but, especially with designs such as in this video where you are creating windows or openings in the fabric, i have absolutely no clue how to incorporate it into any actual items.😥 You wouldn't have to make them yourself, just either say how or if you wanted to make a tutorial without speaking just music, you could easily add a text page or just add the ideas into the videos description. Thanks for you hard but beautiful work 😊

Three generations ago, my Maternal great-great grandmother brought her lace making, tatting, weaving and embroidery skills from Ireland to Maryland. I love watching these crafts skills being revived and passed on. My ancestor earned her living doing piecework for curtains, tableclothes, and dressmakers, but went blind doing it. I still have a few tools, a lace collar, and corner pieces

Thank you so much for this...I lost my Grandmother many years ago and that was the last time I say this done as she tried to teach me...I'm so pleased these traditional skills are being kept alive and taught to the next generations...Blessings, for that!!!

Lovely work 😊😊. You seem to be working with both your hands. When I do embroidery on a ring I have to hold the ring with one hand and so work with the other hand which is quite difficult. How come both your hands are free? Do you fix the ring to a clamp?

Your work is lovely and I enjoyed your video. However this is not hardanger embroidery. It is pulled thread/drawn thread work. Hardanger is composed of 5 satin stitches over 4 threads of fabric. If you would like more information feel free to contact me
