I swapped out my Vectra M1 for a COR20. My entire tank is now 100% controlled via Apex Fusion. Both the M1 and the COR are great return pumps but I may have found what gives the COR the edge on the Vectra...
I have always run an EcoTech Marine Vectra M1 but I just bought a new COR20 so I will be running two return pumps for my new build! One of the best videos out there !!
I switched from a Vectra to a COR20 and i love it. The Vectra worked well for me and Ecotech support was great but I needed a pump that was a little smaller to fit in a new sump and the COR was perfect. Apex controllability is the killer feature.
Thank you for making this video. I'm thinking about making the switch myself. I have a couple of questions. How does the flow compare? Is there any difference in water temperature? Thanks in advance and you have a really nice tank!
I really don't see a difference in water temp. I think the flow is better then my old vectra m1 and it uses less power at the same level in my case. I have bumped up the power/flow tho. It works great for me.
Hey man I switched from my RedSea that came with my tank and just installed a core20 definitely more compact, no need of a big sponge under to prevent vibration. Definitely a good purchase, my concern is the flow cause I had a flow meter but I installed my core with the 11/4” union and when I look of the flow is only giving 527 because on the flow settings I put that I used a 1” flow meter but I change that for the 2” immediately change to 2500 flow in my opinion the flow setting should have a set for 11/4” but flow is flow regardless the size I will say am new basically couple years to this hobby and am learning the trade. Can you help me verify this or what I did wrong . Thank you!
The Neptune flow meters should be set to the size of what the meteris. I use 1 inch meters on my split returns and 1/2 inch for reactors so they are configured as such despite having the 1-1/4” union and a 1-1/4” to 1” slip x slip PVC reducer fitting. My flow meters show the following in gallons - 253, 245, 105, 33, 121 for my returns and reactors = 756 gph for the whole system My CORs max speed is 45%. Hope that helps.
Tha Bizness Reef Tank mine core20 is only for the return line where the o1” flow meter is installed and I don’t get more that 520-527 at 100% but if I go to the module and change the size of the flow meter, immediately change the number to 2200 so am confused here I think this numbers are premeditated according to the size of the flow meter regardless of the size of the pipe. Am writing to customer services to see if they can check if I did something wrong or what else could be. Cause it doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you! Anyway I see that you are calculating total of gallons . Thank you!
Great video! I am looking to buy a COR 20 and really enjoyed your evaluation of why it would be a better choice for you vs the Vectra. Being that the video is a couple years old, are you still happy with the COR 20? Have you had any issues with it along the way that you can share?
