My car was nearly stolen but for the extra layer of protective devices. Double check when you take your car to dealership for maintenance. The mechanics there work with the criminals by putting a special type of tracking device in your car.

I live in middle ga. Off I-75. In between Atlanta and Savannah. And it’s no surprise to us. The amount of 18 wheelers on the interstate between here and there is UNREAL. they also drive very fast and recklessly and have caused many wrecks

The reason why they are shipping these vehicles overseas, is b/c they can get 3x-5x sometimes even 10x the value they would get selling them here in the US. Also, once it's overseas it's gone for good. Example....you could sell a 10 yrs old Honda CRV for $28K USD to Liberia or Nigeria....whereas you may only get $7,500 selling it here

Said it before and say it again; it is very easy to make sure your car isn't stolen; REMOVE a vital ignition part when you park it overnight or if you are unable to park it in your garage!

Yes, but this is not practical for businesses (i.e., like franchised dealerships and used car retailers) at the many auto malls around America, which each can easily top 1,000+ vehicles on these lots. The largest auto mall in the U.S. is Cerritos Auto Square, which has 23 dealer marques, averages around 7,500+ vehicles on their lots annually. I think improving the procedure on how these containers are processed at these ports will put less strain on these businesses and the American people.

How do you ship a car without paperwork or surveillance or names or creedit card or ......? Do you just park it at front door with a note that reads please ship to Africa?

No. It works the same way UPS does. You put it in a container, pay for it to be shipped and it gets delivered to the destnation unopened. Paperwork is required but it's up to the customer to fill out the form.

The main facilitators are living in America. The government should stop doing deals with these guys. The cars normally end up on the streets of West Africa et al, and sold by the car dealers who might know the criminal history of the car’s arrival. Work with the customs in just one country, I can assure you, the others will divert their consignments to neighboring countries. The pattern is not too hard to follow

It doesn't make sense, how they don't know who stole the cars? Who is sending them? Who is receiving them? Where is the paper work? Where is the video of the cameras that are all over the roads? Why the dealer doesn't have some type of alarm in the show room and/or better security on the cars where they can't be moved? Now days cars dealerships are almost vacant, I would think they would protect them better.

How do you catch a car thief? You don’t… 1) You make it illegal to ship cars in containers unless the owner of the car goes through a year long federal paperwork process 2) You scan every container that goes through the port , if a car is found you put anyone that is tied with the shipment (broker, shipper, container owner) in prison. No more stolen cars…

Stolen cars is a big business for the automakers, the police , the judge, the state and everyone else in on it acting like they care about stopping it. They do enough to make it seems as if they are trying to do something but this is a big business for everyone. All vehicle now has cameras and that could be used as a authentication system to verify owners to a database stored elsewhere and each time it changes ownership that info has to be updated and I patented that but the car industry was not interested in doing that because they were too busy shrinking the vehicles, changing the lights, etc you know, the important stuff, oh and the best one, making the material cheaper so it is has less resistance to impact which means, more parts are sold when accidents occur

Regardless your car is keyed or push button , invest a good Steering wheel locking ( look for several thousand reviews) is the safest bet. Thiefs can not carry ton of keys, they only have less than 10 minutes to steel. Another safe feature is Engine kill switch. Car won't start, car won't steer it won't go anywhere.

Always put cameras in obvious places as well as have some pointed down the street. Hidden cameras give theives false sense of reality. Cameras down the steet shows cars and plates

same story out of Baltimore - i'd imagine Jacksonville too. My question is: Where was this car parked for 15 months?, it does have uconnect on it after all - and how did they steal it so easily? are these refugees let in here from the various diversity preferences then being put to work in this business - to pay back their debt for getting here? All of the thieves have the same profile. it doesn't seem difficult to track this down - but then again Georgia has other priorities other than true crime at the moment.
