The B&B wasn’t that much more in price and overall much better in every aspect. The store brand didn’t give the food a bad taste, but the difference in burn time, temp, and cleanliness was very obvious!

Unfortunately over here in Ireland we don't have the same level of choice as you guys, but after using cheap supermarket coals I now only buy genuine Weber lump and briquettes. The slight difference in price is negated by the heat given and the length of cook I can now achieve. And I have noticed that there is a lot less ash left after my cooks. Thanks for the interesting video man. 🇮🇪 🇺🇸

Really great video, I did this a couple days ago between B&B and Kingsford. B&B did stay lit longer and less start up smoke. Whenever I light the Kingsford I make sure to close all the doors etc and not let anyone close to it. However I use both still... B&B for longer smokes mainly and Kingsford for everyday things even smoking. Also B&B here in California is $16 for one bag of 17.6lbs vs $22 for 40lbs of a Kingsford 2 Pack. What always gets me is B&B being bigger in size and I always think I need more 🤣

The possibilities are endless. What utensil cleans your grill grates best? Which fire starter last longest? What temperature probe is most accurate/gets to a stable temperature fastest once inserted into meat? Thank you for being original and creating content for the average backyard bbq.

Thanks for this, quality of the charcoal makes a lot of sense of importance and the burgers look great 👍 . I'm glad to learn how to grill and properly, when I do get a grill. Have you ever made and tried the brisket macaroni and cheese? I've never tried that. Only made very good baked macaroni and cheese from scratch and had brisket had restaurants. Yet, I didn't know brisket macaroni and cheese was a thing. I had checked out a few video videos the other day and it'll be cool if your channel also make a video on that dish someday? Happy New Year's ✨

I bought 2 bags of Royal Oak Super Sized and had a huge cloud of white nasty smoke for a long time. I was very mad because I have used Royal Oak Lump coal and love it. B&B briquettes are the way to go.

To me the Kingsford original has that same thick smoke and not a pleasant smell. But in the end it turns out okay, ace hardware near me has just about any B&B you can think of, so I will probably be shopping there more often.

There are a lot of brands that have that unpleasant smell unfortunately! That’s why even though I am affiliated with B&B I always thought it was the best and that’s no lie.

One of the better comparison of charcoal. I noticed your B&B ballcap right off. But I can honestly say you were fair and your tests showed the strengths and weaknesses without bias. I've been wanting to buy a bag of B&B, but I have to use up my Kingaford first. I don't believe I will go back to Kingsford after I start using B&B. Thanks For The Demonstration.

I've never tried different types of charcoal. I only use Kingsford for cooking with the Weber Kettle or Weber Smokey Mountain. From watching this video now you've got me curious, might be time to start testing. I get a two pack of 18 pound bags at Walmart for a little over 19 dollars.

I think it’s worth trying! To me, I’m not a scientist but that start up smoke we got on this Store Brand charcoal can’t be a good thing. The smell is so foul!

I used Kingsford for years before trying B&B briquettes a couple of years ago. Definitely a superior briquette. If you are doing low and slow the superior performance of B&B is even more revealing. It’s like a lump briquette hybrid.

B&B is heavier and denser. If you’re smoking, especially using a small firebox like in a Masterbuilt portable, B&B can’t be beat.

B&B is next on my list to try, I did notice a big difference when I tried Fogo briquettes vs Royal oak classic briquettes!

Great video. Loved the comparison. I buy store brand in a pinch, but I’ve been all about B&B briquettes since I tried them a year or two back. Nice, clean even burn. I also use their wood chunks, and mesquite lump charcoal for hot and fast stuff like chicken, pork chops and steaks. $8.99 a bag at Academy here in North Texas, or $1.50 more than store brand at any big box store. $6.99 for mesquite lump, and $7.99 for a big bag of wood chunks. Truly can’t beat the value.

To be fair your placing a high-end product vs. One of HEBs generics of charcoal, try matching B&B with HEB "Grand Champion" charcoal for a store bought brand. I see that last a lot longer then HEB Briquets , and quality is better. Awesome vids tho.

I see what you’re saying. But, the point is for ~$2.00 more you’re getting almost 2lbs more charcoal that burns cleaner, hotter, and longer! Also, if you catch the end of the video I do say that to me, it pays to use name brand charcoal. That also includes other big brands! I was sincerely shocked in the differences when looking at them side by side. My major focus of the video was that it does matter what charcoal you cook with!

Great comparison but I noticed the b&b charcoal was stacked against the store bought spread around. I know the b&b definitely burns hotter and last longer by the size.

Store Brand is what I was comparing, not Store Bought! Store Brand is something that the store makes. So if you ever go to Circle K and pick up charcoal and it’s got Circle K on the bag, that’s what I mean!

To be fair…are you sponsored by B&B? Also, the store brand was flat on the grate after pouring. The B&B was more mounded towards the middle, so that would naturally make the B&B hotter. Just playing devils advocate. I do like that B&B smokes a lot less.

But if you catch the end of the video I do mention that and I also mention that the point of the video was that it matters what type of charcoal you use and it will pay off to use a name brand over a store brand! That includes any other big brands. I’d use those first! But my loyalty obviously does remain with B&B!

@@GulfCoastSmoke We know you are a B&B fan. What other premium brands do you recommend. You tested B&B charcoal against Kroger charcoal. You tested a Mercedes against a Kia. Yes B&B charcoal is better than Kroger charcoal. Didn’t need a video to show this. I subscribed. Cheers!!
