Best of luck with your new business venture! If I have one piece of advice that might help anyone considering starting a business is to find a local CPA / Tax advisor that specializes in helping small businesses ASAP. Those pesky Govt. revenuers can ruin your day in a hurry and there are a ton more taxes to consider as a small business vs being a standard employee.
@@ElectricSuperCar A thought, Tesla model s with a150+kw battery and non-Tesla motors... maybe Quad motors using an home brew transmission casings using send cut send ??
In Excited to hear that your taking the leap! I can imagine with the weight of family obligations this decision does not come lightly. However given your obvious passion, ability and trend of vehicular electrification I think this has the possibility of something huge for you. I wish you nothing but the best and look forward to future content.
Congratulations on taking the leap to starting your own company!! its a big step, and i personally am very happy for you. I can't wait to see what this new endeavor brings for you! wishing you all the best and success!
I wish you all the best. Your find there be many ups and downs but you will succeed. I started my own haulage company in the UK 5 years ago and its been an amazing time. I love the channel and think you do great content. All the best to you and your family.
Good luck with your business. Starting a business from a hobby is perfect and with the passion you have for it. From being fired to owning your own business. It's definitely going to be fine. Greetings from the Netherlands
Exciting! One thought is repeatability! Once you finish the Porsche 911 you will be an expert and will no all the hurdles. All of your gigs will be made and new parts designed. This is how you make money. You keep refining but you have the processes in place. If you have to start from scratch each time it will be hard to be profitable.
Glad to hear you have set a goal, Jeremy. It always sucks when you have to find other work, especially after giving so much time to an employer. Not knowing your previous field, I imagine things are fairly competitive there, and there are fewer openings than people to fill them. One thing I can say is this, when you do something that you enjoy, going to work each day is a pleasure, and you tend to not feel like you are working at all, most of the time. I spent 17 years working at a comic and book store, and everyone thought I was the owner because I was always cheerful and happy, and never complained about my job. I knew what I was expected to know, took pride in my shop and my job, and remembered all of the customers who came through the doors, their quirks and their likes and dislikes. I still had to do things that weren't on my list of things to do, but the environment kept me energized, optimistic and happy. I hope you find this to be the same, and, as the owner, you will have even more fun. The best part is you are able to leverage your ownership to bring in parts and more knowledge as a business, hopefully at a discount. Looking forward to what this venture brings as well as what it may add for content.
Wishing you the best! Also my first thought was; I know Rich Rebuilds is associated or a partner with electrified garage. That being said have you considered reaching out to them and setting up one in your area? To my knowledge there is only 2 and they’re on the east coast? Just a suggestion that might be worth considering.
As someone that was unemployed for 6 months i feel your pain. hang in there and keep your friends and family close by. That said i wish you the best of luck. i hope you succeed in your endeavors. keep up the awesome work.
Awesome that you are picking up on the idea there is an oversupply of EVs and people aren't going to want to be forced to drive them in the future. Building a business around converting EVs to ICE should give you no end of business going forward, good luck!
I really liked and respected what you did with Zack’s electric hummer . I hope and pray the best for you and your family . I would like to talk to to about a project when things slow down for you .
You are stepping out...in faith...towards your next adventure. In a media-centred world that seems to discourage the courageous, I admire your faith and strength. May Our Lord bless and guide you and your family along the path to success! I have every confidence in you! Aloha and may God bless all of you!❤👍
I was laid off a year ago and still haven't found a job in high tech sector. I was with the company 15 years and it hurt. I am glad you are going to do what you love and very good at. best of luck to you.
Congrats on making the jump into working on other people's cars. I just spent 5 months at the EVTV workshop working on upgrading my own 914 but I would love to work on other people's cars too.
I feared just doing youtube would not be enough for a while for you and you would just disappear. I mean if you were a kid and no responsibilities maybe you could build in time a big youtube channel but when you have family is hard. I know because i thought about it a lot for me. Great to hear the good news about your client and business ... this will help you make more content for us which is awesome. I bet in a couple of years when this channel will have millions of subscribers things will be different moneywise. Good luck! I wish you all the best! You are a inspiration!
Best of luck and as a business owner myself always remember it’s all about the journey! There are going to be ups and downs, some nervous days but nothing beats building something yourself - something you own, something you’re proud to call your own!
This honestly seems like a win win situation for everyone. We get to see videos on 2 vehicles at the same time. And you actually get payed for your hobby/work. I'm very excited to see what the next vehicle is going to be. I get my own electric car in 2 weeks (Kia Niro EV), just a "normal" electric car. Not a porsche or humvee converted to electric.
Exciting and scary. If I were you I would Rob and Duplicate (R&D) the successful classic car converters like ECC (Electric Classic Cars) and EV West. Some of the things they do 1) Do popular classic cars. (No cut, reversible) 2) use the first one as a template to create a kit 3) Sell the kits to other conversion shops 4) Post on RU-vid. You might consider that once you have the designs, partnering or subbing out to a fabrication shop that can work at higher volumes. Good luck, I really hope this works out for you.
Man you will have no shortage of customers with how successful your car was and how you helped out JerryRig. You should post some prices. The humvee is a great platform but Jerry rig went about it all wrong. With the all independent suspension JerryRig should have dropped a Tesla motor in replacing each differential. No trans no transfer case, and put the batteries in the big tunnel. I’d love to do that some day
I am in your EXACT situation. 7 months out of work and I actually considered for the first time ever leaving San Diego. If I could afford to move I would sweep your floor. 😞 Best wishes!
Go for it! Watched your whole Tesla Roadster-build. Very entertaining content and I guess a good experience for yourself? Good luck and god speed for the future endevours. Thumbs up from Sweden!
It will actually be really good for your channel to have some parallel builds. Keep the Porsche going, but add some new and interesting customer cars is a win-win. Plus, you'll hone your skills even faster when it's a full-time job. I do have a couple curious questions about your business plan. First, are you only taking on customers who agree to have their build posted here on RU-vid? Second, does that video content and probably corporate partnerships you'll build allow you to offer discounts on EV conversions? Maybe that's more of a future thing, I'm sure you'll want to rebuild your savings first after such a long time unemployed.
The plan is that builds would be posted on RU-vid. Currently, I will not be making enough money (or from RU-vid or sponsors) that offering discounts will be an option. Maybe in the future.
That's Awesome. I felt really bad when you mentioned being laid off sometime ago as i wondered why someone as talented as you would be let go in such a way but hey i guess the Big Guy above had his reasons. I hope this venture is a part of that reason and i wish you and your family the best man. 👍
Wishing you well and making sure you know you can purchase prebuilt electric conversion kits from EV West in California and Electric Classic Cars in Wales. You’ll also soon be able to buy hybrid conversion kits for pickups and SUVs from Edison Motors in Canada.
Good luck with the new business. You have a lot of skills and I am surprised to see companies not hiring you. Your videos speaks volumes to your ability to problem solve. It will be exciting to watch you build customer cars.
If you post it we will watch, I wish you best of luck with your future endeavors and I kinda sorta hope someone brings a skoolie over for you to convert.
Brilliant and I wish you all success. Please consider starting a training program on EV retrofits, one or two trainees at a time. Or talk to your local vocational institutes and offer to start a training program at a bigger scale. Take it a step further and apply for training grants to fund your own "Clean Energy" Training Institute.
