Yeah, I shower like once a week and im not dirty, it really depends on how much you like do things and get sweaty and when you feel like your body is gross,, idk, but most times, showering every day can be harmful, it can strip your skin and become dry which isn't good, and I think dont quote me but since your stripping your skin a lot your body might be overproducing more oils than it needs too and might lead to break outs, thats what I've heard so yeah,, don't take my word 100% haha
Same dude, same. I got a date and I've gotta get my hair did after years of box dying it red. Idk what color I'm gonna do yet but I think it's either gonna be blonde or orange I want a totally wacky color this time
pov: you have dyed your hair 30 different times since march 2020 and you’re trying to go back updated: i’ve dyed my hair another 30 times and somehow it hasn’t fell out
The 2020 experience is everyone bleaching their hair at home and 80% of those dying it a blue shade and then searching for videos on how to get rid of it
My daughter had purple dye ....i kept telling her (she bleached it 1x) that purple on orangish red will come out this weird blue green color...but she wanted to so it anyways...now her hair is like 3 or more colors ranging from turquoise, blue grey to greenish...it looks horrible....so now trying to remove that awfulness and bleach it again ..so it wont be orange and re-dye it.....but idk how long i should wait, if i use bleach to help pull out dye, before dying it again
I tried the shampoo, lighter, developer and water. My hair was pink and purple and now it’s blonde again 😋 thanks brad! And to those wondering. I used two packets of lighter, 1 4oz 20 volume developer, two pumps shampoo and about a tablespoon of water. It worked like a charm!
Girl thank you for leaving this comment! I used your ratio to a T and it turned out exactly how I needed it to! So thanks a bunch, I just wanted to come back here and tell you you really helped me out 😇 have an awesome day!
@@reaganslusher3860 Malibu ddl with water was the only thing that worked for me and then I did wella blondor with 10 developer for 30 mins and toner.. miracle back to platinum. It was stressful
I'm a hair color chemist. Color Oops causes a reduction reaction that reverses the oxidative reaction of mixing tint with developer. For this reason it is only indicated to remove permanent and demi-permanent hair color (ie, color activated by peroxide). Semi-permanent color is direct dye that undergoes no oxidation reaction (this is why it does not need developer). Color Oops is great for removing any color you deposited by mixing tint with developer, but semi-perm direct dyes do not require this kind of treatment. A bleach bath is the better option for effective removal of direct dyes.
@@rem-erfulsleeptech2606 According to the commenter, only if that box dye is permanent or demi-permanent. But many box dyes are semi-permanent, which may require bleach.

Blue always seems to fade nice when the hair underneath is white blonde. But if you have even the slightest yellow tinge to your hair, the blue is gonna face to teal then green lmao
Not a hairstylist, but I color my hair at home all the time. BEST at home color remover is 1 part dawn dish soap, 1 part 20 volume developer, 1 part conditioner, 1 part baking soda. It took me from a dark emerald green to a very light yellow in about 25 minutes
Do you apply it like lightener by putting it at the middle and ends first then doing the roots ? Also not to sound stupid but what counts as 1 part lol like does that mean just using equal amounts from each ingredient ? I’m just trying to get Arctic fox color out of my hair bc it did not turn out right and I’ve washed it quite a few times and it’s not going anywhere and I’m worried lol
@@aero87roxyI just dumped it on my head lol and slathered it like shampoo. And by “part” I mean just use the same amount for each product, ex. 1 cup conditioner, 1 cup developer, 1 cup soap, one cup baking soda. I used arctic fox for my green and it came out
@@tiana216it would probably fade it down a little but these techniques are best for bleached hair that has then been dyed a bright colour. Like brads in this video
The answer from a best result view is bleach, but you would need to individualize the formula depending on what color you are removing and the type of hair and type of dye etc . Not sure if there is a way to do a one size fits all.
It's in response to some girl who posted a video claiming he wasn't really a hair stylist and that she is and says how his color doesn't come out. I'm glad he made this to prove the haters wrong!
A bleach bath is STILL so damaging...i thought the point was to do this WITHOUT any bleach. I know bleach baths work but not like THAT on BLUE...any other color it's good yet still damaging.
i tried to dye my hair black to look like a cool emo girl, but then i realized to late that i have super curly hair and now i look like i’m wearing a micheal jackson wig instead 😭😭😭
i thought about that one aswell when removing my pink hairdye that really was stuck. just my hair had been super damaged before, so i didnt wanna use bleach on it. also what i find difficult with bleachbaths is that you find like 10 different ways to mix it if you look it up lol. some use 30 developer mix with water so that it turns out to be like 20 vol or something? but then some use 20 and mix it with double the amount of shampoo and idk what... xD
Idk whats with my hair but bleach could not remove the blue stains. I'd go in with straight bleach and it wouldnt lift to the level of the wig in the video but it would remove most of the dye and then the only thing that would fade the stain (even the wig has that green tone) is the vit C. Colour oops aside but I actually feel the optimal is a combo of all 3 methods (clarifying shampoo-bleach-vit c) That being said its literally only blue that I have this issue with 😂
@@The.Painted.Angel. have u tried using coconutoil? i know brad hates it but for removing hairdye ive always used coconutoil to make it fade before using anything else.. i could imagine it work wonders if you let coconutoil sit on ur hair over night and then do the baking soda mix to get it out
I've personally had awesome results with Color Oops, using it with permanent hair color of course! It removed a very dark blue black dye and brought my hair back to its natural light brown. The best part is my hair was not damaged at all, and I was able to dye it back to my desired color the very same day! It was amazing to me.
@@LatinDolll color oops definitely does smell and, in my opinion, the extra strength one smells super badly. but if you keep the room ventilated, it's not too bad and it works pretty well :)
I used ion permanent hair color (purple). I bleached my hair before, and it has slight damage. It's been months now and it's faded, I want it to just go back to the blonde. Do you think the color Oops would work?
I’m a hairstylist, I’ve also used all of these methods on myself. Bleach wash was definitely the most effective here but I always prefer to use Joico Color Eraser, formulated to remove direct dyes. It’s still damaging but slightly less so than bleach I believe. It works fast but beware it will lift your natural hair color if left on long enough.
@@hannahverne5419 No, because your natural hair color is still under there ( think of a photo filter.) Permanent color uses a developer (w/ ammonia) to remov 100% of your natural color and replaces it with the artificial color. However, direct dye can still stick in your hair and be hard to remove. If you have white blonde hair, and put a blue direct dye in it, you **may** have turquoise forever lol
@@tfyoubeensmoking2153 I had dark red hair for a year before I went blonde and my hair lived to tell the tale but I can’t grow it long because it just breaks off 😂 😭
Me watching this with semipermanent color in my hair that has been in my hair for about a year: 👁👄👁 Edit: I dyed my whole head blue after failing to get the blue out (I died the rest in a different brand) and now I have to remove it all 😭 and I noticed some people in the replies are saying that their hairdressers told them that bleach burn the blue into their hair I did not bleach my hair before I dyed it my hair is naturally blonde 😅😓
For bleach its equal parts developper to scoops of bleach powder then add shampoo and water until its a runny but still goopy kind of texture and like 2 or 3 tsp of water
The most effective non damaging diy hair color remover I've ever used is vitamin c tablets crushed up mixed with head and shoulders shampoo and it got the hot pink out of my hair in just a few applications and didn't do much damage to my hair. I was extremely pleased that it got all the color out of my hair
Wow really? I tried it and my hair turned into rubber bands :( and it had hardly lifted box dye at all. It damaged it as much as 2 or 3 bleaching sesh would. Your luckyyyyy :)
as a natural ginger who has platinum blonde hair now😎 i feel you our hair is so pigmented that's why its so hard to bleach at the end of 1 and half year finally i am blonde!!
@@user-qw1up7ep9k bleach isn't extra damaging for red hairs like how 'hey if you are a redhead bleach is more harmful for you!' lol it just takes more time to bleach because of red pigments. that's why the process can be longer but not 'extra damaging'
Hassan he doesn’t really color it that much tho lol but I understand what you mean he does change it from time to time he mentioned he wanted to try something new we all are definitely guilty of bleaching our hair at least once if someone hasn’t then ignore my comment haha
haha! i love the changes of his hair colour! He has bleach on scalp (as we call it in the salon) and most likely has hairdresser friends (or coworkers) who just bleach his regrowth! (root area that's grown back) so only the new, unbleached hair that is bleached each time! and his hair colours are just funky toners (I assume by the way they fade), also he's a hairdresser, so he's an exception to his own rule i suppose 🤣
He’s said before that he dyes his hair with semi permanent hair color which most formulas don’t damage the hair and also doesn’t require you to bleach it out of your hair. It’s temporary for a reason.
Hairstylist of 15 years. I use equal parts dishsoap, baking soda, and 20 volume developer. Although that teal color is the hardest to remove. It usually always works!
In my profile pic, this is my natural color. I went red and now I want it out. My roots are about an inch. Will what you said work for mine so I can put a dark blonde on my hair?
I googled the measurements for a bleach bath and got this: Mix equal parts Bleach and Developer - between 25 - 50ml. Add roughly double the amount of Shampoo to Bleach and Developer Mix.
@@chloeprapuolenis9408 it'll be there forever 🤣 I had to put the bowl in the bath & just wait for the explosion to stop..... It didn't really work for me first time, I could see a change, but very subtle. I used a colour remover in the end. Worked brilliantly!
I'm so glad I watched this! I was planning on buying the oops color remover. I didn't know it had fumes. I have lung damage and fumey chemicals really bother me. Bleaching my hair never has so I didn't even think about it. That comment you made about your respiratory tract not being happy was very helpful!
I've heard people say the smell from the color oops was in their house for so long, and when they went to wash the shirt they used it made the rest of their clothes smell like it. It was awful.
From my experience as a stylist - no most color removers will not lift direct dyes since they are only formulated for oxidative color but color oops also from my experience seeing clients lifts the hair - even natural pigment - so I believe that’s why you got some results with it
Thanks for this Brad. I do these kinds of experiments on mannequins all the time. The bleach bath ( or as we old school hairdressers say) shampoo cocktails ultimately work the best and are ingredients every hairdresser has in their salon. When I'm working I need results in a timely manner because time is money!! Fun to see the other methods being put to the test! Great video, I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks Brad!
I’d love to just have one experience with Brad Mondo coloring/cutting my hair to the color and style I have REALLY wanted! I’ve had soooo many not so great experiences. 😭 Brad if you read this, I think you’re absolutely awesome. You have an amazing gift. Don’t ever change! 🙂
Licensed stylist here, I use baking soda, dawn dish soap & hydrogen peroxide (like from the drug store for boo boos) sorta equal parts. This is an old recipe for removing stains on anything! Grass stains, blood, coffee etc. originally for clothing stains or countertops. It works great to remove direct dye (aka stain) from hair!
Color X-Change Phase-Out Gentle Dye Decolorizer + Intensive Hair Mask works really well on semi/demi permanent colors, it's left on overnight and is super gentle. I went to a very bright turquoise and realized I looked like a very weird old lady and this took out almost all of the color overnight with little to no damage and it didn't smell bad. I think it worked better than bleach-bath for my porous hair. I think the difference between this and the first method you tried is this contains clay and gelatin to draw out the color even more, nice that it comes with an intensive conditioner to follow up with too.
I refreshed my actual ombré with a bleach bath thanks to your tips and it worked so well without even damaging my hair and I just wanted to thank you because I've never felt so good in my life!
I'm SO glad I found this channel! @BradRondo, I don't know if you'll see this because this post is at least a year after you made it. I've got a dilemma because MONTHS ago, I applied a Splat no bleaching, direct color for darker hair. I chose a gorgeous shade of dark blue. Now because of my natural auburn hair, there were violet under tones to the blue, which only showed in the sunlight. I wasn't mad because it looked pretty cool, really. Now, I'm trying to get rid of this direct dye. I tried the extra strength Color Oops to get this color out of my hair. Well, the Oops worked on my roots and the 3 to 4 inches of regrowth but, didn't do SQUAT about the old direct dye. You're right, the box and instructions contradicted each other. The Oops lightened my regrowth and one small section that had been bleached before I applied the dark blue direct color. The entire shaft of my hair is STILL the dark blue. Grrr! It looks like I'm going to have to use the lightener/developer/ shampoo and water method to finally evict this darn Splat for darker hair. I've subscribed to your channel. Wish me luck with getting this color out, lol!
I tried the vit c treatment (ascorbic acid powder mixed with shampoo) and it worked a charm! Left in for 40 mins. Rinsed out and did another wash with more shampoo. Did a final rinse with 1 part vinegar 3 parts water. Did a treatment mask with a blue tint to lift the orange tones. Great result! My hair was at least 2 shades darker than I had wanted, so I tried this in an attempt to lift the colour. I had grey roots and some highlights, all of which had been completely covered by the darker colour. The vit C treatment gave a beautiful even colour and brought back my highlights but no sign of any grey showing through!
Okay but what if I’ve died my hair for about 10 years now and have never had my natural ( dirty blonde ) color since then? I was red all last year until November and I’ve been brown since. Cut my hair to grow it out but I am just sick of it 😭 I want the color out. I feel like it would just take it to red
@@KassieShayee1996 I just tried this for 45 minutes on blue hair (have had blue hair for 3yearsish) and it lightened a little but did not remove the colour at all
Wtf. Yesterday I was searching on what can I do to make my semi permanent hair color come out quicker and I wake up to this video?! Brad, you are the ✨G O D✨ that watches over me. I am convinced.
I remember using a mix of effervescent vitamin tablets, honey and conditioner to take out a toner ("silver blond", it turned grey/green...) once and it worked amazingly! I left it on for ~1½ (with cap) and it was all gone after I rinsed it out 👏
..... so glad this video just popped up... tried to dye my hair blue and it’s green so this video is very much needed.. brad I’m so sorry that I did NOT think about the color wheel literally at all :(
My absolute FAVORITE color remover is Malibu CPR. It's so gentle with removing permanent color. Malibu has other great pigment removers, too. Their direct dye one is great, too.
i knew brad wouldn’t fail me , after split dying my hair purple and blue now i want the blue side pink and now i will be attempting a bleach bath 😚 thanks queeeeen!!!
Just wanna say, I tried a bleach bath on my undyed hair and was super pleased with the result. Disclaimer, the reason I did it is because my hair lightens insanely fast, it also fries that quickly, and my scalp hates bleach. In like ten minutes I got about five shades lighter. It’d be even if operator error wasn’t a thing, lol. Thank you for this video!
I read somewhere to put a packet of sweet n low...actual sweet n low in the pink packet, no subsitute!...into a bleach mixture to keep it from irritating your scalp.
@@MultiDaisy1995 some colours it does not remove. Red and Black are two of the colours that are the most stubborn for instance. I tried removing red to no avail

i literally bleached my hair 3 times in a row a week ago bc i had no idea how to get rid of my turquoise/blue-ish hair im so unlucky its unbelievable lmaooo
In my experience, bleaching blue hair can sometimes push the blue color deeper into the hair and turn it green. I was left with a turquoise color in my hair for the longest time that would not come out so I had to dye over it and then eventually cut it out. Diluting the bleach with other products like shampoo and developer (like the bleach bath in this video) can sometimes lift the pigment right out!!! Not sure how well it would work after multiple bleaches though, definitely use a bleach bath the first time if you're ever in this situation again!
I had a salon nightmare experience and left in tears! My hair was bleached so that it could be died LILAC, and she died my hair a VERY DARK purple. I tried color oops the same day and it turned my hair a radiant BLUE.
Basic suggestion: try a tiny bit of your hair before doing anything big. Especially if your hair has some complicated series of things you've diy'd on it. Personally I do my own hair but part of that is mine is short enough that the complexity is limited and my natural hair texture is extremely forgiving. (Also, I have the three panel bathroom mirror so I can see the back of my head, and I've gotten good at mixing direct dye and having reasonable expectations (I use darker colors at the roots even if I'm doing something close to white rather than try to get my roots that bleached in one go.) For getting vivid colors out of bleached hair I think the Joico color eraser (which is clearly not bleach free) works better than trying to use bleach, and I'm glad my hairdresser mentioned it. My hair is no longer than the cut Brad's got in the thumbnail and I still tried it out on a piece I cut off before I put it all over! I cannot fathom all these people I see with long hair who start applying shit not knowing the results. A hairdresser won't do something like that but they're drawing on experience (hopefully). At home you've got time to go in stages, do a test first!
Try Blank Canvas from Pulp Riot, as a stylist it’s my favorite semi/direct dye remover 😍 has lightening agents, can be used on the hair for up to 20 minutes, but is almost immediately effective, I typically only leave mine in for 10-15 minutes and I’m ready for my next unicorn adventure!! 💗
I used color oops on my hair the other day. And it removed the pink in my hair beautifully!! And my hair feels amazing. So I think it’s fine to use on semipermanent hair color. And the pink I used was super pink.
I got back my natural hair color after dyeing it with almost black permanent professional dye. I got it back with C vitamin and head and shoulders. I did that method for at least 5 times. After the first few I managed to fade out the black, but my hair was a faded red. My natural haircolor was mousybrown, so I kept doing the head and shoulders and vitamin c!! for me it was the full success. I managed to get my natural hair color back. I am so proud! I left in on my hair between 40 minutes and 1 hour. I left it once 2,5 hour, and it worked more, than when I left it on just for 1 hour. I used C vitamin ashes, not the tablets!!

my sister is a cosmetologist and i unknowingly bleached washed my hair once it was faded very lightly without telling her, which was a BIG mistake. i thought that this was okay because of this video. turns out that bleaching over blue pigments can drive them deeper into the hair. i noticed once my hair refused to lighten and it was too late. it turned bright green. my hair is now permanently stained bright green and cannot be lightened no matter what. i mean no disrespect to brad, he’s an amazing hairdresser but there’s not much out there about stained hair or how to fix it and this might be because it’s simply impossible if the pigment is driven deep enough into the hair. i feel like more people should know that this is a risk. if you have blue hair and don’t want to risk ruining your hair, i seriously suggest that you don’t do this. 😭 my hair was dyed with semi permanent color and i properly attempted to remove it using tons and tons of research. this has never happened to me until after using a blue shade and then bleach washing it to remove the faded color. i’ve dyed my hair tons of times and this has never happened, i take good care of my hair that way i can afford to play with new colors so this was very upsetting. the only mistake i feel that i made was listening to the advice given in this video. please guys, be careful.
I searched it up and it said 1-2 parts of developer to 1 part bleach powder unless ur bleach says otherwise,, I’m going to do a test strand rn so after I take it out I’ll let whoever sees this know lol .. UPDATE: my hair lightened a lot. I didn’t notice it at first but I saw the before and after pics and woah! It was originally like a dark azure and now looks like a light mint green with some yellow/blonde ! I’m gonna try again some other time and hopefully it will al get out! Be careful though bc it can still damage your hair. I don’t rly care all that much for my hair as long as it doesn’t fall out I’m fine but that’s just me. Update again: I cut my hair about shoulder length bc I wanted al the dead off so I cut it off and I’m gonna try again today.
As someone who attended cosmetology school, direct dyes and semi permanent dyes are not the same. Direct dye sits on top of the hair whereas semi permanent is a mixture of direct dyes and permanent dyes. Color Oops would only remove the pigments that have penetrated the cuticle (if any) and not any color sitting on top of the cuticle.
I have used color oops so many times. I love it, but also I hate how smelly it is and how drying it can be because you really have to shampoo your hair a ton so the color molecules still left in the strands don't expand and re-darken the hair. It's definitely better on permanent dyes, but I think it still lifts temporary dye because the yucky smelling sulfur that's in there is also technically a cleansing agent. I prefer the vitamin C for temporary dyes, but I found it also works on permanent color, too. The bleach bath, I'd stay away from since it's the most damaging to natural hair unless you intend to lighten your hair, but doing it wrong can give very obvious patches of color, especially if it's done near the roots.
@auburrito5168 Thanks for this explanation! I agree that the smell is awful. I've used it twice. The first time I washed immediately after because an expert said to, the second time i only rinsed because another expert said not to shampoo. Conditioned both times immediately after. First time, my hair felt SO soft. Not dry at all. Second time is now, so jury is still out.....
Already did the shampoo with 20 volume that was recommended to me at a hair product shop after my bleach and i had two little black spot and just washed my hair normally with this. It’s magic how it removed

This is exactly the video I needed! I last had my virgin medium blonde hair dyed permanent medium copper red in June 2019. Life happened so I didn’t really leave the house until February 2020, and then COVID hit and I haven’t touched it with color since. I now have virgin medium to light blonde hair (with grays!) from root to my shoulders, then I still have some reddish tint to my hair from my shoulders to my waistband. Since my stylist has gone out of business, and there’s not a single stylist near me that seems to do anything but blonde or black hair, I’m preparing myself for the worst- that I’ll have to remove what’s left of my old color and actually box dye my own hair.
@@Nic-em6el unfortunately no. I ended up having to go to a major international conference for work. I spent days online to find a new stylist because I just didn’t want to take the chance.
