HAPPY SUNDAY COUSINS!!!! When I was recording this video I realized I hadn’t done an actual RU-vid video on my straight hair in like 4 YEARS! 🤯 Which means most of you have never seen my hair straight (unless you watched an old video). The last time I straightened my hair was in 2016... but I didn’t record it. So I think the last video is from 2015! Just a little side note: I said my hair was reverting at the end of the video but honestly... it’s 5 days later and it’s still going strong! 🙌🏾 I don’t do much to maintain my hair, but hopefully I can get that video out to you guys, too! ❤️🌻

thanks for posting the following video... I've been having a battle with myself regarding straightening my hair or just simply blowing my hair out. Last week, I decided to blow my hair out and I rocked the blow out for a week... then I missed my curls so much, that on Friday I did a hot oil treatment and then continued with my wash day routine. After watching your video and listening to you, I realized deciding not to straighten my hair for the remainder of the year is the right decision for me. I love your hair and you're definitely giving me hair goals :-)

I never ever straighten my hair during the summer! Lord no Winter only and even then I do a 14 day weather forecast check.

Mary Cox 😂😂😂😂 Thank you so much for this comment. My co-workers call me the weather lady. If the humidity is above 50 percent you can forget it. Needless to say mine only gets straightened 2 times a year just to get a good trim. But looking at Amber’s great results I can’t wait until it cools off here in Philadelphia

If you have the right hair stylist do your hair you won’t get heat damage. I go twice a year to the salon to do rollers, blow dry then get a trim., and my hair curls back up with no problems.

I feel like I can finally relate to someone who has the same hair density as me. I have 4c hair and my hair is of a lower density. I'm glad I have someone to relate to😊. Not all naturals have thick, dense hair😁.

No heat damage really is a demon that be on our shoulder! I haven’t had my hair straightened it since 2017 and I’m excited to straighten it now 😁😬. + I need a good trim anyways cause I haven’t trimmed since then too 🥴. My hair is healthy and all, but yeah. Cousin your hair looks soooo good 🤩😍😍

Honestly, I've been doing my natural hair for so long I don't use any heat protection. Deep conditioing, wash, and condition is enough for my 4Z....yes 4Z hair. But that's my hair 🙃

I rarely straighten my hair lol and when I do, I take a selfie because I won't be seeing my hair straight for a long time lol, but yeah for some reason, I think I can do a more accurate hair cut when my hair is straight. Every time I straighten my hair I worry about heat damage too, but sometimes I gotta change things up!!

When I feel like doing it, i'ma do it .... yep, that's me too! except . My hair is medium to low density, fine hair,. When in its natural state, it gives the illusion that it's thick. I realized that since watching all this thick hair on YT ..... i'm like shoot, now that's thick hair!!!

We have the exact same kind of hair!! Like we are hair twins to the maxxxx (Low porosity, Fine, 3c 4a -ish )..for those reasons, I do my straightening in the middle of fall to avoid any kind of humidity 🤣.Sidebar, I'm right with you about feeling the "thinness"when I straighten my hair!! My mom just straighten my hair yesterday and it’s been 8 months, also 8 months without a trim. And I had to get at least 3 inches cut off. I wasn’t mad but I see I can’t go a whole year without trimming my hair and my moms a hairstylist and she can’t trim my hair when it’s in natural state. So now I’ll be straightening my hair every 3 months to keep up with my trims. She said it’s all about moderation when it comes to heat. You can’t get heat damage unless you’re flat ironing your hair every week. Edit: my hair is back thick and healthy after trimming my ends but it was thinning out because I wasn’t keeping up with it.

People (in general) aren’t afraid of heat. They’re afraid of heat DAMAGE. Heat damage drastically changes the shape, elasticity and overall behavior of your hair. Which could affect people who like to wear their hair curly the majority of the time. For some it’s a bigger deal than others. Everyone’s hair is different though so if you like regularly using heat, keep doing what works for you! 👌🏾❤️

I've been natural for 6yrs but I would get my hair flat ironed once a yr when I got my ends trimmed. But it's been 2yrs so I have been wanting to flat iron it. My only thing is it's a waste of time in this f'd up humidity weather in Houston. The last time 2 times I literally had to put it in a ponytail an hour later because it was frizzy while I was out and about. Looked like I didn't even get it done. 😡 But I do have a lot of shrinkage so I just want to flat iron so I can see the length just curious.
