I have a 15 year old with autism . This man is 100% somewhere on the spectrum. Thank you for being polite to him. Not everyone is understanding of their certain quirks and conversational skills.
It’s good to be sensitive to those who have mental illnesses but it’s also a two way street. They also need to practice being a respectful member of our society. Having a disability cannot be an excuse to not even try to modify our behavior. Good luck to you and your son
Bro you can't diagnose autism from a short video clip. You have no idea how this guy acts day to day. He might just have social anxiety or is nervous and uncomfortable trying to haggle and sell his stuff. He definitely doesn't "100%" have anything based on this video
@ButterBallTheOpossum obvious you have not spent much time around people on the spectrum. Even ADHD is part of the spectrum which is easy to spot. When you know, you know
This was my first thought too. Especially the avoiding eye contact, it's a dead give away. I think he did really well, haggling with a professional trading post owner isn't an easy feat even for a neurotypical person to do, let alone someone with extra difficulties on top. Good on him and good on the owner for being respectful and understanding.
Peter is so friendly and professional with everyone, I think that man might be autistic. Bless his heart I like how Peter is able to do business with all walks of life.
Definitely autism. And why people feel the need to make fun of someone being neurodivergent, is baffling. The biggest problem with our society today is our inability to celebrate people that may be different than ourselves, and recognize our common humanity. It’s all about the memes
Man first thing I thought honestly just from being around a couple of my autistic homies those really be the homies can get the same kinda honesty from anyone else
Also, it was very honest the man spoke up with the one online listing was his own and he didn't pretend it was proof of independent interest from others
Mr Funko Pop appeared to be on something, couldn't make eye contact fidgeting... didn't even have the certificates with him???.. if you're going to take something to Pawn / trade shop you really ought to have everything with you.. not try to fish for fighting an outside collector in the area.... definitely an Odd Fellow...LAXVESPA
Peter is such a good guy. Treats everyone with respect no matter what. People on here commenting about the funko guy “being on drugs” or “high out of his mind” need to chill. It’s called social anxiety. So quick to judge 🤦♂️
Nothing wrong with judging. That's how people maneuver in society. For instance, these guy judge Pete as being an idiot when he tried to sell that stuff for that absurd price.
@@WillmobilePlus Nothing wrong with Judging, sure, but one can just as easily manoeuvre throughout society without outright judging, and instead, being inquisitive and empathetic.
He wanted $70-100 for three and you offered him $50 for two. That was a solid deal. You offered him $10 for the one that sold for $12. Lol Couldn’t have made it any better. Honestly $70 for those three is a good price you could have made a quick $80-100 off of that probably.
@@bryantanderson430 yes and then he said he needed my full name and that’s the last I heard. In a previous video he said he’s been having multiple people claim posters so I think that’s what happened. Pretty much got screwed he should have us screenshot our comment or something for proof.
@@bryantanderson430 really sucks man I was super excited about it I love the roots. Congratulations on your poster widespread panic is also a great band.
Funko screwed its collectors by creating one of the greatest brand fatigues of all time. They overproduced them into oblivion and we're all tired of looking at them. Their value has collapsed significantly over the last couple years as well.
@@sweetlikechocothai ok... welcome to what collecting is. its a hobby filled with resale lmao the whole point is to get all of whatever youre collecting. items cant be on shelves forever at retail
@@2000Peaceoutno, he’s right. Collecting is different than buying. If you’re buying shit off the shelves and keeping it piled up, that’s not collecting - you’re just making bad purchases at retail value, expecting the retail value to magically go up.
Only 5 bucks for Marc Alaimo? Gul Dukat does not approve. If only those damn Bajorans workers could see everything he did for them, they would surely pay more than 5 credits for his holopicture.
Not only "collectors" ... If I'm correct this is a pawn shop, so ....... just a souped up junk yard for stuff nobody wants but have been press ganged by "marketing" to believe it has an intrinsic value. NOT for nothing that where you find this stuff is on the ..... MARKET. Market - Marketing: Get the vibe ? LOL. Its all about the offer and demand. You see brand new rubbish in shops being sold as "collectors" what ever that means. Usually a plastic item with a brand name on it.
"What someone is willing to pay for it" is overused... Some people are unwilling to pay anything, even if it is very valuable in the marketplace. REALTORs also pull this crap. They act like if a property doesn't sell in the first week of their listing, it's not worth the asking price.
"professional Funko pop appraiser" 🤣 this is the modern day beenie baby, worth whatever some tool is willing to pay. At least they are packaged. Glad I missed this craze tho, especially during a recession when soon they will be worth a couple bucks each.
I collect pop's , but never spend more than $15 on any. And only collect what I personally like. But I also thought long ago it was a fad and would fizzle out. But it hasn't. Beanie babies basically were popular only for like 4 - 5 year's 97-2002 then overnight BB that were worth $1,000 were selling for $10 and that's if you were lucky. Meanwhile pops have been popular for over 10 year's. Will it last another 10 year's 🤷
@@2Guys1ControllerShow he's nowhere nearly as successful and kind of annoying. He buys junk how is he as good as the pawn stars crew even before the show lol
That dude is a serial killer. Super super creepy vibes. Weird asff situation. That girl was like his sis or a Stockholm syndrome victim. There are those. These people just live far away fork Major city that he asks like that. But dude still a creep.
My husband and I enjoy your channel. It’s funny when we started watching; we both said hey he’s in Crystal Lake,IL. We used swim at Crystal Lake county park years ago. My husband is from Elgin and I from Streamwood. Small world 🌍
I always enjoy when Pete looks up similar items on Ebay and shows the sellers... and yet they continue to ask for a crazy over the top price or act like somehow Pete is wrong or trying to underprice their items. Pete, you are a master at keeping your composure. I'd probably tell them to GET OUT...
The reason he doesn't is because you have to play the long game. Yeah, those people are annoying but if he's respectful and nice and gives them a real number, they argue and then leave and what do they do if they can't find a buyer anywhere else? They're going to go back to the nice respectful guy that gave them a solid offer even if it was lower than they were hoping.
This guy is super honest and super fair with his offers. Our local pawn shops barely even wanna buy off of you and then give you like a quarter of eBay sold comps on the things they will buy.
@@Cheap_Grey_Plastic the rip off merchants want to get it ofr 25% of what they would sell it for.... CH lowballs for about 40 to 50%of what he would sell it for
@@nicotoscani1707 I'm not sure you understand- the standard industry rate is 25-33%. That's not a scam, that's just ideal business conditions- and it's been that way for generations. It's considered fair due to having immediate cash in hand and the expected risk of taking on inventory long-term. I agree that CH is MORE than fair most of the time, and the only times he is not is if something is worth WAY more than he expects.
@@Cheap_Grey_Plastic bro, ebay is easy to use and easy to sell on.. these pawnshop traders need to up their rates or get swallowed by convenience of pickup and delivery at fair exchange prices
"Awe", well he shouldn't be trying to do transactions like this then. I fully expecting half of you to post something stupid like: "You should just give him money and let him keep the Funkos, Pete! He looks like he is really having a hard time!".
FUNKO POP's are worthless. My 30 year niece and her husband collect this crap and think they are going to retire with the 200 they have already purchased. They aren't an investment.
They're definitely the kind of thing that people will have to pay you to take off their hands later on. Collectibles are only as good as they are purely because people didn't have the idea to collect them, and years later they became a marketable item. Beanie babies were a thing because there was one specific rare model of a beanie baby that sold for a lot, and after that everyone got the idea to collect them, and any beanie baby after the collection fad started became worthless even years later, they aren't even worth the material they're made of.
@@AnxiousSoul so you're saying he seems autistic, again, if he's not autistic you are being rude. Hold on.... Are you autistic? It seems like you are...
Advice: dont clean antiques before buying.. leave it looking dirty and cheap, you can talk them down more. You start wiping it down and making it look nice, they'll start seeing your interest and move up on price
I got a Roku device back in the day from a yard sale for 1 dollar went home and it was signed in to there Netflix account and we had Netflix for free for like 2 years since no one reset it. Him resetting that TV brought back memories
that's the problem when collectors sell their items at pawn shops. They want retail value on them. And they always think it's worth much more than they actually are
@@steadychasingmoneybands6213 They're definitely businessmen rather than salesmen, they'll make you feel like something you have is worthless so you'll sell it for pennies, then they sell it for $200 to someone who doesn't understand that it's actually only worth $100. I'd never trust them on their word no matter how honest they are purely because they have motive to want to lie to me.
yeah the funko pop guy is one of my lot ( I'm Autistic ) thank you for not taking the piss and just dismissing him but actually taking the time to explain
God I hate those stupid, basic looking things. I'm amazed they're as popular as they are. "You know how people like action figures with more points of articulation and detail? Let's design these blobby, simple things with weird dead eyes that look like a 3rd grade art project/an alien/human hybrid that just barely resemble the original character". On a side note, that cat is adorable, lol.
12:10 I think that cat senses that little boy is a good kid! First of all, he waved respectfully instead of immediately trying to pet or grab the cat. Then the cat got up and gave all his calm attention to the boy. Sweet kid. Cute cat!
I'm new to yur channel and I've been binge watching most of my evening and still watching your vids and it's 3:47am here in Illinois, Were just 4 hours and 42 minutes from Poplar Grove and Crystal Lake :D
Grew up during the beanie baby craze. Funkos seem like the same thing to me. Obviously, yes, certain pops have true value. But I know a few people that have giant collections of shit and think it's worth something.
Back in the early 2000s there was alot of gimmicks like that flag book, my grandmother had golden stamps like that, and all the state quarters in a book like that .. it seems like the subscription model was what they were trying to push back then
mandc20022 I remember that too. It was actually really cooler to see the states build up. When they came out. I think we completed it. It was pretty cool. I have to ask my mom about the book.
Mr funko brotha is likely on the spectrum , and I think he handled the situation just as well as Peter. He thought what he had was worth more, it’s never pleasant news finding out otherwise. Attempted to renegotiate, then asked for some advice . Proud of you Mr Funko bro.
anyone who is legit asking if a "funko pop inspector" exists .......is NOT living in the real world or playing with a full deck. LOL. Pete, you should have a tv show - a lot of the people who come into your store are kind of kooky.
@keving3947 my point went right over your head.........and anyone who buys into that nonsense is the "goober". you better take a LOOOOONG look in the mirror.
@RichardHead12 he SPECIFCALLY asked for a "funko pop inspector" - not what you're talking about. he had already had them graded - that was in the video too - maybe watch the video before making a foolish reply......... edit: and THAT makes you the real "goober".
My fur baby pecco loves you he watches your shows all the time with me. I have never seen a dog that watches so much TV mainly your show. When honey and ruby comes on there he stares at it and watches them all day..lol.. he loves them.....
People never understand how pawns make money on this. It isn't your right to have them buy your stuff for YOUR price. I recently tried to sell a book I paid $60 for to a book store that offers fair prices and they offered me $15 because they said they could sell it for $30 based on recent comps. They are a business, not your personal collectible service.
Gas cans... "She always finds these in the trash". SURE, I always find nice jerry cans in the trash too; if that's what we're calling people's garages now. Always wondered how pawn shops sly their way through stolen goods.
They guy with the funkopops was autistic. You can tell right away with the hand gestures and lack of eye contact. There are more signs as well if you pay attention.
