Sticker books aren’t new but they’re totally cool and I’m glad a new generation is finding them. I wish I had my sticker book from when I was a kid in the 80s. Stickers for the 80s were a totally different ball game. Scented, puffy and really unique.
My elementary school teacher wouldn't push the stickers all the way down on our papers because she knew we would peel them up and put them in our sticker books. She always had the best scratch and sniff stickers too- the skunk, grass, tires, etc.
Oh? You have never seen reuseable sticker books? They were ALL the rage in the early 90's! We would all take our's to school and trade stickers with everyone. And collecting Sandylion stickers! With glitter, fabric or glow in the dark 🥰
Omg... rae... touch new markers are a scam. There is a company that maked the same mid quality markers under variations of the same name. Touch, touch new, etc. They have been doing this for probably about a decade. Maybe more. And their markers are for beginners. So sad you fell for the entry level scam
I don't know if I had a privilege childhood, but half of these supplies I owned growing up, the rainbow pencil and the stickers notebook were my favorites... so these weren't really something new for me, but again tik tok sometimes brings stuff back from back in the day
@_sugar_plum Wait, are you asking me what's up with the young generations, or are you asking me why I said "kids these days?" Your comment is so open. 😂
My only concern with Grabie is that I see a lot of the same products on Temu, so it makes me wonder if they are getting them from a place like temu, or if Temu is ripping off the products from Grabie
Temu is literally just ali express rebranded. Same rip off products that never perform as well as the originals. China loves ripping off everything and fooling people to spend money on their crap.
Its because they are mostly generic materials and companies buy them and just add their own logo and tags. It's very normal especially Chinese products. Have seen a lot of same products but with different names.
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical before I clicked this. But DANG what a great haul!! The rainbow pencils look so fun to work with. And I love me a solid watercolor set 😁 Also loving what you made with the supplies. Very *winter wonderland* ✨️❄️
Okay Ray, girl. Money save tip here. Those plastic sleeve flip files or whatever Americans call it. Use that as a sticker book. I've done it my whole childhood
Touch markers aren't new. They've been around a LONG time and are a typical marker that gets relabled often. I have a set from like 2012 that were Hobby Lobby branded "The Fine Touch" lol.
You're literally the first person I've ever known to talk about sticker anxiety. It always shocks people when I open up about feeling weird about stickers, it's awesome to know I'm not the only one lol
Sticker anxiety is not fun. :( I was gifted two sets of Animal Crossing decal stickers after New Horizons came out and it took me TWO YEARS to commit myself to placing them somewhere.
Oh man, rainbow pencils and sticker books.. my childhood is coming back. :'D Dunno how to feel about it. We used to trade stickers in elementary school, and most everyone had one of those sticker books.. The more exotic a sticker you had, the more trade power it had. Stuff like cork stickers, holograms, etc. all the fancy stuff. I used to collect Pokémon stickers from a brand of chewing gum and almost had all of the first generation.
LOL, those bastards showed a marker bag with 240 (15x16) markers in it! 🤣 My first thought when I saw the commercial was there is no way that's a bag with only 100 markers in it, and imo it was very obvious there are much more markers in that bag, so I had to pause the video and count the rows. 😆 To be fair, when you are not thinking about it it is indeed easy to be tricked into believing you are getting more than what you actually do, even with the number 100 being right there. 🙂
I have like 7 sticker albums from my childhood (I'm 28) it's wild that you didn't know they existed. I'm happy you know about them now they are so useful
The touch markers actually have more parts! The set on the advertisment have much more which is what I got, touch is good for some artist on budgets(Me) I can make some decent art with them.
"Misleading and not truthful" the epitome of chinese business practices 😂 I'll definitely stick to my Ohuhu markers and I'm going to have to check out those extra tiny fine tip paint markers!
rae im really worried about you, you haven't posted in a month. I've been a fan for awhile and ago almost every day to check if you've posted again, I'm really worried and I hope your okay. please update us
The sticker anxiety is REAL! As a kid I would tape a sticker to paper, then cut the paper to match the sticker, then tape the sticker to my desired location. 😂 So much work for a $0.50 sticker!
It’s funny since I actually have and bought some of these supplies before you made this video. I’d actually recommend buying the transparent Sticky Notes from Dollar Tree when they have them in the stationary section. You get 100 for $1.33. Legit bought five packs and it’s done wonders for my traditional art sketches since if I make something I dislike but can’t erase too well I can just draw over it. I can even use my double sided tape dispenser on them and pretty much fully stick it down
I’m totally getting those fine tip acrylic markers. I work with adolescents and we use a lot of paint/paint markers. Perfect for making holiday decor. Rae always doing us a solid by testing out products.
Chloe Rose called the Grabie subscription box the worst she had seen. But their stand alone products seem to do better. As for the name, phonetically it would be like "gray bee" but I've only heard it said "grabby". So who knows 😅
In Germany it was normal to exchange stickers in such sticker books in elementary school. I even have one from my mom from 2000. Everyone had one of those 😂
I've got the same brand of touch-one's, I still use them to this day which i mix with other brands of alcohol markers too (along w/sharpies & posca's).
My favorite are the color pencils with multiple colors in the lead. There is a brand Koh-I-Noor that is famous for pencils like this. Id look at those for a wide variety and artist quality.
Ngl seeing you make that piece at the end really reminds me that you don't need super expensive and fancy supplies to make good art, you just have to play to the strengths of what you do have, as well as your own strengths.
Rae, I wanted to say thank you because I was sobbing over nothing a few minutes ago while watching RU-vid and right when ur video popped up it calmed me down and helped me so much thank you so much!
Additional comment on the sticky notes: you need to use specific pens or permanent markers to write anything on it. Do not use any water based pens or markers. It would not stay at all.
Surely I wasn’t the only one who loved stickers and had a precious sticker collection in my two sticker books as a kid? 😅 There’s also a bunch of the multicolored pencils from various brands… Like Koh-i-noor
I first saw those Grabie watercolors on Chloe Rose's page then ALLLL over Tiktok and now here. A few weeks ago I clicked on the little orange shopping cart on some girls page (I have no idea who) and got the set for $15.62. I have to say so far I like them. As far as those rainbow pencils, I already have a few rainbow pencils I don't use but you have inspired me to get them out and use them! So thanks! Also thanks for always showing us art supplies. I don't even think I could list all the things I have learned from you!
Woah the rainbow pencils are such a memory and im not even that old 😭 if you had one of those in primary school, everyone would want one. I remember how they had like the primary colours on specific sides of the tip so if yo only wanted one colour u had to tilt it to that side. OH AND THE REUSABLE STICKERS, I havent heard of this stuff in like 10 yrs why havent I heard abt them until now??
The Alcohlic Markers from a Netherland Chain called Action has pretty amazing Quality for a cheap price the even better than my Wish Markers and they have been pretty surprisingly good. The Markers you got are the Touch ones i bought on wish
you are a great artist! i’ve only discovered you recently and i’ve been binge watching your videos. ps. anyone notice that her artwork ended up being the exact opposite of the song that played during it? idk i just find that funny :-)
You have made my day better. Haven't seen you in awhile and then you drop us with your presence on Thanksgiving. Well I am thankful for you today Rae. ❤️
Over here the Grabie sets are really expensive but you can get identical sets with a different name at a quarter the price. Seems to be standard Chinese drop shipping.
Grabie is a really good art brand. Haven’t used it but another RU-vid artist, Scott Christian Sava, has used them and likes them. They’ve also donated to at risk LGBTQIA+ youths and has made a beginner watercolor set for 20$ (I believe it’s 20$). Similar to Ohuhu, they’re trying to make art supplies not only affordable but great quality as well.
I can't believe that you have missed out on the stickerbooks! It was the biggest hype ever when I was young (born in 96) and everyone traded stickers back and forth like crazy x3
i had a sticker collection book when i was a kid. they were super popular in the 90s. i am excited to see blank sticker collection books are coming back
I"m a little curious what happened between then and now that your review of the markers changed so drastically... The brand you use is the same as the brand you got from Temu, even if the brand name isn't directly credited it's on the bag itself. Otherwise a very interesting review...I might get the water colors for christmas.
@@MxS1996 No. In a temu video she had Touch brand markers and said they were comparable to Ohuhu but in this video, it's the same Touch logo on teh markers but now she's saying they aren't that good which I find interesting.
Perhaps...which is part of why I'm so curious...like, I almost wanna see a video now of getting those Touch markers from varied sources and testing all of them, you know? Is the issue with the source, the seller, the host? is it a time thing? and i say that cuz like...it seems like that Touch brand might not be a registered trademark in the sense that say Crayola or Ohuhu are... i'm just so stupidly curious.@@MxS1996
or was it a product chain issue...considering the uh.... shady sources like Sweatshops and the like that cause dthe issue...did they have to find a new source a little quickly or was it the same supplier at some point as a brand like ohuhu but had to change when Ohuhu became a more official brand which I know Rae wouldn't know that But like...I wonder
I've been WAITING for you to review the "alcohol" markers. I bought them on Shein for like $10 for a larger quantity aaaaand I felt like they fell short. They didn't blend well and I could swear that they weren't alcohol based. Literally the ones I bought from Ross were better 🙄 I just wanted to hear your final review since you've used nicer quality markers
Not alcohol based? Hmmm....I remember browsing through temu and they had a set of ink refills from a brand called "Touch Great" (I think), though they say it's a universal marker refiller so you can refill any marker from any brand (I'm skeptical about it), but it said that it was an oil based ink. Could it be that the markers you used where oil based, like those refills?
@@MxS1996 Yes, same brand/bag as the one in the video, Touch. I don’t think the listing blatantly said alcohol based but I noticed a big difference in comparison to the ones I bought from Ross: Creative Expert. They don’t even have a smell, it just feels like a regular marker 😕
@@atinybruh true lol I didn’t expect much honestly but I have found nice gel pens on there. It is really hit or miss, just have to know that it may indeed be terrible quality 🙈 which it was…it’s fine though I’m just using them as regular markers
@@sracln97 yeah, i ordered some pencils form Ali express when i was just beggining to take my drawings seriously, and about 100 pencils for 20€ was realy good, then i bought better pencils 120 for 60, same shit lmao just better packaging, kinda regret it lmao
I've drawn some illustrations with Touch markers, and I thought that the problem with blending was with my technique...cause it was my first experience with alcohol based markers. Now, I see that the problem is really with them
Rae have you seen the fluorescent transparent sticky notes AND the same kind of tape in neon colours and transparent material. I don't know if Temu do them but Amazon certainly does! They are a total gamchanger! Thanks for this video, it's awesome as are you! God bless you and your other half. Have a great weekend!
I have bought some alcohol based markers. 60 for £24 of which they also have a 120 pack aswell. It's TOUCHdayu twin tip markers and it's pretty juicy and not that streaky (from what i've seen). I haven't done much blending with it though. I will one day get the biggest pack and test the blendability. Hope you are well. I am 10 days after 1 of 2 planned foot surgeries and putting my colouring kit into good use. Xx
Amazing as always! since I started watching your videos, I was really inspired and my mind got more colourful❤💫 Thank You Rae!👑 anyway, what are the background music you use?😅
Video idea : two pieces of art one made with the best of the best art supplies you bought (from you old video, hawl, test) and one with the worst of the worst ❤
The stickernotes would have been really helpful when I was learning anatomy. :D The multicoloured pencils and the sticker album are not new, I've had (and still have) them since I was little. ^^' Your picture turned out really pretty. ^^
Thank god I saved sticker books from the 90’s because for some reason as stickers and bullet journaling was trending, the sticker books were absolutely non-existent. And a good one is hard to come by, idk why.
Omg I first found your channel when I watched your trying rare oil paints videos they were fun and used to binge watch them😂🧡, now I myself paint I love oil painting and have my own YT Channel🥰. Edit: can you do another video on testing rare paints would be nice❤️
Rainbow pencils used to be all over the place when I was a kid! You could grab one for like 2-3 dollars, I had so many over the years😅 they were usually better quality than other pencils too
The first thing I thought of when she tested the paint was with the light fastness was. Like, it looks really bright and pretty now, but I'm wondering if it's going to fade in like a month at that price point.
The Touch New/Five markers were actually my first set of markers. They are OK but I wanted brush nibs so quickly upgraded to Ohuhu and ended up donating these to my young nephew who loved joining me doing colouring when he was younger.
I actually have the touch markers but in a pack of 48.they are so good especially at filling in large areas,I just love how juicy they are, if you have any questions, ask me!
Transparent sticky notes?! Oh my god, they just transfer like that??? Whoa! I also wouldn’t expect them to be 100% transparent, for some reason that thought feels unsettling and also reminds me of seran wrap
The touch markers are acutally sold for 20 bucks on taobao aka chinese amazon. I bought them few years before at $30 for 300 colours, quality is questionable tho.
