Been watching your channel from the start and I rarely ever comment on anything. My grandfather raised pigs and the best way to keep the smell down is to bring in a few inches of wood chips as needed. Keeps the smell way down

Thats a great idea! Even with a week left, I may try that. See… you should comment more often lol. Thanks!

I'm still here and have been since the start. The trick with not having sticky pigs is to move them on weekly basis. If you don't have the land or fence to do that they will stink. Sometimes the better option is to buy a pig slaughtered from someone who raise them in a way that you approve with and they will deal with all that stuff and you get a whole pig to enjoy. It could be an option even if temporary until you have fencing in place to be able to keep pigs without the smell. I hope everything works out with the dog. Still so glad to see you have such a warm heart for the animals.

Yeah, I mentioned that I might just buy them already processed from the same guy

I raised pigs one time. I put them in a pen that was 60 X 80 feet. They chose to put their "potty" In the far back corner. I never smelled a thing. Maybe because of the prevailing winds. Pigs are very finicky and they like to stay clean. I know people say they like to wallow in mud but they would much prefer water to wallow in. Anything to keep themselves cool because they don't have sweat glands.

Yep, they only use one corner.

Have a look at Sow the Land. Jason raises two pigs each year, I don't recall the breed but they are a bit smaller than yours. He built basically a car port size space and put down at least a foot and a half maybe two feet of wood chips. Everyday he covers their poop with more wood chips (they use the bathroom in the same spot always). I have never heard any of his family or him say they smelled. He will be butchering them soon. Hope you can catch the dog...maybe a tranquilizer gun to put him to sleep until you can cage him so the folks that want him can take him home. Good luck on all accounts. Have a Blessed day.
