If I remember correctly, maces aren't necessarily more powerful than swords or other weapons, they just have a different function. Maces were primarily wielded by nobles and rich people, which is why the scepter was originally a mace. Swords, axes etc. are fantastic against flesh, as you can just cut into your target, but eventually, they stopped being particularly effective, as armor was getting more and more advanced. And when plate armor hit the scene, swords were fairly useless, as the slashing couldn't penetrate the armor, or at least not effectively, although using the cross guard as a kind of hammer by gripping the blade was reasonably viable. And that's where maces or warhammers are effective. The hits bludgeoned the armor, so not only did the impact hurt by itself, it also made it harder to move in the armor if it's deformed. I'm not historically well versed, so I might be wrong, but this us what I remember reading, when I was researching weapons for my cleric. lol

Maybe lay a tarp or cloth down under the glass items that you plan to break so you can shake out the broken pieces into the garbage?

i love your humor My cousins and I would spend a lot of time in the small shop on the farm we build crossbows' out of old leaf springs once we figurer out the how to retimber them and the firing mechanism but the worst part was how to explain the holes in the back of the shop and where all the welding rods went that we used for arrows

Tip for throwing the spear: use your pointer finger and try to find the center of the spear and aim a litte higher than your target because it will always go litte lower
