Thanks for people that have let me know that the plate separators are actually really helpful for people with ocd & autism, I was not aware of that when filming as it had no packaging & could only base it on something similar novelty I have for kids in my gadget box designed for fussy eaters. You can use it for that too if you have an iron or pan for making the thin waffle/sugar cones. They come off of the iron soft while they are hot and are usually shaped around a cone shaped mold to cool and harden. Pop the warm "waffle" into the taco bowl instead and that should work stonkin' for a sundae!

Yes! My brother told me this hack a few years ago and I will never go back to microwave reheated pizza again. Sometimes, I can get the slice crispier than when it was fresh.

I always wrap the pizza slices completely in tinfoil with leaving a small air vent, sprinkle them a tiny bit with water first, then put them in the oven. Works for pizza buns too.

The plate separaters could be useful for blind people, because they could serve as a guide for where on the plate which food is.

Yes and also older or disabled people who struggle to feed themselves, it stops them from knocking the food off the plate and makes it easier to move it onto the fork/spoon

Not totally accurate at least for most blind people but good thought! Blind people usually use a clock face to know where their food is. Or general directions. For example, “your plate is in front of you. Your burger is on the left and your fries are on the right. Your cup is to the right of your plate.” Or “your plate is in front of you. Burger at 9. Fries at 3. Your cup is to the right.” (I can see a bit so I just use my vision, but many of my fellow blind / visually impaired friends use these systems.) when they’re at a restaurant or otherwise can’t be told where things are, it’s down to touch and taste. It would be great for people with autism, sensory processing disorder, or anxiety disorders though!

@@pianobooks42 I knew about those methods, but I thought of blind kids who are too young to know left and right or the clock. But you are right, there are people with other disabilities who also can profit from this utensil. I work at a school for children with several kinds of disabilities and I know some, who use something like that or would maybe profit from using it.

Yeah, becoming bipedal means our ability to birth was compromised. Add in the huge head size for increased intelligence, and you get ripping and tearing. Worse if a vaginal birth isn’t possible.

The food separators are pretty cool. I actually typically eat off from metal cafeteria trays because my food motto is "separate and identifiable." As a recovered (recovering?) anorexic, this helps me to eat and helps my husband to know what I've eaten.

I always appreciate the shoutout about gadgets helping those with disabilities. I'm losing muscle mass due to a neurodegenerative disease and have tendonitis in both hands, so kitchen gadgets and multifunction appliances make my life so much easier! And I definitely think that little grater would be best for parmesan cheese :)

The food separators are perfect for people with disabilities who need their food served in specific ways for sensory reasons, also people with motor skill impairments that need assistance getting the food on the utensil. I've also seen them used tons for picky toddlers :)

Aside from what's been covered, the dams are good to keep sauces from making crispy coatings soggy before you get to eat them. Also the pizza thing's upside down. Maybe Phoebe should be vetting all your gadget usage. :)

Vicki Hankins have you thought about getting a bento style lunchbox container? Cheap ones with lids that come completely off are sold at dollar stores and big stores like Walmart or target and can be cleaned easily. They have high walls so they can hold a lot and come in all sorts of styles. Some are tiny and kids themed, but they also have larger ones in plain colors or just clear plastic. They come in a bunch of different shapes for different meals too.

He will never learn. He always thinks the gadget is awful but most of the time it is his inability to realize he has incorrectly operated it. Why is he so lacking of common sense and cooking ability. He's been doing this for 10 years but just can't grasp it but dismisses the fact lts his fault. Im a self taught cook and became a head chef in 3 years. I know some people have there particular talents but even not being talented at cooking he is such a slow learner. I want him to do well that's why I comment so much but he dosnt read ar take into consideration constructive advice. I like his funny mistakes but sometimes it's just a shambles.

I love that you always stay aware of things helping people with disabilities, but I was very disappointed in your portrayal of people who don't like their different foods touching. I have Aspergers syndrome, but I'm lucky enough not to have that particular quirk, however I know that many people on the autism spectrum are physically discomforted by their different foods touching. It's not to be fussy, and it's not to be wierd, but it's because of the way their brains are wierd (the fact that wierd and wired are spelled the same always confuses me...).

That screw gadget has actually been around for ages, i remember one of my culinary teaches in college had one from the 60s. What it works really well for is potatoes! Itll give you two corkscrew pieces that you can fry, or if you do 1 potato 1 sweet potato, seperate the two parts, then screw them together, you can have a white and orange corkscrew french frie

The red handle on the spiralizer comes off so you can pull it through the bottom and not pull the cutting circles back through and ruin your hard work lol

The “small glass of water with pizza” reheating trick isn’t about steam. The water absorbs a significant amount of the microwave energy, preventing the water left in the dough from over-heating and getting all “microwavey “ because it was heated too quickly.

I don’t have autism or diagnosed ocd, but the food separators would be so helpful for me because I absolutely cannot stand when my food is touching. I have no clue why, but it’s so unsettling to me and it’s very bothersome. I typically use food trays, kinda like the ones you get in school. The separators would be more convenient for when I’m not at home.

Barry brings me hope. The food separating things are brill for some people with Autism, who cannot stand having different food items touching 😊As someone who is autistic and can't stand food touching, they will really be useful 😊. REALLY handy if you've got veg and something crispy on a plate together, stops the crispy foods from being soggy

I'd use those food separators for coleslaw and beetroot salad. Those tend to bleed in to everything. I would of course only use them in secret, with the lights off, under the table as not to embarrass myself 😂

I don't need my food separated by dividers but I also don't like sausage/bacon touching maple syrup or juice from fruit touching other food on the plate. Then again I also don't combine everything on my plate and eat it in one forkful so maybe I'm the odd one

haha Taco Starfish lol yea you can make taco salads in them. where you put all the ingredients that go into a taco or a burrito into it and eat it like a salad and break off pieces of the shell to eat with it. Or after it comes out of the over coat it in a cinnamon/sugar mix and you can use it as like an ice cream bowl.

It's also so much lower in sugar that it's ok as a treat on a low carb diet too. I make a chocolate mousse with a bit of that, some whipped cream and cream cheese. Not low calorie but definitely low carb! I think I prefer the taste of it to actual Nutella, actually. It's a little less cloyingly sweet.

The orange food dividers are actually good for autistic people such as myself as sometimes we do not like it when different foods touch Even tho it will in our stomachs I don't really know the reason for it I just can't let my carrots touch my mashed potatoes and let them touch my meat even if I put them all on one fork at once it's strange when I think about it

Hey Barry :) those bottle tops are used to seal off packets. So you open the top, pull an opened packet through the hole, open the packet so it loops over the opening of the bottle top, then use the lid to seal off as a create a fresh seal :)
