To be honest, I still don't understand how people can't support people with different sexual orientation - which essentially is equality! Where I live, the majority of people accept it so that may be why. Anyway, this video reinforces how much of a great guy you are! Thank you for making this

I had the courage to tell everyone I was lesbian at 14, and I went through hell, as it were. I mean it gets pretty bad with bullies as a freshman. But anyway, the point is I'm really happy when I see videos like this. After going through what I went through when I was younger things like this are amazing. You sir are amazing. ^^
I guess it is harder for girls to come out. I came out at 13 and i guess since i was popular or whatever i was accepted. Even now in High School people watch my back and step in whenever someone throws shade.

I'm a straight guy, with gay relatives and friends. I was raised religious and always was taught homosexuality was wrong. Obviously now that I am grown I have formed an opposite opinion about it. It's such a stupid thing to be against. Gay people live such normal lives, they like the same things and have the same interests as straight people (except for the big one.) I feel like history will look back on the prejudice to gay people the same way we look at racism today- that is to say, it will seem utterly ridiculous and everyone who actively was against gay marriage will be looked down upon.
@@daffoplays6616 Haha, it's funny you reply to this now, years later. My opinions have evolved since then. I still do believe any adult should have the right to a homosexual marriage if they want to. People can openly express their attractions and professed sexual orientation and nobody should condemn or criticize them. But, I see the erosion of the traditional family institution as a movement that contributes to many big problems in our society. Lack of father in a household is a major predictor of crime, violence... I also see that definitions of gender roles have become less rigid, which in many ways is a good thing because it allows for the full expression of masculine and feminine aspects of an individual, but also has led to a dissolution of the masculinity and feminity as a whole, as it relates to biological realities of men and women. Transgenderism is similar to professed homosexual orientations, evident by their inclusion in the acronym above, but its a much different thing. I don't think we should be encouraging people to alter their bodies drastically without a comprehensive psychological evaluation, one that investigates their history of sexual experiences, traumas, or mental illness they may be afflicted with and working through those things before even getting close to hormone replacements, sex reassignment surgeries, etc. Interesting the comorbidity of transgenderism with other pathologies such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, suicidal ideation and many more... Many individuals have found that as they get a handle on their other afflictions, their transgender identification leaves along with it. People want to attribute all of that to societal pressure, but it doesn't seem to be plausible. I don't think fully embracing these things as a society is going to be without unforeseen consequences. What are those consequences? I can't say for sure, but definitely, the traditional family is being done away with. 40-50% of marriages end in divorce, about 20 million single parents. A mother and father married is a stable predictor of outcome. Changing ideas about masculinity & feminity, men & women, male & female, sex & bonding... I'm not saying its evil. What I am saying is nobody knows if it will be better than what we've had. I say let people live how they want and we'll see what happens. But, the same thing as racism, slavery, civil rights? I'm not sure about that. Actually, I don't think its comparable, definitely not in 2020. I believe in truth, as much as this deconstructionist generation wants to say otherwise, there is a fundamental reality to the world and to human nature. We are at a point in America where people want to disregard human nature and decide it for themselves. It's too bad we don't understand the human mind better, we literally know nothing, and I think that's what leads to most conflicts, especially violent ones.
As someone who is gay, living with my partner of 2 and a half years, I want to say thank you. I enjoyed the relaxing non-intrusive point of view which hopefully opened some eyes. I was beat up in 7th grade for being "gay", some 10 years before I ever came "out". The kid took a rock and hit me in the back of the head. I was afraid to walk home, and so focused all the negative energy into my artwork each day after school. By my senior year I had a piece exhibited in the Smithsonian. So, thank you again. As usual, enjoying the videos.

@@Tavemanic Transgender does not mean from man to woman or woman to man, it specifically means anyone that does not identify with the gender identity usually corresponding with their assigned sex at birth. "Trans" is a prefix meaning "on the other side of; opposite", not "to change" as some people misconception about that.
Thank you for this. I am only 17, (graduating this year in June), and my whole school life I've been bullied and teased for my sexuality. Videos like these boost my confidence level making me know and see that there are kind straight people in this world.

In college, openly bi, do receive some piss taking but thankfully im surrounded by supportive friends and classmates who'd stick by me. To know that you posted this years ago and didn't post it recently just for the lgbtq+ *"trend" is great, your my favourite youtuber so I'm really happy that your supportive of it. *Some people aren't truly supportive and people of the lgbtq+ community like me have had trouble with these sort of people.

Highly appreciated and just what I needed to see. I just finished viewing another ASMR artist channel and the comments were so discriminating and hurtful, in my opinion the words were attacking me as a person. As someone personally apart of the LGBTQ community I thank you for your awareness and its people like you that are going to push this world forward and help us all move on with real issues in the "human culture" because thats what we all are right? Just a little nitpicky thing, using the term "sexual preference" implies it's choice. "Sexual Orientation" is a more appropriate term. Also intersex is more of a medical aspect of someones body development then a sexual orientation, grouping it with LGBT doesn't make much sense.

As I did more and more videos I came to realize that some of my viewers may be members of the LGBTI community. So I've tried to keep my first person videos gender neutral so that everyone can feel comfortable watching. I stumbled upon this when I did FBASMR where I was clearly talking to a female. My Reddit subscribers pointed this out to me and how it ruined the mood for them. I really appreciate feedback like that as it helps me to produce a better video that pleases everyone. (*Just sharing a thought a I had while watching your video.)

I really like the tone of this video, ER. I empathise with your assessment of labels and how they shouldn't be needed - it's just unfortunate that we live in a world where we have to put things in boxes. It would be great if people just assumed anyone has the capacity to be attracted to, or fall in love with, anyone of any gender, race, etc, but I guess that just isn't the case. It's rather odd how the "gay movement" was, ironically, quite exclusive to strictly homosexual people and actually somewhat alienated bisexuals because they didn't really fit in either camp. On the plus side, the LGBTI movement seems to rectify that so hopefully that problem fades away. I still feel that the "bisexual" label holds less legitimacy because people assume bisexuals are confused/going through a phase, that bisexual women are doing it for attention or aren't "really" into women or that bisexual men are actually just gay. For all intensive purposes I'm bisexual but, to me, it's pointless identifying as that. I have a long-term girlfriend and I don't want to be with a man, or another woman because I'm committed to my partner, but hey.

I've kind of noticed the same thing, being bi myself as well. There are far too many people, both hetero- and homosexuals, who for whatever reason feel threatened by my orientation.

Matilda Persson Still not sure I understand. I hope you are not saying that whereas pansexuals feel attraction to a person as a whole, bisexuals are only attracted to a persons sex. Because that makes no sense whatsoever. Gender is of course a completely different matter, if pansexuals are against cultural norms of two distinct genders, I naturally agree. Just don't think the best way to go against that is acting like it doesn't exist at all.
The worst comments are the "I don't agree with homosexuality but I don't judge them or hate them". It's still intolerance, you just don't want to be called a bigot and think saying "I think it's wrong but I don't hate them" absolves you of your stupidity and homophobia. I agree. I honestly don't care about gay people being gay. You love who you love. I have a hard time getting (it's just hard to accept at first is what I'm saying) why they like the same gender but that's them. Why are they bullied? I could be friends with them if I knew any and wouldn't care. People need to stop labeling people and just accepting others.
Dakota Deal There are several reasons people care about those who don't agree with homosexuality, like yourself. First, those intolerant to gays are likely to vote against gay marriage (likely for "religious reasons" even though you can marry in a courthouse). I firmly believe that any two consenting legal adults in love should be able to marry and therefore receive marriage benefits. I still remember when I was in the hospital, the gay man the next room over was dying, but his partner couldn't be there, he wasn't a legally recognized spouse though they'd been together for DECADES, and the sick mans' family wouldn't allow him in the room either. They, too, we're against gays because of "religious reasons", yet they'd disowned their son and only visited him on his deathbed. That man held on until his partner was finally allowed to visit him after his family caved in, after a week. After spending time together, his partner told him it's okay to let go and he's so in love with him and will see him on the other side. After saying that, the sick man squeezed his partners hand and died. He'd been waiting to say goodbye to his partner the whole time. It was very hard for me to see that situation and still be against gays in any way. Second, about "religious reasons": There are many things in the Bible that I don't follow either, such as consuming shellfish or working Sundays and I even have a tattoo. After all, the Bible wasn't written by God; it's a collection of stories relayed by men over time, so I don't expect it to be literal or exact, but rather for its broader messages. Like forgiveness, love, being humble, and tolerance. Being against gays does not follow these values. Third reason.. Gays are born gay and they cannot change, same as I'm straight and cannot change. I can't look at the same sex and get turned on if I chose to; it's just not possible to remove what I'm attracted to. If it WAS a choice, then you could just as easily get turned on by the same sex. I'm sure you agree that's not possible, unless you yourself are bisexual or gay. Therefore, it's not a choice, therefore it's inherent at birth. #4: It's not harming anyone at all. It's love, and there's literally no logical reason to not support it. Some like to compare it to marrying a dog; they say "if we let two men marry then why can't we marry a pet?" Because animals can't consent, but two men or two women sure can. They also say "then why can't I marry a kid?" Because minors can't consent. Basically, the whole slippery slope argument is irrational. Two consenting adults of legal age should definitely be able to marry. No reason otherwise.

Where I live, there is no option or controversy. You live and work alongside people of different sexual orientations and identities all the time. You'd have to be a little crazy (or profoundly stupid, more often than not) to find anything offensive about it. So, cheers to you ER. ER, you called bullies (people harassing gay people) weak and insecure, but I take issue with that. While it's entirely possible said bully is insecure, painting all of them with the same brush is exactly the behvaviour we want to avoid. American History X taught me that racism is not a sign of personal weakness, but a learned behaviour. Education and a sharing of ideas as equals is the key to peace, not name calling or blame placing - on either side.
Same here. I'm bisexual intersex who was bullied at school quite badly and yet, I disagree with almost everything ER is saying. He makes good ASMR videos, but when it comes to the matters of intellectual nature and life philosophy in general he's severely lacking.

Generic Internet User Gender is abstract, it's not real we humans made it up for the tradition roles, biology, genealogy and sex is real. Hey Rift, Just a question. I never see any sweat on the side of the bottles or glasses... Do you drink your beers warm? If so, what's your reasoning behind it? I always prefer my beers to be as cold as possible. Always makes it taste better in my opinion. But I'm sure someone will disagree with me :)
I thought I read somewhere that beer should be kept at room temperature. That's how I like mine. It may seem hard to drink "warm" beer at first but you get past that eventually.

EphemeralRift, Let me state first that I agree with your sentiments surrounding the "live and let live" philosophy. I am an anarchist and therefore don't enjoy the idea of any governmental body controlling what the people can and cannot do. Anything written hereafter within this post is not in reference to either of those base ideas. With that said, I've noticed a troubling trend that has developed within progressive thought communities. The very word progressive is often assumed to be morally good and sound and, therefore, anything going against a progressive idea is assumed to be morally backwards and wrong. Due to the latter, those that do not believe in progressive philosophies are ostracized, commonly being labeled as haters, bigots, racists, and homophobes - even when the actual definition of the word has nothing to do with the argument of the non-progressive. Viewpoints that do not go hand-in-hand with the progressive movement are often labeled with the above listed words, even if those viewpoints hold their own logically. The result is a progressive community that stands for love and tolerance, while simultaneously showing intolerance for anyone disagreeing with the progressive opinion. And what this produces is a "with us or against us" mind set, which can be illustrated to some extent below this post in the other comments. And this the bread and butter of my comment. As it stands, the ASMR community is about relaxation for all. Due to political brainwashing and learning to hate "the other," be it Republican or Democrat, Liberal or Conservative, topics such as this will always produce conflict among the viewers and has a chance to make those who do not share progressive viewpoints feel ostracized. In closing and to fully illustrate my point, I believe you to currently be the single most influential person in the ASMR community. And I think introducing politics is a very harmful thing for the community. Politics always, always, always brings conflict, and produces a result opposite of relaxation. Further, it would be a shame for the norm of the community to become that of liberalism to the point that those with opposing viewpoints in the community feel ostracized. With that said, I am fully aware this is your channel and you can do whatever you want with it. I wished to throw my two cents in considering your influential nature over the community. All the best
Seren , it is utopist to comptetely avoid talking politics if by politics, you mean one's relation towards a/many given group(s)/category(s) of people. Mainly because Asmr is a thing about relating to the other, and that implies language and linguistics. If anything, ER is just aknowledging the right of individuals to have control over their own lives and not be prejudiced or have their basic human rights negated for being who they are. I live in a state where not only is homosexual marriage banned, but homosexuality in general is still illegal. That is just downright sad. I am a supporter of the LGBTI in my local community, and it angers me when it is difficult for same sex or transgendered individuals to obtain certain rights within legal entities. E, you are correct in your saying that as a society we may be advanced technologically, but not mentally.
