Yep you got a bit excited about the tractor but I think I would have let the other guy get stung by the loader. Then he has a loader and probably no tractor to put it on. You do not need a loader to sell a good looking and running tractor. Love driving the tractors but no real use nor place to store one correctly. So I just dream. Thanks for sharing. Lets see the final product.
Crazy D should've stuck the other guy with the loader and then contacted him about buying the brackets (which are still attached to the tractor) at HIS price.
I usually have the other problem of letting things go because I had a "hard number" to stop at. But, that's what makes auctions fun. I'm a big fan of Big Iron personally. They represent their items pretty good. Best deal I've ever got on something was at a rottinghaus auction on a drill. I was so happy I got it. I had been looking for one like it for years.
I wouldn't worry about making money on it because I'd keep the lil fella...then again, I'm not trying to run a tractor business. I've never bought a tractor through an online auction...the ones that I have were bought at live farm sales or through classified ads. However, I did recently get into a bidding war on Ebay over a vintage (U.S.A. made still in its FACTORY SEALED package) Schrade LB7 knife. Yes, I won the item, yes, I paid a little (not much but still) too much and, yes, I knew that I was paying too much. But I WANTED that knife and it became a matter of pride after a few bids. I've actually had other collectors in my area offer me more than what I paid but that knife is going to my grandson in a few years when he's old enough. That way, my grandson and I can have matching knives! The part about the Edelbrock fuel pump making the lil fella go faster gave me a chuckle!
I have one of those. A 1964 model. Love the little tractor for small stuff around the farm. When stuff gets real have to bring the big boy out of the shed though.
There's still a little room for profit. These were great tractors. And adding that loader will definitely up the price. I don't like it when people runs up the bids.
I had my first experience with an outdoor auction, last month. I sure am glad I watched a number of videos concerning auctions. Took some good advise and set an amount for each item I was interested in. I can see it is very easy to get caught up in the, I am going to lose attitude, and over bid. I had to catch myself a few times, or I would have went home with some stuff and paid way over new prices for them.
That 424 looks like the 444 they were built across the pond and shipped in pieces and assembled in Kentucky I have a yellow 444 could be a 2444 industrial but not sure yet
What kind of auction would take the loader off and sell it separately? That would be like taking the wheels off a car and selling them separately. That's an auction everybody should walk out of
It's pretty common around here for them to sell the loader separate from the tractor I actually don't know too many auctioneers that leave them as one unit it's all a ploy to make more money at the auction
Interesting tractor my late dad bought brand new a 1963 McCormick International B414 Loader tractor Desiel 40 hp plus paid $3.500 for came with trip bucket also fork for 6 square bales in triangle too do hay or straw bales load too and excellent tractor too!
Well, buyer beware. Online is a little risky. Give it some love and some elbow grease to clean it up. Tune on it and smooth it out as best you can. You'll not get 40% net profit, but you'll more then break even. Learning experience for sure. I'm thinking it's about a 40 hp tractor in '64-'68 year range per Steiner catalog. First two numbers of the model number is about the horse power.
Good day from Ont. The price of tractor was OK, but 1600 for loader, I think was out of line. My dad bought 434 for 3500 cdn with loader. Good luck Thanks
It happens all the time and not just online. There's a well known auction company in my area that holds at least one sale of some sort every weekend. Those of us "in the know" are aware that they have "bidders" on their payroll to run up the prices. We try to warn unsuspecting people when it happens to them. Sometimes they listen and end up buying the item afterwards but, sometimes they don't and end up paying a lot more than they should.
Correctons/notes: -36 HP -IH built from 64-67. -If anyone gives $6K for a 424, they are out of their mind. -No power steering is a major drawback on a 424. They handle like a log cart without it. -If it has any hydraulic issues with the three point/draft control, you're in deep trouble. That said, a 424 is a great tractor. When they are running good, they are borderline indestructible!
Might get a '68 434 has a loader on it. If i do get it is it a big deal to replace the 2 loader control handles with a joystick? I am addemate having a joystick instead as i only have 2 hands. its a gas model😖 tho
Might have paid a little too much but once you get it running nice I think you'll do ok on it. May be not a huge profit bit at least you won't go in the hole
I hate when they "forget" to tell you all that is wrong. just tell me the facts then I'll pay what I think it's worth. you got a shaft for the tractor just on the cost, not the to! lol for retail you might break even, for personal use it's not the deal of the day but not terrible.
Here's my opinion which isn't worth a whole lot the shaft is probably missing from the front of the tractor because the pump is shot and the carburetor needs to run on choke because the throttle bushings are shot hopefully for your sake none of this is true
Loaders on farm tractors don't mix. Too hard on the front end. Try to limit your loss to 1K. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad unit but even with the loader it's not worth more than what you paid for the tractor alone.
@@CrazyDEquipment ,your right, but that’s how we learn! I’m feel it won’t happen with you again. I’ve gotten caught before also,I have 8 tractors now, only one ran when purchased, just a fun hobby for me,and several old implements also.
Yes you are a bit high for a 424 - if you paid $2800 for the tractor complete with the loader, you would be about right. I understand without the loader, the value of the machine is much less. The other guy was a sore loser and you should have let him have the loader, maybe. I have spent more on auctions that I should have - online and on site - before I learned to put a "stop" price on every item and not exceed it. I think you will come out all right but not make 40% GM - should sell for around $5000 so you will make 16%
